SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WED., APR 22)

Greetings, shopping friends. It is a beautiful but nippy day. I've been organizing the pantry, as well as sorting some things. I just wish donation centers would open so I could transfer this stuff to a new home.

The governor is proceeding slowly to open things up. His first target are elective surgeries, but before a hospital is approved to start doing them, it has to prove it has the resources available to keep patients safe. The students will not return to the classroom for the rest of the  year. This was something the governor really wanted to happen so the students could have some type of closure with friends. He said, however, that he would not risk their health and upon the advice of his team, he decided to cancel especially since it would be difficult to maintain social distancing.

I got my Denim & Co. beach pants in black and in the olive print. Both fit well so they are keepers. My Lug TSV is in the city, arriving too late to be put on the UPS truck so I will get it tomorrow but UPS will be delivering it to the Post Office where I will go to pick it up.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely. Be safe!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WED., APR 22)

Hi Everyone!

It's cool and sunny today. It did get cold enough to frost over the plants so I have my fingers crossed that the new ones have survived. I meant to cover them but then forgot all about it until I had my pajamas on. I still think they send these plants too soon.

I'm hoping to get some banking accomplished at the drive thru and maybe a few groceries. Chicken is on sale and I hate to miss it. I just finished ordering a back up bag of dog chow. There's a shipping delay now so I place my order when they are 1/3 of the way thru the current bag.

The beach pants I ordered my dil arrived yesterday. They look nice and are in a petite.I think I got navy or black. I pre ordered the Cuddle duds TSV for her as well,. Now, I'm all set for Mother's Day except for the card. I start gift shopping for her early so I have plenty of time to find something that fits her needs and my budget.

I have more paperwork to get organized and a few stacks of shredding to be done. I amy spend tomorrow getting those tasks checked off my list.

Stay safe & comfy.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WED., APR 22)

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Jean.  Glad you like the beach pants, and hope you like your new Lug bag when you receive it.  We are having nice weather here as well.  I considered taking my walk early, but it was chilly (for me) this morning when I got up (49 degrees).  It is sunny and should make it to the lower 80's later today.  Tomorrow we are supposed to be starting on our 90 degree days.

I know you will miss the students, but it is probably for the best to cancel the rest of the school year.  Hopefully, things will be better in the Fall.  Interesting about the elective surgeries being the first target.  Probably better than some other governor's ideas in my opinion.

You are a nice and thoughtful MIL, Fressa.  I have a very difficult time figuring out what my DD would like, so I usually just send money or gift cards.  We talk all the time, but it seems like she is constantly changing as far as what she likes and wants.  She probably doesn't agree with me, but....

Hope you are able to take care of the bank and get some groceries today, and your plants survive the cold.

All went well with the car recall work yesterday, and the dealership seemed to be taking safety very seriously.  It looks like not many signed up for the Caregivers meeting this morning, so it may be brief.  I ended up making two banana breads to take to my "boss" at the senior lunch program.  I also plan to donate a little money to them since they are providing extra services to the participants.  I have only ordered restaurant food one time so far, and I feel a little guilty.  But, I have plenty of food here plus I enjoy cooking.  Trying out new combinations, which is fun.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day and stays safe.

Hugs,

Linda

Fressa--I agree that plants are often sent too early. In our area, a distance of 75 miles can put one into a different growing region but one not recognized on those ordering guides. A week can make a big difference. The first week of May has always been safe but most of the guides like to ship in mid-April. I do hope your plants survived.

Linda--You may have a small caregivers meeting but I know the information you provide will be on target. Elective surgeries? Our state has many older people so delaying too long isn't a great idea. Also, those who are at home and expect to return to work would not want their work interrupted by a surgery. I think gift cards are a great way of solving the problem of what to buy someone when their likes and dislikes change often.

I assembled my new free-standing toilet roll holder. It is in a rose/bronze finish so it will fit in my bathroom just fine to match part of the tile. It holds 3 big rolls in reserve on the bottom, the spindle holds the roll in use, and a basket on top can hold wipes or even a cell or kindle. Amazon delivered well on that.

Another firm delivering well is Chewy. I had read of the shipping holdups because of the virus. I got an email notifying me of my upcoming autodelivery of Midnight's prescription cat food plus litter. I was told if I clicked "order today," the order would be priority handled to ensure I got the prescription food in time. I did that not expecting an immediate delivery but I just got an email that said the order had shipped.

According to the tracking, my Lug TSV is now at the Post Office awaiting my picking it up. The order was placed on April 18, so that is a 4 day delivery. I'm too comfortable here to get ready to go and pick it up.
