Good morning, shopping friends. As predicted, the stormageddon arrived in stages. First, the ice arrived with up to a half inch covering the roads, etc. Then the snow arrived with it just stopping about two hours ago. The temps are expected to be near zero tonight. They kept trying to clear the main roads but it was a losing battle. Most things are closed with us being in a State of Emergency.
This is another day to spend inside. I guess TV, odds and ends inside the house are on the agenda. I understand something like Fashion Day is on the Q agenda. Unless the good programming was on at night, I don't see any lines featured during the day that interests me...and I was actually considering buying an item, but it won't be the TSV. It may be good for some but it isn't my style.
Minight is making biscuits on my arm and stomach; this is a message that he wants me to get rid of the laptop so he can move in. It appears that we may not lose power but I have the netbook, laptop, tablet, cell phone and Kindle fully charged.
Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Good Morning! Sorry you are having such nasty weather Jean. Do you have heat, I certainly hope so? I haven't called DD yet, but everything in her area is closed due to the ice/sleet with snow on top. Yuck!
I will not be buying the TSV either. That is a good thing since I have way too many clothes already. Not sure if I will find other temptations or not, but clothing and shoes are my weakness.
Today I plan to go to COSTCO and perhaps a shopping center I haven't visited in at least three months! The primary reason I haven't gone there is that one of the "main attractions" is a Target store, and I have been afraid to shop there. Silly, because I'm sure they have taken steps to protect their shoppers/credit card holders, but....
I also hope to get in touch with our home owners insurance agent today since our rates are so much higher this year. Don't understand why since we have had no claims, no additions, etc. Also, home prices have not gone up much in the area, and I don't think we would get as much for the house as we paid for it if we put it on the market.
The ice cream social yesterday afternoon was very nice. But, DH ended up eating a bunch of ice cream and not being hungry for dinner.
Guess I should get moving now.
Waves to Kathleen (hope your DD likes her new place and your DH finds a new job soon), Sonya, Susan, Marijane, LindaR, twinny, Rosa, Gayle, Nancy, Karen, Val, Kathy, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope all of you have a good day and stay safe.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi ladies! Same old thing here this morning. I made the bed for DH yesterday with the fleece, knowing it would be chilly tonight and we were very toasty. My cousin made me a very beautiful crocheted king size afgan that we put on the bed when we need a little extra, and I woke up hot at 3am but (joyfully) went back to sleep.
Boot camp was grueling but we got through it and I suppose I am stronger, right? lol No special plans today. I have been wearing my Old Navy camis so much that I think I might order a few more. Other than that there is no shopping on my radar. Waiting for my swim suit and my new dress to come in.
I'm not sure what supper will be. I made shake n bake pork chops last night that were delicious. Brought the leftovers to work today Mmmmmm. I have other leftovers for tonight but it looks like the chickens might be eating them. tee hee!
Next week I'm trying to make some plans with several friends, to get out and do some new things. My boss thinks we will get some vacation time in, and I hadn't anticipated taking time off, I know I will enjoy whatever I do.

Linda--It might pay to check out insurance options. Sometimes, it isn't your claims that cause a problem but excessive claims by others on the same company. Certain zip codes are risk indicators also, as well as credit scores. I'm sure that you don't have a problem with any o these but others might. Many people who are selling houses now are finding that it is difficult to sell their house at the value of it. No, I don't have heat and won't until the unit arrives that was ordered comes in to the wholesaler. The size I needed was not in stock. I can't see them replacing it in this weather if it were here. It supposedly is in transit to the wholesaler in the city where the contractor will pick it up. Like everything else here, we have to get things in the city. Rounded off, the complete HVAC with labor will come in at about $5,000.
Kathleen--I do hope DH finds a job soon. That period of job search is always a time of ambiguity about what lies ahead, but we just have to trust that the Almighty will provide. The Old Navy camis sound as if they really work well for you so I can understand your wanting more of a good thing. The king-sized afghan certainly came in handy.
I decide to have chili for lunch; I haven't had it for a very long time.

Good afternoon, I am watching the snow out of my office windw. School is called off and we amy close the office early. We are supposed to get any where from 6 to 9 inches.
Rock Chick, about you Homeowners, do you have your auto there? If not not you may want to look in to that for savings. NW offers a hefty discount for home/auto. Maybe look at raising you deductible.
I made a chicken pot pie that is ready to be poped in the oven when I get home.
I also am not tempted by the TSV. I have a couple of tops with the Logo style hem but the fabric is more substancial and they are more fitted in the torso. I like what I have but have no need for more. I did buy a pair of black wedge sandals this weekend. I can truly say I have no need or even want for anything clothes related.

I checked with the homeowners insurance agent, and it looks like the company has made substantial rate increases throughout the State and maybe the country. It is "nothing personal." And, it doesn't seem like there are any cuts to coverage that I could make and still sleep at night. I guess I don't have a very high tolerance for risk. LOL
We could get a discount if we took our auto insurance from this company Rosa, but I don't want to change auto insurance. I have used the same auto insurance company for 40 plus years, and they give me pretty good rates. Did check into the price difference a couple of years ago, but the homeowners insurance company charges substantially more for auto insurance than our current company, and the reduction in homeowner insurance didn't make up for those increases. Oh well, it is only money as they say. Wish the auto insurance company also sold homeowners insurance, but they do not (at least in Arizona).
I guess the cost you are paying for your HVAC replacement isn't too bad Jean, but nothing to sneeze at for sure. Sorry the parts aren't in stock, but replacement in the ice and snow might not be a great idea.
DD said everyone is home, and they are still getting pretty heavy snow on top of ice. So far so good about their power, however.
I changed my flight to Maryland to get an extra day since DH will be away with his DD for longer than I had expected. Hopefully the snow will be gone by the end of May/early June.

Rosa--The chicken pot pie sounds wonderful, the perfect thing for a nasty winter day. Enjoy your new sandals. Speaking of want versus need, I wonder if we could go the entire year without buying clothing except undies, etc. Close the office early and go home; the clients will use the toll-free number if they have a fender bender. New clients in search of insurance likely will not venture out today. My car has been in the garage since Saturday afternoon.

Sorry, Linda I got the names mixed up. If you have had your auto with the same compnay for 40 years I would not reccomend changing. Stay the course!

HI girls, Just checking in real quick; I'm still having a really rough time - depressed and cry often. On top of everything else some of the kitties have been sick; just a bit of sneezing in some, but Clawd had a full-blown URI and Whisper a really bad herpes infection. Clawd is pretty much recovered, but I'm still keeping Whisper in quarantine as he was so contagious - the vet put the exam room he was in off-limits for the rest of the day after she saw him. Fortunately he's finally started eating again, going through three cans of food a day - he was losing weight and it was no fun force-feeding and watering him with a syringe - I lost a lot of blood that way! At least now it's just medication twice a day, so it's not as bad.
Sorry to hear you don't have heat, Jean - it was 70° here yesterday, although it's chilly and rainy today. I was supposed to meet with a friend - one of my former Marines - for lunch, as we're starting a program for local kids to teach them to play chess and do other things; I asked the Ruritan Club if they'd like to get involved and they're interested, so we have to get our proposal together. Anyway, that was put off until tomorrow, which is just as well. I stupidly left Whisper's Clavamox out instead of refrigerating it, so I have to run by the vet and get some more - it spoils very quickly.
It's the last week of the school semester - it sure went fast.
Have a blessed day, everyone.

Rosa, I forgot that I had made pot pies after Christmas this year! I should have DH put it in the oven and it would be done shortly after I get home. I quit buying the little ones because he won't eat the crust and I hate throwing all that crust away! lol
I was wondering about the insurance. We have our cars with State Farm for as long as either of us had insurance. Our mobile home was so hard to insure because we had to insure for the total property not just the home. It was a hassle!
Jean, we paid a little over 5k for our AC unit last year. We got a better unit though and could tell right away that it was doing a much better job.
Linda if I don't cook at night around 6ish, DH will eat cheese and crackers and not want supper. Grrr!!
I have not been eating well this weekend and one of our guys just brought me some cookies.
