Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Rosa, the vacay sounds wonderful and I love state parks! I wish I could get my Beloved to go hiking with me but it's just not his thing.  My cousin will be here next week and I'm hoping we can get some kayaking in.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Jean I got rid of all my black tops a couple years ago when I got caught up in the "season color charts" that some ladies do here.  I got rid of all my black based on that and one picture!  The past year I have added several black tops and yes determined to not buy any more.

My spending has been on the house.  I bought curtains for the whole house, blackout thermal panels for all but the 2 living room windows. Ordered white ruffly curtains and can't wait to see them!  Then found a ruffle valance I'm waiting on as well, and want to replace my little bathroom hexagon valance - still looking looking looking.

I bought the apple guard spray and am about to spray my new Fossil bag, as the ladies on the purse forum swear by it.  Still waiting on the conditioner to condition my older bags.  blah blah blah that's my life.  Smiley Very Happy

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Hello all - I didn't sleep that well either.  Learned second hand last night my youngest niece's husband wants a divorce.  I won't get into the details other than the way he's gone about it and the underhanded things he's apparently done (coming to light now) the past 3 months shocked the snot out of me.  My niece is emotionally ruined.  There's a 4 year old child in the mix.  Looking like 2016 is going to be one of those rocky years for my family.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Hi everyone, wow, 13 posts already. Charlene, so sorry about Rosie, that is never an easy thing. Bernie, so sorry about your niece, very painful thing to go through. Rosa, sounds like a great relaxing vacation, enjoy.
I did finally get my mani/pedi this morning. It is another rainy chilly day here. Still haven't shopped for pumps to wear to the wedding, oh well. Need to get some laundry going and figure out what will be for dinner tonight. Waves to everyone......

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts regarding Rosie.

RockChick - Sorry that your relationship with your DD is rocky.  I hope it improves.  I find my DS difficult, but have a great relationship with my DD.  It is difficult to "let go" sometimes.  I hope that your DH finds just the right job.  Trust me, I know what it's like to have a pity party sometimes.

Bernie - Sorry to hear about your niece's pending divorce.  If the husband is a creep, then in the long term she'll be better off without him.  That said, it doesn't lesson all the pain and sorrow that she's going through right now, and how scary the future might be looking.  Sending prayers for her.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Hi girls!

Well, I'm up and have the trunk of the car packed with things for the thrift shop; I want to take the dogs for a drive before the forecast thunderstorms begin. (It's sunny at the moment.)  My usual thrift shop which supports the low-cost spay/neuter place and shared a building with my cats' vet is moving; they don't have a new location yet, but they're closed until they get one. I want to start thinking about getting the garage cleaned out (Anyone need a bunch of nice boxes? I can't bear to just toss the nice ones I get from Amazon.), so that's some stuff out of the way. Anyway, another thrift shop that supports animal charities has opened in my town, so I'll take the things there.

I really conked out yesterday; I cleaned out the refrigerator while the Sloppy Joes cooked, and was so exhausted by the time I was done I just about passed out when I layed down to take a "brief" nap.  Hopefully I'll get around to getting the office organized today; getting the empty boxes put in the garage and the packages for the troops ready to mail tomorrow went a long way towards getting that done.

Charlene, I'm so sorry to hear about Rosie; remember, the Lord loves the animals even more than we do - He'll take good care of her until you see her again.  I'm not huge on plaid, but do like it sometimes - Walmart has some cute plaid shirts in a nice gauzy material; check them out if you could use some..

Jean, I too have more clothes than I need; I'm not one of those people who can go to a store and "just look" - I HAVE to buy.  I see there's a thread about black tops on women over 50; I thought I was the only one, but whereas I used to look good in black when I was younger, as one ages and skin fades, it can make you look washed out - especially if your skin tone is yellow, as mine is.

Autumn's Seresto collar came; hopefully that will take care of her flea problem, since nothing else works on her.  They give you a choice of only small and large, so I went with the large; it's big enough for her, with enough left over that I can make a collar for Whisper, who is one of the cats who also has a serious flea problem.  Funny how some animals are pretty much unaffected, and others get eaten up!

Enjoy your weekend, Rosa.

I was reading a news story earlier about a man who decided to divorce his wife a few hours after the ceremony.  Apparently she was so busy texting people she told him she was "too busy" to consummate the marriage, and refused to put her phone down! Cat LOL   I really don't get it - I use my phone for maybe 3-4 hours a MONTH...and only text my handyman. I don't know enough people to spend all my time on the phone.

Nothing else going on; I'm waiting for the guy from the mortgage place to get back to me - we were waiting on some info from my bank that I have a credit card with; I'm eager to get that over and done with. I have a lot more equity in the house than I thought; I was planningn to get enough cash for a new HVAC system, but migt think about other repairs... I was too tired to check in on my classes yesterday; that has to get done today.

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Sorry I'm late in posting, but like most Tuesdays, it has been a pretty busy day.  Thanks for getting us started, Jean.  I'm trying very hard not to buy clothing for a while.  But, it is certainly a weakness of mine.  At least I didn't order the TSV yesterday.  As Charlene said, maybe it will come back at an "as is" price someday.  Then again, I still am not crazy about the peplum feature.  Note to self -- stay strong.

Your Memorial Day week plans sound wonderful, Rosa.  How did it go being captain of the ship?  I'm sure you did a great job.  Thanks to all of you for your kind words. On second thought, the wheelchair might not be a good idea.  I don't know why I didn't realize how heavy it would be to push DH.  Oh well..... I might try again tomorrow or the next day, but I'm still pretty sore from yesterday.

DH slept pretty well last night -- only got up once at 3:00 a.m. or so.  He seemed happy that the "club", and even wanted to take a walk in our little park when I picked him up.  As the nurse said, there will be good days and bad days.  Thank goodness today was a good one.

Glad you are feeling pretty well, Barbara, and the weather is moderating.  A man sitting behind me in church was returning to MN this week, and I was hoping it would not be too cold for him.  That will be quite a disruption in your area, but I guess it will be good to have all those improvements done to the street, etc.

Sorry about Harper destroying your plants, Charlene.  And, that is very bad news about Rosie.  I'm sure your daughter thought about this a lot before deciding it had to be done.  Hugs.

Hi Bernie -- hope you are not working too hard.  That is a shame about your niece and the divorce.  I remember when twinny's niece had the same issue.  I don't think her ex was really nasty or anything, but suddenly decided he didn't want to be married after they had a child.  My ex was pretty nasty, and it really hurt.

Good to see you posting, Kathleen.  I really hope both you and your DH can find jobs that you love in your area.  Sorry you and your older DD are having rocky times, and it is causing you to lose sleep.  I never thought about not wearing black tops before I read the thread here.  I guess I need to look at myself in the mirror more or something.  Not that I have a ton of black tops, but I have several that are favorites.  In fact, I wore a Linea black top today -- it is a shell with an overblouse full of "holes".  I wore it with winter white pants, and got compliments.  Go figure.

Glad you got your mani/pedi, snicks.  Hope you find the pumps before the wedding.

Good luck with your mortgage business, Arlene. Sounds like you have been very busy.

Waves to twinny, Susan, Marijane, LindaR, Karen, pinky ann, Gayle, Essie, and all of our posters and readers.

My new computer should be delivered tomorrow.  Hope it isn't too much trouble to set up.

Have a nice evening everyone!

Hugs,

Linda
