SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Good morning, shopping friends. I just successfully emptied my shopping cart at online Macy's where there is a great sale going on along with free shipping on $50. I saw 3 blouses I would loved to have had and they went into the cart as they were almost half price. Then I looked at all the clothes I have out to make a selection for the upcoming trip and told myself that a sale is not a sale if you don't need it as it won't save money.

Instead, I bought that Ninja 4 in 1 cooking sytem K41333  which has great reviews.  I have been looking at it for some time a I am trying to find multi purpose kitchen items to use to eliminate some of the older items I have.

It had six easy pays on it which comes in handy to keep a credit card with a large credit line used for six months to keep it active. As you know, cards not used for a long period of time can get cancelled, so this is my method of doing that. Granted I would have preferred another card but I want to keep this credit line intact as it does factor into the calculation of the FICO score.

I am now watching D&C, but I am well supplied right now. I did see the TSVs in the Insider and do like the shoes that Snicks is considering. They are a little out of the line of what I would normally consider as I personally haven't worn peep toes for years, but these are very enticing. Time will tell.

I'm off to fix some lunch and then continue my task of finding things to donate. How many black tops do I need?

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Good morning, it is cold and rainy here.

I am the only one in the office today, captain of the ship.  Lucky for me it is pretty slow.

I also do not need any more clothes, need to wear what I have.  We had a local boutique go out of buisness so I bought  several pieces for srping and summer that I have not worn, it has just been too cold.

Mark and I have rented a cabin for a week at a state park, the week of Memorial day, can't wait.  We have spent a long weekend there and just loved.  No TV, lots of hilking, reading and relaxing.

Not much going on here.

Linda Latte...Rembering you in my prayers, you are a great example of living you wedding vows.

Rosa--Being "captain of the ship" is a big responsibility but you have proved yourself capable of that many times. The problem with having too many  clothes is that there is always something else that will arise to tempt us. I think it is great that you and Mark are planning a week away. It sounds as if this will be your time with little to interfere. Good planning!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Good morning all - Jean - thanks for getting us started.  Good for you, not purchasing the clothing on further reflection.  I almost purchased a couple of tops from ebay yesterday, but also changed my mind.  Glad I did. It's been quite a few days since I purchased anything unnecessary.   Rosa - staying in a cabin for a week over Memorial Day sounds wonderful!  Bernie - I understand about you wanting to stock up on olive green clothing while it's being sold.  With me, it's plaid clothing.  I've always liked plaid, and since it was popular this past year I stocked up on a few tops, a couple of vests, and 2 Denim & Co plaid jackets.  Love them all.

I have many things planned for today.  My dog Harper needs a vaccination and dewormer.  She's become a hunter, I guess.  In the past 3 weeks she has caught a ground squirrel, a rat, and a bird.  Not sure what to think of that.  I do know what to think of her destroying the peat pots that I planted tomato seeds in.  She destroyed the first set, I replanted, then early this morning she destroyed those.  She's getting on my nerves.  At this rate, I won't have the special heat-tolerant tomatoes this summer that I have to grow from seed.  Oh well.  After that I am planning to drop some pet food and a check off at our local community pantry.  Then my DD is meeting me at the optometrist's and she is going to help me pick out some eyeglass frames.  I appreciate getting a second opinion on glasses.

My DD also informed us last night that she thinks it's time to put Rosie down.  I talked about Rosie several months ago.  She's one of our white goats that hasn't been well this past year.  I had asked my DD several times if it was time to put Rosie down and she had always said no.  Then yesterday she showed photos of Rosie to the vet she works for, they discussed options, and she made the decision.  It'll be done sometime this week.  Rosie is such a sweet, good-natured goat, it's going to be hard to say good-bye.  We're having sad times with our pets lately.

Sorry about me sharing the sad stuff of life.  Hugs to those of you going through tough times, and waves to all who visit our thread.  Hope you have a blessed day!  ~  Charlene

@cerb

Oh boy Charlene, I've been wondering about Rosie and am very sorry that you are nearing the time to give her back to God.  I know that this isn't an easy decision, at any time, to make for our companion animals.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MAY 17)

Hello friends! I'm at country home this week.  Spent a couple hours organizing pictures on my phone and FB - could have done that in the city!! Couldn't go to sleep last night - my relationship with older DD is rocky and I feel bad. It's always been this way, just try to do my best and love and support her and let go but it's not always easy for me. I think that's what was keeping me up.  So now it's 11am and I'm just starting to get going.  I did make muffins for breakfast and sent her to work with food.

I'm very happy with the way I've redone the living room.  Have to wait on more ideas before I do much more but the house is dusty so there is plenty for me to do.

I've got the tv on, Saturday Night Live is hilarious. George Bush inpersonations a while ago.

I applied for some jobs and now need to get back to work.  Hugs to all!

Charlene, I love plaid too.  Had to get rid of a little, only need so many pinkish plaid button up tops.  That was a while back - I kept several.  So sorry to hear about Rosie.  I actually appreciate it when we share sad things too - it keeps it real. I always try to keep it real too.

I was very depressed last week after DH had an interview near home.  It would have been a really great opportunity and it's hard to keep believing that Jesus knows better than I do. I had a grand little pity party about it.
