SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MARCH 12th)

It is still Monday evening here, but I decided it was time to start a new thread.

So glad to hear about your medical test results, Glenda.  Seems like almost everyone is getting higher bills for insurance.  But, your increases do seem lower than others.

Have to say that I never cared for DST either Bernie and Fressa.  I would not like your DH's hours, Fressa.  But, I guess he is used to it.

I had a very sad Monday.  First, the hospice chaplain's Father (who has been on hospice for a little more than a month) passed away yesterday.  Not unexpected, but difficult for the family.

Then, just as I was about to visit two of "my" hospice patients, I had a call from the volunteer coordinator telling me that one had just died.  She was the one who had gangrene and was on very strong pain medicine.   But, she was not expected to pass this soon -- what they call "active".  I will miss her a great deal.

On the positive side, my other patient who just didn't wake up last week was wide awake and smiling today. Her daughter was there when I arrived, but said she would let us visit and come back later.   We had a nice conversation and I was able to help her with her Ensure (she has that for lunch).

Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Glenda, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice Tuesday.

Hugs,

Linda

Linda L. Sorry about your two sudden deaths.  Glad that your  other patient was awake & had an enjoyable visit with you.  Sad no matter how ever quickly it can happen.

I do like DST as I dislike it getting dark at 4:30 p.m. in the Fall.   I look forward to getting up earlier than normal next month  & sitting on the front porch with a good book.

Bird Mama, our weather has been similar to yours.  A little bit of everything.  We are going to be in the 70's today again. 60's tomorrow, 50's & a chance for rain on Thursday.  Maybe flurries at the end of the week.   It was like this last year and then we had the hottest summer ever.  Ugh!!

I have been busy doing my PT exercises twice a day and going to the gym.  I can't wait to get into the hot tub before lunch.

After my PT session tomorrow morning , we are heading out for a few days.   It 's been a while since we have been on a road trip so we are taking baby steps getting ready for a longer road trip in May.   Safety on the roads is another thing.

There was a horrible van/semi accident a couple of days ago.  Eight out of the nine people in the van from VA heading to a small Amish town in WI & the semi driver were killed.  They  usually involve Amish buggies & vehicles which there were two last Fall.

We are going to the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium about an hour or so away in IA.   We have not been there, but have heard good things about it. Eating a good lunch and getting a nice motel for a couple of nights.

Yesterday we were out & about getting Emily a couple of gift cards for her 19th birthday on Thursday.   She is in the Barracks and it's a mile away walk to get her mail and carry pkgs back.

Since Thursday is pi day, March 14th and our 54th wedding anniversary we will enjoy a good piece of pie.  Yes,  Emily is our anniversary baby.

We will be getting back home on Friday afternoon and going out with friends for a fish fry.   There are a lot of things going on for St. Patrick's Day here, but I think we will be in recovery mode.

Hugs to all of you.

Glenda

Linda @LindaLatte I have immense respect for you for lots of reasons; up near the top of the list is your work as a hospice volunteer.  I'm sorry for your loss.  I am confident that you were a great comfort to your patient and I'm happy for her that she is out of pain and restored on the other side.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MARCH 12th)

Hi Everyone!

It's warming up today with a forecast of almst 60. The sun is out but it's still cool. YIPPEE!

More of the same is scheduled for tomorrow. They are still sticking to their predictions that snow storms are going to happen in a week or so. We'll see.

LindaLatte--That's a shame about your hospice patients. Good news that another patient was awake and enjoyed the visit. Those patients and family members are lucky to have you.

Twinny70---Good to hear that your PT is coming along. My bf is starting that this week. She did something to her hip and it's giving her pain and stiffness. Six weeks and then she bidiyd yhr fovyot got s trvsp.

Advance Happy Anniversary!!!!  54 years is quite the accomplishment. Congrats to both of you.

Hope you have fun on your road trip. I like places like you have on your list. When we were out West we would visit old mines that had tours. There were some that almost made me claustrophobic. I do better if I can feel a breeze. LOL

I did cave and purchase the Ryka tennis shoe Big Deak, I ordered a wide to try. I'm thinking that might fit my foot better than going up a 1/2 size. It seems that the leisure shoes are running short and narrow in some of the reviews. I donated all of my shoes that felt too tigh tto make it through grocery shopping.( my comfort test)  I got white which is new for me.

Have a good afternoon/evening/

@LindaLatte  Bless your heart being a hospice volunteer. It must be incredibly rewarding and also sad. I'm sure your interactions with your patients mean a lot to the families of the patients along with the patients themselves.

Good Evening!

Thanks for your kindness about my hospice patient,  We really had a good connection, and she didn't have much family and few visitors.

Have a nice road trip, Glenda.  Congratulations in advance on your anniversary.  I know Jean really likes DST.

Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Susan, Barbara, SaveTheTurtles and all of our posters and readers.  We had very nice weather here  today.

The senior lunch program went pretty well, but the industrial refrigerator broke over the weekend.  So, when they came in yesterday, all the food in the refrigerator was spoiled, and the smell was horrible.  They had to throw out all of the food and the director had to buy new food.

The repair guys came today and took away the refrigerator which they think may not be repairable.  In the meantime, they brought a small refrigerator/freezer.

Today is my DD's birthday, and she and her DH were thrilled to be able to see and hold her new grandchildren.  (They flew out to see my DGS and wife plus the babies this morning.)  Definitely a reason to smile.

Sleep well everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MARCH 12th)

Linda L, it's so nice that your dd & dsil were able to see the twins.  Nothing like a double blessing for all of you!

My PT went good this morning.  My Dr.  had me do the same exercises that I was doing last week, except he had me hold a 3# dumb bell.   We found a Dic** Sporting Goods so I was able to buy a 3# dumb bell.

It was a nice drive over here and we were able to see the Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium.  Very nice to see an alligator & a lot more sea creatures.   The museum was interesting & we are glad we got to see it.

We had a good dinner at the Texas Road House and such a nice waiter.

It was so good to get to our motel and take a dip in pool.  Not warm like the hot tub,  but still nice to get into a pool.

Thanks for your Anniversary wishes.  There is a couple in our hometown that just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.  We have known them for a real long time and see them when we go to Culver's on a Friday night.  They are both active and she only uses a cane.   He walks a lot, still drives & they both have good minds.

Tomorrow we are going to few stores, sightseeing and having a good dinner out tomorrow night.  There are a lot of things to do and see in this town.  They are all need near our motel which is a plus.

Right now we are both tired.

Hugs to all of you.

Glenda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MARCH 12th)

Glad you are having a good time, Glenda.  Good news about your PT.  That is nice about the other couple.  Our very local newspapers had a story about a similar couple.  They married quite young, and are still happy together.

I had a very quiet day -- went for walks in the morning and afternoon and to the grocery stores and Walmart in the middle.  I finally did some much needed paper filing and shredding and cleaning.

Waves to Glenda, Fressa, Bernie, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone slept well.

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. I was having lots of trouble seeing things on my computer and was seriously thinking of going to my eye doctor.  Then I figured out that my laptop screen was quite dark.  Went to settings, increased brightness and now all is well.  Whew!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, MARCH 12th)

Hi Everyone!

It's raining again today with somewhat mild temps. Tomorrow is to be warm and cloudy. Sunday another freeze moves in. (expected to last 4 days) I hope my flowers make it thru. This is how I end up with only one tulip blooming in the front porch garden. So sad.

I hope to bath the dogs on Saturday. Crossing my fingers I get the weather to cooperate.

:LindaLatte--

What an unpleasant surprise with the senioor lunch refrigerator. That is always such a mess.

What a great trip for your DD to meet her twin grandchildren!

Twinny70--

Glad to hear that your PT is going well. It doesn't seem like "work" when it's something that you'll already doing.

Good save on the laptop settings. I think that's a sign that you're too busy.

I just received the Houri Houri knife from Ultimate Innovations. It's great! It was on a gteat sale price and is just wahat I needed. I wanted one garden item that would do it all from digging a hole for a plant and cutting the roots of a weed. It isn't too heavy for my hand and seems to be built well. I like that it has a leatherer cover so I can't hurt myself.

I've been trying to get back on my regulat schedule with the house chores.I'm making progress (finally) and am finding a little time to work on shredding and declutterin the files in my desk. The safe is last on the list with all of our policies. I get so nervous about shreding something that I might need in the future that I save it all. Then it's a project to check on insurance policies or whatever. I'm trying to be better  with that task.

I haven't watched much of the Q except for the garden shows and cooking. I usuallly get an idea or tip so I'm not making the same thing for denner each night.

I finally was able to clear up the confusion on my breathing prescriptions and picked up the refills the other day. One of them (most expensive) doubled in price. UG!!!I think the shock is finally at the numb phase. I do feel better with my breathing so that's the priority. Fingers crossed they hold this price for a year. It's just upsetting the cost of everything.

Have a good afternoon.
