SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JUNE 20th)

Good Morning from very hot southern Arizona.  I am not sure about the "official" high temperature for our area, but I know it reached 112 degrees yesterday according to my phone.  Our AC got a work out, but fortunately worked very well.  They have issued excessive heat warnings until Saturday evening, and it was already hot before 6;00 a.m. when I took my walk (low-mid 80's).  It feels worse today because it is more humid.

I know it could be much worse with storms, etc., but I just can't get used to this amount of heat.

Today I have the senior lunch program, and plan to go to the gym later.

It is a very long story, but I found that DH had set up Roth IRAs for his son and DIL, at least I thought that he did based on a list of accounts I found.  His son looked into it, and found that there was a "good amount" of money in the accounts.  He had the accounts transferred to their e-mail and now has access to them.  I'm pleased and relieved.

On the negative front, I ordered some new security software which caused all sorts of issues for my computer.  Made it so I could not get into this site, my e-mail, etc.  I removed it, and the computer is back to normal.  I'll probably try again tomorrow., but I  was certainly frustrated yesterday afternoon.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope the weather is okay where you are, and everyone is having a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Linda--Thank you for starting the thread. I've been tracking your horrible temperatures on the news and Weather Channel. It must be very difficult. I am glad the IRA situation has been straightened out, but I do hope the software doesn't create another problem when you install it again. So frustrating!

Sometimes, you can't win. I got a call from the local medical provider. I am being referred for a colonoscopy based upon test results. I have the urologist appointment coming up in early July at which time I assume they will schedule another bladder scope.  This makes three specialists I see. The last colonoscopy was 3 years ago.

Right now, I have 4 bags ready for trash day, 1 bag of clothes for donation, and a big selection of boxes ready to go out to the trash. Today, I am expecting a delivery from Omaha Steaks.

meallen--Thanks for the graphic. High humidity can make the temperature feel worse than what it is because the amount of moisture in the air does not permit much cooling from evaporation of perspiration or heat from the skin.

Today is the 154th birthday of our state West Virginia.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JUNE 20th)

Hi everyone - Linda - stay cool in the heat!  I keep meaning to mention that I'm sorry your DH has been having problems with his eyes.  Hope they improve.  Glad the Roth IRA situation has worked out.  Not all second wives are as wonderful to step children as you are.  You're the best!  Also, hope that the computer glitches get worked out.  Jean - yuck about having to take all of those medical tests.  Not fun.  Good job on all of the donations you're making.  Happy Birthday West Virginia!  meallen - that ole' sun is working a little too hard!

I had hauled quite a few things down into my storage shed the past 2 days, so early this morning I went down and organized it a bit.  I marked which boxes are to be donated and which are for storage.  Also wrote down a list of books I'm donating so I can label them as such on my master book list.  That might sound weird, but I'm like a librarian and have a list of all the books I own on the computer.  That way I won't accidentally purchase duplicates.  It was HOT in that shed, but I feel as though it's neater and more organized for now.

My DD found a tub amongst her stored belongings that contained clothes of mine.  What the heck?  I think my clothes are multiplying while I'm not looking.  I really wasn't too happy to see them.  They're nice clothes but slightly on the small size.  It also contained some scarves.  Someday when I'm in the mood I'll bring the tub up to the house and go through it.

My DD made it through her first day of being a vet yesterday and all the critters did okay.  I worked really, really hard getting the house cleaned up yesterday and got it looking pretty nice.  Then my DD's poor roommates had their car break down in the middle of California's central valley during a heat wave.  They were able to get the car fixed, but didn't arrive here until after 9:00 pm.  This morning they left with my DD to tour the clinic that she's working at and then they'll be off to visit other friends.  They're such nice young women, I'm glad I got to see them again.

My plans for the day are chores and cleaning.  May your day be slightly more fun than mine!  ~  Charlene

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JUNE 20th)

Hello all, the temps dropped last night enough for my heat to kick on.  I have a sparrow that will be 12 next Monday and I don't want him or the other two birds to get chilled.  Sure has been great sleeping weather the past 2 nights.

Work has been busy and calm, so I can't complain.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JUNE 20th)

Linda, I remember I took a pic the day it reached 114 at our house. It was 74 out here and the rv is like a hot box.  I didn't want to turn the AC on so I ran to Walmart and bought a little fan i had seen to bring air in and got a box fan to blow the air out.  I'm a little embarrassed that I spent so much money on little things that we really didn't need ( like that shag rug that shed and I found threads in the laundry, in the car, etc). But not beating myself up about it - live and learn I suppose.

I'm so glad your DH was able to take care of so much business so you will not have to worry about those financial details and the kids know he was taking care of them too.

Jean, you sound like you are doing a lot of decluttering again.  My Mom wrote and has been doing her "27 fling boogie" all over the place. It gives Dad something to complain about when I call.  Smiley Very Happy  The humidity it really high here right now and we were warm sleeping with the window open and the fan on but the temp was only 60. I love the weather here!  I barely wear sunscreen and my Texas friends were all posting pics of their blistering sunburns.  Ouch!

Marijane I love love LOVED the link you shared of the bus riding dog.  Too cute!

Charlene I'm so jealous you had girls in the house! Glad DD is at her job now - can't wait to hear some stories.  Smiley Very Happy  I still have a lot of clothes to go through.  I got stuck on LuLaRoe, started with their leggings just for around the rv then a top.  I've gained enough that my capris are too tight - trying to cut back on foods now - and got a couple tops that I love.  I'm very picky and don't really fall for the marketing hype around the brand.  We'll see how they hold up.

Bernie, is that your oldest bird? How sweet!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JUNE 20th)

I'm one of those who has to be in the right mood and also have plenty of time for decluttering. When I work, I am usually too tired in the evening to do much and the weekend is usually spent going to the city to take care of needed activities.

If I had wanted this to happen for a matter of convenience, it would not have happened if I had called. I just got a phone call with the appointment for the doctor who will do the colonoscopy. It is on the afternoon of the same day I have the appointment with the urologist in the morning. I guess I can make a personal appointment for lunch in between at a good restaurant in the city.
