SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 28)

Good morning, shopping friends. I'll be off to the city today for a friendly visit to the dentist. I have no real reason to be shopping but I found a recipe that I might want to try and I don't have the ingredients. It is easy to fix chicken manicotti.

I did see that slide out organizer for underneath the sink featured this morning. That is really tempting me but I'll read the reviews first.

Kathleen is having issues with wi-fi, the phone, and getting on the web to post, so she asked me to thank everyone for the birthday greetings. She said:

Thank you for the birthday wishes, and please tell everyone I said thank you! My phone gets an error most times that i try to sign on, then sometimes it works. Having trouble with the wifi at home, so not able to post much. Hugs!

I do hope the problem is corrected soon, as we miss Kathleen's posting frequently.

I just got an email from HSN that the phone I ordered last week is just now shipping via UPS Postal from Maryland. I'm expected to get it by the end of the week. I've never had anything to take that long for UPS to deliver from Maryland. The odd thing is that HSN would't let me ship the phone to my Post Office and I had to use my home's physical address. What do they do? Send it to the Post Office.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 28)

Jean, Good luck with the friendly dentist. My DH goes to our friendly dentist next Monday to see what can be done with the crown that came off last Weds. The dentist is on a fishing trip up into Canada. That chicken manicotti sounds good. Good question about how they are sending your phone. It will be hot here today, but a reprieve tomorrow. Leaving after DH gets his walk done to a town 22 miles away. We are having our $1.00 Sr, lunch at the lodge after doing a little shopping. I am on the lookout for another swimsuit coverup & a small spiral notebook that fits into my crossover bag. It shouldn't be too hard to fine as all of the school supplies are on the shelves. RC, Good luck with wifi & other technical problems. Hoping you are liking the new job & wishing your DH good luck in his job search if he is still looking. I slept in late today even after going to bed early last night. I think that I am physically & mentally drained after last weeks events around here. The hot weather doesn't help me out either. Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 28)

Twinny--A little sleeping in at times is needed especially if physically and emotionally exhausted from last week's events  We had a home invastion in the city 78 miles from me.  A woman answered the door bell and was confronted with a man holding a gun on her. She was part of an escort service and was expecting the person. In some manner, she managed to get his distracted and the gun arm away from her. She had some type of training to handle situations. The gun went off and instead of hitting her, but bullet hit the man and killed him. They did a search of his vehicle and from all that was found, they suspect he is the serial killer on the loose who has been killing escorts across the nation.

I don't think you will have a problem, finding the right size notebook for your handbag. Enjoy your shopping and the lunch./

I am out the door for the fun experience. It is around 90 degrees right now with thunderstorms expected in late afternoon. When I get back, I'll try to remember to post the recipe.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 28)

Good Morning!  Thanks for getting us started Jean, and I hope your dentist visit goes okay.  I'm not looking forward to going back to the local, very high priced (in my view) dentist in September.  If I hadn't purchased some sort of discount/insurance plan, I would probably not bother, but.....  I haven't made manicotti  in quite a while, hope you like it if you make it.  Yesterday, I found a recipe on Facebook (Karen's page) for zucchini pie, and I made it last night -- very good.  We have enough for two more meals -- I froze the leftovers.

That is very weird about the phone delivery, but I guess there is nothing you can do but wait.  I don't know if you intentionally put up an ad for eBags packing cubes, but I ended up ordering a new set the other day.  They offered a discount, and the shipping was pretty low.  I'm a bit worried they won't get here before our trip, but I know they will be useful in future trips if that happens.  I love my current set that I have had for several years.  And, I was considering buying a new set for DH.  Now that I do all his packing, etc., I like the idea of keeping things neat.

I saw that note from Kathleen, and like you, I hope she can come back and post with us soon.  Also hope that her new job is going well.

Hi twinny -- glad you will be getting out today, and I hope you have a good time.  Some schools in our area have already started, and most will be starting next week or the week after.  So, school supplies have been prominently displayed at the stores.  I always look for notebooks and other "school" supplies this time of the year since prices and availability are so much better than at other times.

Hope your weather is nice tomorrow, Barbara, and your infusion helps.  Also hope the after effects aren't too bad.

Waves to Kathleen, Arlene, Bernie, Marijane, Charlene, Rosa, snicks (hope you are feeling better), Susan, LindaR, pinky ann, Gayle, Karen, and all of our posters and readers.

My knee hurt most of the day yesterday (not terrible, but...), and I decided to take two ibuprofen at bedtime along with using a gel on my knee.  While I don't like taking too much medicine, it really, really helped my knee.  And, I was able to sleep pretty well last night.  I'm a happy camper.

We have the senior lunch program today, and we will go to the gym in the afternoon.  I have pretty much decided which exercise caused my knee problems, and I will try to avoid hurting myself again.

Our neighbor/builder came over yesterday to take more measurements of the kitchen cabinets, and he will take us up to look at them (I think at Lowe's) tomorrow morning.  He said it will take a couple of weeks for them to come in once they are ordered, but still it sounds like the cabinets will be done this summer.  That will be a blessing for sure.  Of course, when he is working on them, doing any cooking will be difficult, but....

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 28)

Hi everyone - not much going on here today.  I think that I will continue to alter clothing, which is a slow process, and I still have some ironing to do.  I'm also going to the grocery store to pick up some loss leader items.  It seems as though almost every time I purchase food the price has gone up.  Yikes.  My DH's salary sure isn't going up that fast.  So, I better go stock up on the good deals while I can.

This is my DC's last day in Europe.  They're still in Amsterdam.  I don't know if they ever saw the Anne Frank house because they said there was a 3 hour long line.  They did see the Van Gogh museum, took a canal boat ride, and explored on foot.  Their plane leaves late tonight, has a layover in Oslo Norway, and they get home tomorrow evening.

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!   ~   Charlene

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 28)

Good morning all! I haven't figured out the trick to getting on but here is the comment box!

My job Is Going well and i am really liking it and feel like i am helping and being a blessing. The owners really seem like good people.

DH has a good job opportunity on the horizon; where it will lead is remains to be seen.

Had a wonderful weekend with DD and friend at the beach, lots of sunscreen and good food. The room we rented with horrible reviews was perfect. Something nicer would have been enjoyed more but it was last minute booking and cheap, The only thing i could find with separate bedrooms.

Barbara i hope your infusion goes well and that your Sydnie is keeping you busy this summer.
Charlene i know you will be happy to have the kids home.

I am driving DDs jeep this week and loving it. It had a temp gauge issue that thankfully was an easy fix. My AC is not working well in my car but I'm waiting for more income before i take it to our guy.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 28)

Hi Ladies!!!  Just thought I would check in and say "hi".  It is hot and humid here today, and apparently we are going to have the same for the next few days.  Yesterday's rain never materialized, which was good since I had to be out and about.

LindaL, we love that zucchini pie recipe and make it often, glad you liked it!!

I have been on a bad buying spree...not sure what's going on, but I must definitely reel myself in a bit.  I have a few things to try on again, so they may not all be keepers, we'll see.

It's a little busy at work, so, unfortunately, can respond to each of you...but, wanted you to know I am reading and thinking of all of you.  My dad is back in the hospital and not doing well at all, so any prayers will be appreciated.  Today is the 6 month anniversary of my Mom's passing...ugh, not getting any easier, yet.

Best get back to my task at hand...enjoy the day!!!
