SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

Good Morning!  I know that Jean is working today, and Kathleen is dealing with the heat and humidity of Houston by getting some water.  I have always heard that Houston is very humid -- hope you can get used to it okay, Kathleen.

We had some rain yesterday evening and night, and it was cloudy and relatively cool this morning.  It should make it into the 90's later today.

We have the senior lunch program today, and I plan to go to the gym later.  So, I'll be keeping busy.

Waves to Jean, Kathleen, Arlene, Bernie, twinny (hope you are enjoying your trip), snicks, Marijane, Susan, Barbara, Charlene, Rosa, Karen, LindaR, Gayle, pinky ann, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice day, and please post if you have time.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

I think Susan posted around the same time as I did.  Here is her post --

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Not much going on here today.  I do have to do my my ironing and mop the kitchen floor, but that is about it.  I think Jean is working today, I hope she has a good day.

We are pnly on the 70's today, guess summer is over, not that we really had a summer this year.  I guess I should not complain, at least we don't have wild fires here.  I guess I find it amazing that the state of Washington is having them.

No TSV for me today, don't need junk food here.  I have some cookies left from our party this weekend, I may just freeze them for our Labor Day party.

Well, I was just checking in, what is everyone up to today?   Have a good day everyone.

----------------

No TSV for me either.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

Hi to everyone, thanks for starting us off, LL. You always stay busy, gotta say that for you. Myself, not so much today. I did laundry, got the dishwasher ran and unloaded, ran a few errands, thats kinda it, so far. I do need to finish my cleanup project around the pool, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but just don't have it in me today, unfortunately. It's a beautiful day out, not too hot, but I am just tired. Maybe I'll get a second wind later on, but I am doubting that will happen. My dog is sleeping beside me in my recliner and I feel like just staying put.

Also hope Jean has a good day and that Kathleen gets used to heat & humidity, Houston is all about that, lol.

PAlady, hope your ironing and floor is mopped by now and you are relaxing. I don't need the TSV either. I have been having a candy craving for a couple days, so today I did allow myself to buy a candy bar, just one, and enjoyed it very much. It's better for me to just buy one at times like this, otherwise I will over indulge, lol.

Nothing else going on for me today. Waving to everyone. Have a great day.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

LindaL and Susan, thank you both for getting us started today.

I'm back to work after my long weekend and it's hectic as usual.  Last night, around 6pm I could feel myself getting melancholy about going back to work.  I shook it off and said Bernie - focus on the mortgage.

Things so far are fine with the new manager.

I think it's supposed to rain today and the high is expected to be 70 degrees.  I didn't leave any windows open for sure - don't want my birds getting a chill.

That's my excitement for the day - I am so boring, lol.

There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

Hi friends!  I'm with Snicks today, getting some chores done but feeling hot and rather tired.  Not much in the mood.  Kathleen - hope you like living in Houston!  Bernie - a belated happy birthday wish, hope your special day was nice.  Have you always named your cars?  For some reason only our trucks have had names.  Our previous 1970's truck was named "The Beast" and our current 1980's truck is named "Big Red".  Arlene - what was the name of the book you liked?  What does M.Div stand for? Is it Master of Divinity?  Sorry that I don't know.  I give empathy about the forgiveness issues among you and your friends/family.  Most people don't know that you can be forgiving in your heart, but still hold people accountable for their actions.  If you don't try to stop bad behavior, then you're kind-of an enabler.  Forgiveness and drawing boundaries can be good companions.  LindaL - I'm glad that your DH was put on antii-depressants which helped him.  My father was only in a facility for the last 3 months of his life.  They told us there that there are something like 60 different causes for dementia, and it can be hard to tell for sure which a person has.  A dear friend of ours from church was in the same home, with Parkinson's related dementia.  Congrats on your ETF purchases.  Hope they do well for you, if not in the short term, at least in the long term.  And yes...it's good to have my son out of my hair, lol.

Yesterday this shopaholic purchased some Wells Fargo, United Parcel Service, and some Eaton.  Not too many shares, because I'm not rich, lol.  Could have bought more shares if I had been shopping less.  This past month I did way too much regular shopping - clothes and jewelry mainly - 2 of my weaknesses.  I go through waves of purchasing too much, and that was one of them.  Need to cut back now.  Jean - I did receive my DreamJeannes and I like them.  They're the tiniest bit tight, but I think the next size up would be too big.  They're very comfy and don't gap at the waist.  Yay!  I bought them in brown which can be a hard color to find.

Now if I could just lose a few pounds.  I need to lose a lot of pounds, but would be happy with losing at least a few because then I'd be making progress.  I've eaten healthy the past 3 days so that's good.

Well, enough with the rambling.  I've rested my feet enough that I can resume the housework and laundry.  Hope everyone has a good day!   ~   Charlene

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

Good afternoon, our computers are not working here .  Very frustrating because the customers keep calling and the work just keeps coming and we can not do anything.  So when they do start working we will have plenty to do, computers are great when they work, but we are truly crippled if they are not.  Oh well, enought with the complaints.

I ordered the recent Susan Graver TSV, should  be getting it by Wednesday, I love tunic tops as I am tall.  Really hoping this fits.I ordered the blue I plan on wearing it with slim legged black pants and ballet flats.  I am going with Mark to his 40 year class reunion and may wear it then with black ankle pants and blingy black ballet flats... depends on the weather.

I am trying to get my house really clean this week, and then next week will start getting stuff together for the beach!  I am so excitied.

I hope that everyone is healthy and happy!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

Hi girls!  It's definitely cooler here; it was only 80° last time I checked - a little cool to use the pool. I did spend some time on the float reading yesterday, but the water was chilly.  Being on the float is fine, but getting in and out of of the water  is the problem.  Cat Frustrated

I took the dogs for a drive last night and picked up some bananas at Walmart as I'm making banana split cupcakes later this week for the ISP tech who was super-helpful and the tellers at the bank.  Today I need to get the pacakges ready for the female troops' "Ladies Night Out" party and - now that it's cooler - I need to get some cleaning done; I have another tech coming out tomorrow, as my internet (advertised as the fastest in the country) has been very slow and cuts out from time to time, so that's my incentive.

I woke up to some sad news; I checked my FB to see if anything exciting had happened overnight, and learned that a friend from Hawaii at whose home we used to have Wednesday night Bible studies has died of pancreatic cancer.  I know I'll see her again, but I feel awful for her husband - they were married when she was something like 14 (she was pregnant) but it turned out they made a wonderful marriage for themselves; her husband - who was a few years older - was wise enough to allow her to have some time to grow up and would watch the baby while she went out with her girlfriends.

Charlene, the book I enjoyed was "O is For Outlaw" - that's been an enjoyable series, and clean - which is a rarity these days.  (One of the reasons I like cozies.)  And yes, a M.Div. is a Masters in Divinity.  I'm toying with the idea of getting a degree in aviation, since I once had a charter airline of my own and flying is one of my passions.

I agree - people don't want to be held accountable for their actions these days - they think it's all about them and what they want.  The former friend's sister seems to think I should put up with making plans with her thoughtless sibling, and allow myself to be let down 2 times out of 3.  I don't think so!  I try to be very good to my friends, but it seems more often than not kindness is not appreciated.  Well...her loss!  Better to not have a friend than have one who doesn't respect you and treats you like dirt. Cat Frustrated  (It took me many years - and much heartache - before I learned that lesson!)

I need to lose a few pounds as well; it's hard, especially since I don't like to cook just for me and tend to not eat as well as I should.  That's one of the reasons I love Trader Joe's so much - they have a lot of frozen foods that are really, really good, and are non-GMO.  Their produce is also excellent and usually tastes the way God intended fruits and veggies to taste.  I think I might have to go again next month, as I'm really enjoying the corn I got and hope I can still get some more.  If I knew it would be so good I'd have gotten a couple dozen ears and frozen them.

Jean, I know how much you love subbing; maybe you can continue but with less frequency, like once or twice a week.

Linda, enjoy your exercise and your ironing.  I don't remember when I last ironed something....

Hope you get your work computers up and working soon, Rosa.  I need to get the new laptop out today, as this one is intermittent and I have a couple of light homework assignment.

Well, lunch is going to be home-made pizza (I bought dough from the crust at Trader Joe's), then I'll get down to work.

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

Linda and Susan--Thank you for starting the thread.

Linda--I hope the senior lunch program went well. With all your activity at the gym, it is understandable how you keep slim despite all these good luncheons.

Susan--I agree with you; I don''t need the TSV here. It might make a good way to provide small gifts but I'm not thinking gifts at this time, and I certainly don't need to stuff my face.

Snicks--I would say that you also had an active day, and have earned the right to relax in your recliner. Your dog is making sure that you get your rest.

Bernie--When doubts arise about work, I also think what can be done with the money earned. You have the goal of no mortgage by retirement and that is a great motivator.

Charlene--I think you will find that the Dream Jeannes will give a little as you wear them. I have found them to be very comfy. I thought of you last night when the news was talking about the decline in the stock market and wondered if you were taking advantage of the lower share costs.

Rosa--Sorry the computers went down. I do hope you enjoy the SG TSV. The beach vacation will be so wonderful. I know it will seem that time is passing too slowly.

Arlene--I am sorry that your Hawaii friend has died. I do hope your internet is fine tuned so you can get the most out of it. We have become so dependent upon it that slow and lack of service is not desirable.

The correct heart monitoring system was awaiting me when I got home, so got the system up and running, and transmitted a test to the company which is Cardionet. Time will tell what will come out of this, but 3 weeks of 24/7 monitoring should be revealing. This makes the second round of doing this but the purpose is different this time.

It is odd but I feel less tired right now after a busy day of work than I did when at home doing things. I guess it might be a result of the rewarding interactions with the students.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUGUST 25)

birdmama, good for you, focusing on the mortgage. Glad you and the new manager are getting along, so far. You are not boring at all, lol.

cerb, glad that your purchases are wise ones. I too have more than enough 'stuff'. Glad you like your new Dream Jeannes also. I've never tried them, good to know they are nice.

fbm828lsm, computers down, oh no, hate when that happens. Makes for some hectic times once it comes back up, which hopefully wasn't too long. Hoping you like your SG tunic top when it arrives. Have fun at the class reunion. And especially your upcoming trip, what fun that will be.

FHG, sorry about your friend in Hawaii. I believe I would just 'unfriend' that whole group of people if they are creating problems. Hope you enjoy your classes...good luck with this last round.

I knew I was extra tired this morning, and took a short nap, woke up with a migraine. Luckily for me, I don't get real bad ones, once I get past the aura part it is just a dull headache for a few hours. I had defrosted one of three small packages of the Italian beef that I had frozen after the family reunion, so I made open face sandwiches, then popped in the oven to melt some provalone cheese over top for our dinner since I am not feeling tip top. Made for a really good, quick dinner, also had thick slices of fresh tomatoes, and grapes for dessert. I received my replacement rollers for my Emjoi today(for my feet), glad it came as I was needing them. Nothing else going on. Smiley Wink
