Good morning, shopping friends. We are on a two-hour delay for schools because of new snow, ice and a wind chill of zero and single digit temperatures. Those aren't exactly good for those who have to wait outside for a bus or those who have to walk distances to get to the bus pick up.
I was up bright and early at 5am to turn on the news and watch the latest weather updates, accompanied by pictures of accidents. We do have practice in driving in this stuff but the best drivers sometimes will be involved in a situtation they can't control.
I read some of the threads and was immediately attracted by the magic words of "B Makowsky." I had to check out that thread despite not needing handbags. In this TSV case, I'm not tempted. I watched the organizing show and saw a couple of items I thought would work great, but I put them on my wish list.
Today's TSV does not tempt me as I have a supply of Dr. D that I am still using. One of my shopping resolves was not to buy another beauty product until the current was nearly used up. I do like her products but I don't know that I will continue to buy a TSV type set. I do have that "First Aid Cream" that was sold earlier today; it is very, very good.
I still have not bought any non-essential items since January 1, a feat I consider amazing. I know I went on a shopping diet for one month prior to my going to Australia two years ago. Time does fly, but I think it is important to watch how much I am spending on fluff and new products that promise much but may not be any better than what I am using. I know Jan often uses that phrase "cash in the trash," when he talks about food being wasted, when talking about benefits of a Food Saver. The reality is that it is not only food that can become "cash in the trash."
I need to go through my wish list and see what can be deleted. I'm sure that there will be products which will cause me to think, "Whatever was I thinking when I added this?" Sometimes time can be our best friend when it comes to purchases.
I do need new pillows so I've been checking options out at various places online as getting to the city doesn't seem to be a reality soon. I did see a set online at Kohls I would love to check out, as the reviews are excellent.
I'll be working again today. One of the best ways to determine if a purchase can be justified is asking yourself, "Am I willing to work the amount of time required to pay for this item?" In the case of the TSV, if shipping and tax is included, I would have to work 6.4 hours to pay for it.
Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely!
