SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Good morning, shopping friends. I'm not working today but I was awake at 5am. Right now, I'm watch Susan Graver after a couple of hours of at home tasks. Scrubbing the bathroom again is such a fascinating task as is "What is that lurking in the back of the cabinets at a height hard for me to access?"

I do work tomorrow and Monday I have an orthopedic appointment. My right leg has been giving me some problems so I called this morning and was able to take advantage of an opening just created by a cancellation.

My Clarks Ashland shoes that I bought at Amazon at almiost half the price of them at the Q have shipped. I've bought shoes from this seller before and there were no problems.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Good morning friends! DH has not had any luck finding a job here - I'm expecting it may take a while to find a supervisory position for him, if we can at all.  He does not have a degree, just turned 60, and those positions are not often advertised. He did get a job offer from Amarillo, but the whole point of moving back home was to be here. So Amarillo is out!

So glad to read that all are doing well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Kathleen--Hope that DH finds a new job soon. Positions are very competitive now but I'm sure the right one will soon emerge that meets geographical requirements.

meallen--Thank you for the lovely graphic.

I need to go to the Sheriff's Office to pay taxes, as well as the Assessor's Office. Since I have plenty of time today, I might as well get these tasks done while thinking of them.

I didn't get the air fryer TSV as I didn't think I would use it that much, plus it would take up valuable space. Today's TSV is lovely but I have jewelry enough not currently being worn regularly. When at home, I don't wear it and for a quick run to town, I usually don't bother with it then.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Morning, Thanx @KonaKat for the start, hope your leg feels better, did you strain it?  I have an air fryer & do like it, but yes it does take up room on the counter, if I put it away I wouldn't use it, so my counter is getting crowded.  Good deal on the Clarks, I'll have to check it out

@meallen616 A beautiful Thursday to you my dear

@Rock_chick hope DH finds a good position in your town or nearby, sometimes when you least expect it some thing turns up.

Woke to thunder & lightning this AM wow what a storm, will have to get out in the yard & survey the damage, but first heading to the store before the weather gets too unbearable.

Stay Well

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Essie--I understand there is a George Foreman TSV coming up. I use my George Foreman nearly every day but it is getting old. I thought I would wait and see if the TSV would be a big improvement over my aging one with removable plates. At that point, I'll continue debating the GF, versus the air fryer, versus no purchase. There is always time to purchase a new gadget. Sorry about the bad storm; they seem to be hitting several areas with varying degrees of intensity.

I have gone to the Sheriff's Office and "rendered unto Caesar." Now, I can have a quick lunch followed by a close encounter with the Kindle and the new book I'm reading.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Good morning all, and thanks @KonaKat for the start this morning. Nice that you got your errands ran early today along with household chores, so you can spend time with your Kendle this afternoon. Hope your Clarks work out well for you. I also hope your issue with your leg is not anything serious.

@Rock_chick, sorry your DH has not found employment yet, hopefully he will soon.

@meallen616, thanks for the graphic, very nice.

@spix, hope you don't have much, if any, damage from the storm. I didn't watch or get the air fryer after all. I really don't want another 'thing' in my kitchen, no room on the countertop for anything else. I have found that once I stopped watching Q, it's really easy to just not switch over to that channel anymore. I do want to watch when Linea is on and I think that will be on the 22nd (will have to double check that date) but I will have to remind myself or I'll miss it again. Oh well, don't need any new clothing either.

I have been out this morning trying to get the mowing done, got the back trim work done, but boy it is humid, I am dripping with perspiration, had to come in and cool off. Now I need to get the front trim done, then the rider will not be so hot. I'm taking a day off from window washing, lol. Also need to get to the store, my dog is out of food, so that is not an option. Nothing exciting here. Waves to all.....

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Good Morning/Afternoon, and thanks for getting us started Jean.  Glad you were able to get that appointment so quickly.  I hope the doctor can help your leg.

I think I may have purchased those same shoes from Amazon a year or two ago.  It is difficult for me to remember the style names, but they certainly look a lot like my pair of slip-on Clark's  Very comfortable to be sure.  I can definitely understand why you returned the TSV when you found the other pair so comfortable and at a lower price on Amazon.

Sorry you could not sleep later on a day when you did not need to get up early.  That is my problem all the time.  Somehow, my internal alarm refuses to turn off -- while I don't get up at 4:00 when it "goes off", I really don't get back to sleep either.  I am working on that problem, and I am optimistic that I will succeed.  Glad you were able to get some errands done -- like paying taxes -- yuck, but necessary.  I did not get the air fryer TSV either -- I wasn't sure how often I would use it, especially since I am adjusting to cooking for one.  So far, so good on that score.

Hope your DH has better luck soon, Kathleen.  The perfect job nearby may be just beyond view.  Alternatively, maybe he could find a non-supervisory position that he would like just as well.  Some employers recognize that a more experienced worker can add a lot to their operations.  I do hope he isn't too discouraged.

Nice graphic again meallen.

Hope no damage from the storm, Essie.  Good luck at the store.

Sorry it was so humid when you were doing your outside work this morning, snicks.  Definitely can't be out of dog food.

Waves to Arlene, twinny, Bernie, Susan, Marijane (I like hot weather as well, much more so than cold), Barbara, Charlene (glad there are no fires there), Rosa, Karen, butterfly, Gayle, LindaR, pinky ann, and all of our posters and readers.

The painter should finish up this morning -- I like the contrast color as well.  I have been busy re-arranging things in the house.  First, I need to take some pictures, etc. to DH facility, but I also decided to move things from one room to another, donate things that I don't want, etc.  It is difficult for me to figure out what works and not, but so far, I'm pretty happy with the changes.  The painter assured me he will fill in the holes from decorations that are no longer on the walls when he paints the interior.

I have a caregivers group this afternoon, and I'm really looking forward to attending.  I made a pineapple bread yesterday evening, and I'll take that to the "club" since they enjoy having some homemade goodies.  Probably not homemade as well, but....

Enjoyed another wonderful swim yesterday afternoon, and I think I'll try to go swimming at least two or three times a week until it gets to cold for me.  The pool is heated, but outdoors, so some swim year-round, but I can't stand the cold air when I get out of the pool.  Weather wimp to be sure.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Snicks - you inspire me with how much work you get done!  My big accomplishment of the day has been to turn a compost pile.  I should be outside pulling weeds, but my allergies/sinuses aren't happy.

I sure do feel sorry for people involved in the flooding.  Hope you are all safe.

My DD is back in the classroom again.  As the rest of her fellow 4th year vet students continue doing work in the clinics and do externships, my DD has stepped back into the classroom to learn more about large animals/livestock.  She is the only student in her vet school class who is a mixed animal specialist, so her studies are split.  Her 3rd year the focus was on small/companion animals, while her 4th year the focus is on large/livestock.  Later this school year she will be doing clinical rotations with the large animals.  It's strange for her, of course, because she is now in a classroom with 3rd year students that she doesn't know.

As for me, not much going on here, though I am slowly but surely making progress on the piles of articles and clippings I've saved over the years.  ~  Charlene

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, AUG. 18)

Good afternoon ladies -- Wow, sounds like everyone is up and rolling.  So far, I've had breakfast, planned dinner and looked around to see what absolutely needs to get done today.

After so much laundry over the weekend and cleaning, running errands the last 3 days; I'm wiped out.  I think just a refresh in our bathroom and that's it today.  I plan a bit of reading this pm.

Tomorrow back to exercising and then leftovers all weekend.  Staying in this weekend as the weather will be rainy and cool, and next weekend we are going on a 'Rails 'N Ales' adventure with friends.  It's a several hours train ride with samples of local breweries, served with goodies.  We did the 'Beerfest' last year, it was so much fun.

Kona - I hope you can get some relief for your leg.  Waking up, when you could have slept in -- always a disappointment.

Rockchick - hope your DH can find something he'd like to do soon.  The good part of this story is that you were able to return home.  That has to be worth a great deal.

Thanks for the beautiful pic - Meallen.

Spix - hope your weather settles down.  We had a huge lightning show on Saturday and last night, scary.  Hope you don't have any damage.

Snicks - I enjoy when Linea is on with his things.  Always very tasteful.  Hope you find something you love.  Our windows are awful, need to address them.  Maybe after the rain storms.

Linda - it sounds like the redo will be amazing when it's finished, good for you.  It always feels good to have a 'facelift' around the house.  Hope you love it.

Charlene - just getting through papers, clippings, is a feat within itself.  I hate when that kind of stuff piles up and it happens quickly.  I did a bit of that myself a few days ago.

Enjoy your day gals, pack away the CCsWoman Surprised
