SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, APRIL 14)

Hi Everyone!

it's cloudy, windy and raining today. The temps have warmed to the low 60's and the humidity is up. UGH!! We'll at that stage where it's warming during the day but then drops to the 30-49's at night. It takes a while for the house to cool off and is still rather warm by night. Yesterday, we decided to open all the a/c vents to vent some of that warmer air up into the attic. We have an attic fan that vents it to the outside.Next week they are predicting one last blast of winter temps. That probably will happen since I have flowers that are blooming.

Today will be some cleaning. I will have to wait until tomorrow for the Easter shopping for cards and a few gift cards. I'm so far behind this year. Today I have an allergic reaction to something in the air. My eyes are swollen, rash, etc. Hopefully, it will be gone by tonight. Change of seasons really bring this on. I take medication 24/7 but I'll still have these "off" days,. UGH!!

There is one last house for sale in our area. I'm surprised that it hasn't sold but maybe the "rush" is over. I think those two women from that smaller real estate sold one third of the homes for 2-3 times the original value. Good for them and those home owners that updated. I'm holding my breath for the property taxes for 2023.

I did watch some of the Garden shows but decided I better divert my attention to dusting, etc. LOL I am still pleased with the Cubi Jur and use it every day. We figure that if we lose a pound or two then it was worth it.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, APRIL 14)

Fressa, yesterday was rainy and  60's.  Today, we are under a wind advisory until this evening. It was an experience getting groceries this morning.   It's supposed to be in the 40's for the high temps for the next 10 days.  I hope that you are feeling better soon.  Our maple trees are budding and the tulips are coming up.

There have been quite a few houses for sale in our town and they have sold very quickly at outrageous prices.  The first house that my parents built when we were two years old went on the market last month. I go by it everytime we go to the gym.  I don't think it's been sold yet.   It was the cutest little brick house a block away from our grade school which I only lived in for a few years as our parents built a duplex across the street on the other side of my grade school.  Lol.

We didn't go into the hot tub today as it's too windy & we don't want a tree to kill us.  Yesterday, a 61 year old dump truck driver was killed instantly when the wind blew a tree over and it hit him in the truck.  He was from a town 45 miles away that we wanted to go to Kohl's, Cracker Barrel, Hobby Lobby etc. last week.  Our plans changed when we heard on the radio that a 17 year old girl, 15 & 11 year old males started a fire in Kohl's bedding dept. & it did millions of $$$ in damages and is closed.

The big news here is that a 29 year old male stabbed his 60 something mother early this morning. I got up at 5:30 to go to the bathroom and heard sirens.  Then I saw red flashing lights.  It was a block south of our house.  I can see it from my sewing room window.  he mom is recovering & her son was arrested a few blocks away.  It's stunned me as we live in a normal quiet town of 10,000 people.

No gym today as we are both tired from grocery shopping and we are getting geared up for Easter lunch with our 3 dgc on Saturday.  I just hope that the wind dies down so my dh can hide the Easter eggs outside.

Hugs to all of you.

meallen, it's a windy 45° day here in S.  WI and the chill factor is in the mid 20's.  Yesterday, it was in the middle 60's.  I am not a hot weather person, so I am enjoying it as long as I can.  Next thing I know  it will be in the 80's & I will be praying for September to return.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (THURSDAY, APRIL 14)

Good Afternoon/Evening and thanks for getting us started, Fressa.  Hope you feel better soon.  Good luck with the cleaning.  Also hope your property tax doesn't go up too much due to the high sale prices for homes in your neighborhood.

Fingers crossed that my DD's house sells quickly because they have packed so much that they can't do much in the house now.  The plan is to have it on the market next Wednesday.  I know the interest rates have gone up, which may cool the real estate market for a while.  But, as they say, it only takes one person to buy the house.

Very long story, but she and DGD ended up leaving the hotel in the middle of the night due to some very noisy neighbors who kept the dogs up and barking.  She woke up this morning to find that one of her car tires was totally flat.  She needs four new tires, and Walmart doesn't have any that fit her car.  Fortunately, her regular garage was able to order some and will put them on next Monday.  Not cheap, but necessary.

I would be upset to have a violent stabbing n a house nearby, Glenda.  But, my assumption is that this was a family issue, so no danger to the rest of the community.  Those winds sound horrible as does the destruction done by the three teenagers setting a fire at Kohl's.  Hope you can go back to your hot tub soon.

Nice pictures as usual meallen.

The hospice supplies were ready earlier than usual, and there were fewer stops than usual, so I am all finished for the week.

It started off cool (40 degrees), but is up to 82 degrees now.  I think I will change in to short sleeves before I take my walk.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda L, how sad that your dd & dgd had to leave the motel in the middle of the night and then discover a flat tire.   The stabbing down the street was family related.  The story was just on our Capitol  City TV station.  There were two stabbed.  The Mom is fighting for her life and another son got stab wounds helping his Mom.  It disturbed me as we live in a very nice neighborhood.   I know a lot of our neighbors, but not this family.  I did know the couple that used to live there, but they passed away quite a few years ago.

Its still windy, but sunshine feels good in the house.

Whoo we had some wind here yesterday - gusts near 50 MPH.  Looks like we're in for another round today with gusts near 40 MPH.  The outside birds worked hard to fly anywhere.

There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise

Twinny70--Wind gusts always make me nervous. Wind can do so much damage.I remember us being on the interstates and the wind so strong that it was moving the car into the next lande. I'm glad those trips are over.

A  stabbing in the neighborhood. So upsetting but at least the cause was a family dispute. That's still disturbing but somewhat reassuring that the safety of the neighborhood is in tact. You really never know what goes on behind closed doors. So troubling.

Good luck hiding the Easter eggs.

LindaLatte--How awful for you DGD having to leave the hotel in the middle of the night and having a tire situation. One good thing at least is they were able to find tires for her car. I try not to think about it too much but the supply chain situation is certainly unsettling.

Glad that your DD has the packing almost completed. I'll cross my fingers that she get's a buyer sooner than later.

Birdmama---That's some wind!!! The hubby put a brick on the porch rug to keep it from blowing around. The bench sits on that rug so I have some concern that the brick will be air borne before the bench. He thinks I worry too much. LOL  Glad that everything stayed in place.
