Hope you treat yourself all week.
10-09-2024 12:13 PM
Thank you for all of the birthday wishes. My dil brought dinner so we had a party here. It was fun...
Yes, Fressa, I will treat myself...I have my eye on a beautiful tall winter figurine at Home Goods yesterday. It was very reasonably priced.
the temps here are changing..it will be warm today and tomorrow and then more seasonable temps arrive.
prayers for all of those in the hurricanes path. My brothers winter rental was damaged in the last hurricane and they are in the direct path again.
my plan for the rest of the week is to reorganize one of my closets. lol. I can only work in short periods of time.
Linda..prayers for Bev.
have a blessed day.🦋🦋🦋🍁🍁🍁

Hi Everyone!
It's sunny and cool today. It reminded me that we need to put the outdoor covers on the furniture and switch the a/c to heat. Most likely that will be a weekend project. I forgot to buy a new a/c cover for the outdoor unit. This one is much larger than the old one. I think I probably missed the season so I may have to find am old bench cover and duct tape it to the other one. UGH!!!
The leaves are about 2 weeks behind this season with their colors. We have a few trees that turn early and one tree that is the last to turn. The bulk of the others turn during the main Fall season. We already bagged leaves last weekend so I hope I don't have to buy bags again for this season.
Birdmama---I remember my Grandmother had a walnut tree in her back yard. She had so many walnuts on the ground that the squirrels couldn't keep up. We would bag them for her. Lots of heavy work.
LindaLatte---I wonder if the banana supply was affected by the short dock strike. I haven't seen any articles on what happens between the docks and the trucks with the delays in the grace period. Hopefully, I'll make it to the grocery store tomorrow.
I did watch some of the beauty awards last night. I thought they had some sales but I was determined not to purchase another thing. (just like clothing) I want to use what I have and see how long that lasts.
The city/township announced a record setting tax increase for propertytaxes yesterday. I thought this was all settled in the Spring....but
It was nice to see MaryBeth on with Kim G this morning. It was so relaxing. It was cool enough so the dogs wanted out on the patio most of the morning that I could watch some fashion and the dogs. What a treat.
Have a good afternoon/evening.

Good Evening! Glad you had a nice birthday celebration, Barbara. Hope you purchase the decoration you liked. Take your time with the closet reorganization. I am sorry about your brother's place in Florida and hope this hurricane doesn't do more damage. Praying for all of those in the hurricane's path.
We were speculating that was what happened to the bananas, Fressa. I went to the store today, and there were plenty. (I didn't buy too many since they ripen very quickly in this hot weather.) One of the grocery stores was out of eggs except for some very pricey organic ones ($9 a dozen or so). The other stores had some eggs, but I decided to wait until I need more-- maybe when I do a banana run early next week. LOL
I remember covering the outside AC, but have not done so here in Arizona. I think I asked and was told it wasn't necessary. That is a shame about your property taxes -- yikes! One of the ballot questions is raising the bond (I think) for the local school district. It will result in higher property taxes, but they really need the money. The taxes here are considerably lower than those in Maryland, so I can't complain.
It was slightly cooler here today -- "only" upper 90's. Our highs may be down to the upper 80's by next Thursday -- about time. Given this weather, it is difficult for me to think of buying any winter clothes.
I didn't watch the beauty show yesterday, but I ordered the Laura Geller spackle that was on sale with no S&H. I use it almost every day, so I'm sure it will be needed. I did the same with some items on the Amazon Prime Days yesterday.
Some not great news here -- the local movie theater is closing -- they never recovered after COVID. The "Friends of the Library" (which provides money for scholarships, special programs, books, etc.) is disbanding because no one wants to volunteer to replace the executive director (who has done the job for 11 years), treasurer, etc. I didn't go to the theater often at all, but I have been a Friend of the Library for many years.
I delivered hospice supplies this afternoon, and will be sitting with a patient tomorrow while her caregiver (husband) goes for a medical appointment.
Waves to Fressa, Barbara, Bernie, Susan, Shanus, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Wow that's quite a price hike in labor costs for the car @Fressa

Wow what a bummer that the local theater is closing and the Friends of the Library is disbanding @LindaLatte
My week has been quiet. Went to the dentist for semi annual cleaning. All looks good. I noticed some chipped enamel on the back of one of my 2 front teeth and mentioned that I wanted it filled. Dr. asked if I grind my teeth. I said nope and I am an open mouth breather at night, lol. She asked if I would be open to wearing a bite guard at night. I'll think about it. I go to get the tooth filled on the 22nd.

Good Evening! Glad it is quiet there, Bernie. I have never worn a night guard, but I know my DD did so for years. Given the difficulty I have with staying asleep (no problem with going to sleep but wake up often), it would probably be hard for me to tolerate.
I'm glad the storm wasn't quite as bad as predicted in Florida, but it was still a big one with more loss of life. And, the power outages must be horrible given the heat and humidity.
My hospice visit turned out to be quite interesting and nice. I think they (wife is the patient and husband the caregiver) will want to have regular volunteer visits which may start as soon as next week. They have been married for 66 years.
I stopped by the hospice office briefly, and found that the newly appointed deputy director (that is not his real title, but...) had turned in his resignation. What a mess. Very complicated.
I saw that it is Rick's 30th anniversary at QVC. I met him when they did the first 50/50 tour (all 50 States) in 1995. I remember several of the ladies in line tried to set him up with their daughters/nieces, etc. He was pretty nice about it, but I thought it was funny.
Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Barbara, Susan, Shanus, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.
Sleep well everyone!
Hugs,
Linda

Good Morning/Afternoon!
Today, the local Fire Department held their annual community appreciation pancake breakfast. I try to go every year, and walked there this morning making it before the 7:00 a.m. start time.
Fortunately, there were already many people there and the food was hot and ready. Contributions are voluntary, but they had a huge boot at the front of the station and I was happy to donate. The scouts were there helping with the beverages and bussing the tables. I sat at a table with a couple who have lived here 25 years -- very nice.
I will be visiting my favorite hospice patient this morning and spending most of the day in the hospice office.
Still hot here with a high of 99 (maybe 100) degrees predicted for both today and tomorrow.
My senior lunch program partner has been having some health problems (including being exhausted in the afternoons, etc.), and saw the doctor yesterday. She will be fitted with a heart monitor to see if that may be the cause of her problems. I am sure Patty would appreciate your good thoughts and prayers.
I have to admit that I am extremely worried about Glenda (aka twinny), and hope she posts soon.
Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Barbara, Susan, Shanus, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope everyone has a nice evening.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Everyone!
It's cool and some sun today. We are to reach the high 60's with no rain in sight. Hopefully, I'll be able to cover patio furniture, etc. this weekend.
We attempted to switch our "smart" thermostat from cool to heat yesterday. I though the old one was awful....this one is worse. Still no heat in the house and the nights are in the 30's. Hopefully, we'll get it resolved today. This is why I wanted a simple thermostat. UGH!!!
I watched some of the Holiday programs and got some ideas. I want to scale it back a bit this year. The back yard display is going to be simple with a large Frosty and 10" "old fashioned" style Christmas lights around him and the hedge. Hopefully he will withstand any wind gusts better than the tree did last year.
Sending prayers to all those in need.
Have a good afternoon/evening.

Good afternoon. I have my ac on...my apartment is 76 and that is too hot. It is lovely outside. I cannot figure why it is so warm. I will have to leave a note for the maintenance man, who is very nice.
i tried doing a couple of errands. My body did not cooperate at all.arghhhh..I returned home, took half of a pain, put some good smelly stuff in my diffuser and am sitting on my large heating pad. I empathize with anyone who lives in chronic pain.
Fressa..do you have pretty fall foliage?? Minnesota is much more colorful than here..
Linda..too bad about the new hospice director quitting.
you have nice people to visit. We never used visitors for Vyrn because I was there. The heat in Az remains so hot. I read that La Niña is starting so the winter in Az will be warm
is dd making any progress with her repair s.
Good to hear Bev is settling with hospice
enjoy the rest of the day. My dil is coming over to watch a movie with me. 😊
