SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (Sunday, October 6th)

[ Edited ]

Good Morning. it's mild and breezy here in my little corner of the world.  I went over to my sister's house yesterday and mowed her front and back yards.  I paced myself and took a break between her smaller front yard and larger backyard.  I didn't want her to worry about and it should be good for 2 to 3 weeks since the grass isn't growing much these days.

I've been on the hunt for winter boots.  I have quite the collection of winter boots already however my right foot appears to be 1/2 a size larger than it was before I broke my heel, lol.  I'm back in a medium width but I still can't stand any closed back shoe.

I ordered these Muk Luk boots from JCP earlier in the week and they were delivered yesterday.  Winner, winner.  I can pull the sherpa looking tongue open far enough to slip my foot into the boot without rubbing the back of the heel against the boot.  One less thing to worry about.

It's been months since I visited the gas station and I will find out today the prices at the pumps.  I need to tank up Camille (my car) and get some gas in the can for the lawnmower.

The grass may not be growing much but my trees are shedding leaves.  It's easier for me to use the mower like a vacuum than it is to rake my yard.

Waving hello to Linda, Fressa, Shanus, Twinny, Barbara and Susan.  If I missed anyone forgive me.

Hi Everyone!

It's another warm and sunny day here. What a surprise ! It's been an oarnge breathing weekend sot that's the downside. That rating always knocks me off my feet but there are many other worse issues.I didn't have much energy so I did those little "things" that nag at you while you're usually doing the vacuuming.

LindaLatte----Sorry to hear about your DD and the storm damage/isurance "mess". My bf in SC said that they got a ticket with an assigned number that listed when each damage item would be addressed. She said that dates assigned span many months even into their winter season. My heart aches for eveyone.

Glad to hear that the retirment party went well. Sorry to hear about Bev's accomodations but hopefully things will improve or another option will become available.

The only item that caught my eye on free shiping was JM body butter but then I remembered the one that was on back order since August. Not sure if I should cancel that one or order this one. I did order the set of Kuhn Rikon scissors. I have one set in use and we are always looking for them. It will be a treat mpt tp have to run up and down the stairs when you need to snip something.

Have agood afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (Sunday, October 6th)

oops posted too soon.😜

Fressa, have you organized your stuff. One thing with downsizing is it forces one to determine how an item is needed. I know you have a lot of pain..that hampers productivity.

Linda your retirement party for your hospice Director sounded very lovely. I know that you put a lot of work in that and everything else you do in your life. I wish I felt better so that I could get out and do some of the things that I would like to do

fingers crossed your DD gets an estimate pretty soon, but I know that stuff can be very slow, especially with the devastation that has happened in other states. I've been to Asheville, North Carolina and it is. It was a beautiful place

I normally don't get too stressed by the news, but between the wars , the election, and the ravage from the storms, I am going to start watching the Hallmark channel

have a good rest of your day.🥰🥰🍁🍁

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (Sunday, October 6th)

Good Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  I intended to start a new thread today, but didn't have chance before I needed to get ready for church.

Sorry the weather is causing you to have breathing difficulties, Fressa.  I try to have multiple pairs of scissors since I tend to have problems finding them when I need them.  No excuse since I am the only one in the house.  I still haven't found anything tempting enough to order, but it is possible.

Those are very cute boots, Bernie.  Glad that they fit you, and will be useful this winter.  Nice of you to help your sister, but please do take a rest day.

Hope you have fun with your son and family, Barbara.  I'm sure you are enjoying your weather more than what we have in Arizona.  Just ridiculously hot.  Thank goodness the mornings aren't too hot.

The hospice director sent me a nice email about the party -- I knew she enjoyed it, but it was thoughtful for her to send it.  By the way, everyone seemed to like the chicken dish.

DD seems to be handling things pretty well.  Very grateful that they didn't lose power or have terrible flooding.  The stories of people in several areas are very upsetting to say the least.  Not only the loss of life and injuries, but the total devastation of homes, businesses, infrastructure, etc.  in many areas.  I completely understand your turning away from the stressful news, Barbara.

Waves to Bernie, Barbara, Fressa, Susan, Shanus, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (Sunday, October 6th)

Hi Everyone!

Today is our first cool day with some clouds. The temps are in the 60's. Time to bring in the gazing balls and glass wind chimes.

I forgot to schedule my car inspection for this month earlier than today. They are really booked! They no longer have Saturday appointments. I managed to get one of the last appointments  three weeks from now. There was also a notice that the labor rate was increased from $75/hr to $150/hr. Has anyone else noticed large increases like this or is it just my state?

We had some critter digging up the side yard last night. I'm guessing it was the ground hogs because we have quite a few of them. I'll have to find some information

Birdmama---I liked those boots that you found. Hope you have recovered from all the mowig.

LindaLatte--Hope your hospice schedule is a bit lighter today.

Sydgma1---I think I'll be "forever" decluttering. I'm trying not to keep every little item that I have for years and years and stream line it "a bit". It is so m;uch easier to clean. It will be a work in progress.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (Sunday, October 6th)

Good Evening!  It has been another 100 degree day here, but I think that they are predicting high temperatures in the upper 90's starting tomorrow.  Still very hot even for this area.  It is cool and comfortable on my morning walks.

Yesterday I had an interesting OLLI Zoom class (free speech) and spent the most of the rest of my day with hospice (patient visit and office).

The senior lunch program today went pretty well except for they shortchanged us on bananas again.  Fortunately, there were some leftover apple slices from yesterday plus my banana bread.  After lunch, I participated in a group video chat with several of my former FDA colleagues and then went to the gym.

Happy to report that Bev had a couple of visits from hospice yesterday, and she seems to be okay with them.  She gets tired very easily and said that she was completely worn out after the visits, but....

Sorry about your problem with getting an appointment with the garage, Fressa.  I am just trying to get an oil change and check-up but the garage hasn't called me back so far.  I know they are busy, but....  I don't know how much they charge per hour, but I don't think it is as high as where you live.

Waves to Bernie, Barbara (Happy Birthday!), Fressa, Susan, Shanus, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Sleep well everyone.

Hugs,

Linda
