SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME -- Saturday

Good Morning/Afternoon Ladies! We are having a rare cloudy day here in Arizona. And, we are expecting rain, which would be a blessing. It is extremely windy however, and I just had to secure the patio umbrella and chairs.

Hope that Jean is in the city and enjoying her time there. Also hope that her heat will be repaired soon.

The movie we saw last night was "Enough Said" with James Gandolfini, and it was pretty good. Nothing too heavy/important, but entertaining.

Hi Sonya -- good to see you posting. Sounds like you have been busy having fun there. DH is doing okay -- he started a new medicine on Tuesday which is supposed to help with his memory. We will see if it does.

You certainly have been through a lot twinny. I'm so happy that you are able to walk, etc. despite having such a serious condition. Good that your doctor thinks that you are doing better than expected. I am from Maryland (DC suburbs), and lived there my entire life until moving here about five years ago (and only permanently three years ago this coming May). Many of my friends are still in Maryland, as is my daughter and her family and my SIL and her family. Sadly, my older relatives have all passed away, as did my younger brother (only sibling) three years ago. DH's son and family live in Maryland as well. I will stay with my DD when I am there -- usually take oldest DGS's bedroom, and he moves downstairs.

I like Clark's shoes, but no TSV for me today -- not sure they would be comfortable for my feet and so not a need. I ended up buying a clothes dryer yesterday. It won't be delivered until the end of the month or so, but it was a need. I did hold off on the washer. Hope it makes it until the summer at least.

Today I have my usual Saturday laundry and financial stuff, plus we are invited to a neighbor's get-together this afternoon.

Waves to Kathleen, Rosa, Jean, Susan, Marijane, LindaR, Nancy, Karen, Val, Gayle, Arlene, Kathy, and all of our posters and readers.

Have a good day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME -- Saturday

LL, Looks like everybody is busy today. Here it is cold and a little snowy again. We got 1" of snow last night, they are saying 1"-2" this afternoon & the third system coming tonight which might give us another 3"-4". Then cold as has been our norms this year. We might hit 30 degrees next Thursday. It is amazing when 30 degrees feels good.

Do you like AZ or MD better? I am sure the heat would be the worst to get used to. It is neat that you get your DG's bedroom when you are with him. I remember when our DGS's were little and they wanted my DH & I to sleep in the bottom bunk of their bunk beds. Their dad built them a wonderful bunk bed with a twin bunk on top and a double bunk bed on the bottom. The extra DGS would sleep on the floor by us.

Hope you have fun with your neighbor get together this afternoon. It seems funny to hear people talk about getting together with neighbors this time of year. I hope that your DH does get good results with his new meds. My Dr. that I saw yesterday is wonderful to me. He is always concerned that I may have a backslide. He always tells me that as long as I can put my thumb to my forefinger I am doing great. At one time I couldn't pull a tissue out of a tissue box. I hope that those are always distant memories for me. For the most part feel wonderful if I don't over due it. Right now I am quite rested as it has been too cold to go away or do much of anything except stay home.

I hope you like your dryer and hope you can hang onto your washer for a while longer yet. My washer is 19 years old, so I hope it lasts a few more years yet too.

Hugs to all of you out there. Hopefully this cold snowy weather will be gone soon.

Thank you for starting us Linda! You sound like you have a busy day ahead. Why so long to get the dryer delivered?

DH and I just went and bought our chicken coop. We figured we would wait a month to put it together if we end up staying here. It is strange to be in limbo like this but I just remind myself that no one really knows what their future is. We had a nice breakfast out and grocery trip, now back at home to relax and get some down time in.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME -- Saturday

Good afternoon ladies. Had an early meeting this morning. I didn't sleep well as I didn't want to oversleep and miss being on time.

Daylight savings time is next week!!! I do enjoy the evening daylight but I seem to struggle with the time changes.

Twinny: I know that you have been through so much with your health. You are a reminder to treasure the good days.

LindaL: your neighborhood gatherings sound nice. A gal I went to HS with sold their home last year and they motorhome full time. She posted a pic on Facebook of the snowbirds heading out----but I know it is still very cold and snowy.

Kathleen: Oh it is so hard (for me) to be at loose ends----I know there is a plan---and you will learn it In time but I know the waiting can be difficult.

Weather man is staying chances of some thunderstorms tomorrow and tomorrow night. I need to remember to unplug and turn off all but the basics.

Twinny you have had quite the recovery!! I'm so glad you are able to do so much more. DH's back has been hurting. Finally he schedule MRI. I hope it doesn't cost so much that he decides not to do it.

Linda my boss wants me to take some time off Spring Break. Are you free at all? I don't want to take all week off but we should do something fun. I see we got a lot of rain chances over the next week. I need to lay out my clothes - my life goes so much smoother when I lay them out.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME -- Saturday

Hello Ladies,

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

We were expecting warmer temps but it turned out to be 15 degrees cooler than the weather forecast so no reading on the porch today, back inside.

I spent a lot of time this last week doing housework. We are out of town more often in Jan/Feb and things sort of slide so now I am playing catch up.

I haven't been watching too much QVC lately, really trying to avoid making a purchase. This is probably the first year in a long time that Christmas giftcards really lasted several weeks. I decided to not even use them unless an item was deeply discounted AND even then I would only purchase if I had a coupon as well. It's amazing how much that can extend the life of a gift care.

To all the regular posters: have a GREAT weekend! I enjoy reading all of your posts! Gayle

I have been sorting through old makeup and discarding stuff that is too old or that I just don't use. I found a grocery store near me that discounts makeup 80 to 90 percent and I think it is mainly because new products are introduced. It has been nice because I have been able to get brands such as Revlon or Loreal for one or two dollars a item.

Gayle! Good job on the housework. I need to do that too, catch up here. Always so much to do. Where does all this stuff come from?

I did buy my red swimsuit this week, and bought a black dress that I had purchased and sent back and kicked myself for a month for taking it back during December.

LindaL: I do recall hearing about that movie. Last one before he passed.

Gayle: Wow that is a huge discount on cosmetics. They can really be pricey and even the drug store brands can add up quickly.

Kathleen: Cute items. I have decided I don't need any clothes---hope to stick with it for a while longer.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME -- Saturday

RC, That chicken coop sounds like fun. I got an email from a church friend today saying she has so many eggs, that she hopes to sell them at church tomorrow. Hope your DH does get his scan and also pray that his back feels better soon. You are so right that we never know our future. I am just glad for my many good days. They are real treasures to my DH & I.

Kittyfan, I can't wait for daylight savings time to start next week. I had forgotten about it as it used to be the end of April. We got an inch of snow overnight. Then as soon as my DH took the leaf blower to get rid of it, it started to snow real hard again and we we got another 4" of that white stuff. He just finished up again. Now they say about minus 30 tomorrow.

Gayle, I have a good friend from church and her name is Gail. Every Tuesday night she & I try to beat our husbands at cards. They can be real stinkers about losing. We have to sometimes let them know who is boss for the night.

Hugs to all of you out there.
