Good Evening! It is cloudy and cool here today, and we are expecting cooler weather tomorrow when the high is expected to be in the upper 50's. Quite a contrast to the weather we had a few days ago when it reached the low 80's.
I am feeling better today, and finally managed to take a walk longer than to the end of the street. Baby steps for sure, but progress.
Since I hadn't heard anything from Bev's son, I contacted a mutual friend who told me that she passed away in the early morning hours last Sunday. I know she was happy being in her own bed, and her neighbor/friend said she looked quite peaceful. Thanks for all your good thoughts and prayers. Her son isn't responding to calls, etc., and no one knows about funeral or memorial plans.
Today I received a letter from my doctor saying that he is retiring at the end of the year, and no one else in the practice is taking over his patients. I have spent quite a lot of time trying to find a doctor (or nurse practitioner) who is taking new patients and is a preferred provider of my insurance. I have developed a list of four possibles. Doctors are scarce in this mostly retirement area. Not fun.
My new glasses were ready, so I was able to pick them up. So far, I like them very much.
Waves to Fressa, Barbara, Bernie, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Linda @LindaLatte
I'm glad that you are feeling better and were able to take a walk yesterday. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope that your memories of the good times with Bev are a blessing. I'm sorry that you have to look for a new doctor and that your current doctor didn't give you much notice (as far I'm concerned).

Linda L, I am slowly getting my life back to a more normal life style. Sorry about Bev and you losing a Dr. My neurologist at the UW Hospital is retiring after 50 years, but he has a new one ready for me which I am thankful for. My rheumatologist at my local clinic has retired, but I saw his replacement a few months ago and she said I don't have to go back to see her.
So much has been going on with me that I don't know where to start. In the middle of July, I started to get a lot of abdominal pain after I ate a meal. My dh took me to our ER, where they immediately took scans. They told me that I had ovarian cancer.& recommended that I go to the UW Carbone Cancer Clinic. It's only an hour away and the best cancer clinic in the country.
My surgery was 08/20. I had two surgeries as they did exp. surgery and found cancer in my colon. I was in the hospital for 12 days. My surgeon was wonderful and she told me that both surgeries were a success. Now I am getting chemo treatment. Two down & 4 to go about a month apart.
I lost 15# as I had no appetite so I bought several nice jogging pants/tops. My appetite came back three weeks ago and now I am hungry all the time. Yippee!
We had a beautiful Fall, so my dh & I were able to take a two day road trip to La Crosse and down along the MS River.
Hugs to all of you.

How wonderful to see you posting again, Glenda. I can't tell you how often I have thought of you and prayed that you would be okay. I know your health journey has been extremely difficult, but glad the chemo is almost over and the surgeries were a success. Also happy you and your DH were able to enjoy the Fall and even took a trip.
Sending many hugs,
Linda

I took another walk this afternoon, and I'm pleased with my progress. Hopefully, I will be able to walk regularly again.
While I had planned to go to the gym, I remembered how difficult it was to exercise with a mask, and decided to wait until that isn't necessary.
I'm still researching doctors/nurse practitioners. I read on the local e-bulletin board that both my doctor and his wife (who started the practice) are retiring and the only doctor left in the practice isn't accepting new patients unless they have a different type of insurance. The letter said that they have been trying to find replacements, but no luck so far. Really hope that I can find a nurse practitioner or doctor to accept me as a new patient.
Things have really changed. I remember when I first decided to go to a "regular" doctor (in my early 20's), I looked in the phone book and found one in the "A's". He was a wonderful doctor, and I went to him for well over 35 years.
It was much more difficult to find a doctor here in Arizona, but I don't think finding a doctor is easy in many areas of the country. Plus, I have heard from my older friends that some doctors set an age cut-off (like no new patients over 85).
Thanks for all your comments about Bev. I sure will miss her.
Waves to all of our posters and readers. Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Linda L, I am on a journey that I never had imagined. Two cancer surgeries instead of just the hysterectomy which was planned. I had a great surgeon and she went through it step by step the next day. Yes, it has been a very painful recovery and I have cried an ocean of tears. I am doing a lot better & I am so thankful for all of you, my DH, our ds (Dr./chef and our ddil whom is a surgical nurse. They were here for three days last week & he fixed a fabulous beef pot roast with all the fixings. Yum! Yum!
They were an important part in my getting better each day. I have had a lot of support from our church, neighbors and friends. I am going to PT twice a week for strengthening my legs, hands etc. as I was wheel chair bound for at least 6-8 weeks after my surgery. I get my next infusion tomorrow morning in the Capitol City. Then it will be lunch out and a bit of shopping. Just a few comfortable sweatshirts/pants to match. This is my new wardrobe for at least most of the winter months.
November has been kind of dreary so I am looking forward to sunny days ahead.
Hugs to all of you.
Glenda
