SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, MAY 14)

Good afternoon, everyone! Happy Mother's Day to all who are mothering in any specific way. This includes the traditional mother, fathers who have to assume the mothering role, and mothers of furbabies.  Anna Jarvis, the founder of Mother's Day, was born in my state. Supposedly, in the last ten years of her life, she became despondent and regretted that she began the holiday because of its commercialization

I am not a mother except to the cats I have had as well as students. This year marks 25 years since I celebrated my last Mother's Day with my mother. The day after she had to be admitted to the hospital never to return to her home. She was a modest woman with high standards. I miss her very much.

As far as shopping goes, I did buy the Clarks TSV in sand. I forgot to mention that I did buy the D&C swim dress TSV so I could have something like that on hand should I need it. Believe it or not, I haven't had a swim suit for years. The TSV swim dress fits perfectly

I'm off to read. Have a good day. If you shop, shop wisely.

I guess we were posting at the same time, Jean.  My original post is below.

I'm glad you like the swim dress TSV.  I had placed a waitlist order for the suit, but then canceled when I remembered that I already have several swimsuits.  Not sure that I need a different style, but I was intrigued.   Hope you like the TSV sandals.  They look very comfortable, but I just don't need any more sandals -- I keep having to repeat that to myself.  I'm actually waiting for a different pair of Clark's sandals that I have in two other colors.  Really wanted the navy, and decided to take the leap when they were in stock.

I'll read the article later.  Sorry Anna Jarvis regretted starting the holiday.  I believe it is too commercialized, but still can be a good day for reflection.

Hugs,

Linda

Happy Mother's Day!

I took DH's daughter to the airport early this morning, and she is certainly a nice daughter and kind to me.

My sweet daughter sent me an Amazon package which I opened earlier in the week on her suggestion -- several fun things )like a belt to hold my phone and keys while walking.  I saved the lovely card for today.  Of course, I am thinking about my Mom and other Moms who have passed as well.  And, I know many of you are doing the same.

It is  partly sunny, warm/hot, and will be warm/hot and a bit windy today.   I'm not complaining.

I need to do my financial review and ironing later today, but before then I'll be going to the gym and visiting DH.

Hope everyone is having a nice day, and please post if you have time.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, MAY 14)

As a bonified bird mama (hand raised 3 birds, 2 of them straight out of the egg), I extend Mother's Day greetings to my fellow Moms out there.

The last Mother's Day with my Ma was in 2010 and that one was bittersweet because I knew it would be her last due to her failing health.

This is the first Mother's Day for my nieces since their mother, my sister passed away in December.

Although they are mothers themselves, I know they ache for her.

There are so many times I wish I could spare them the pain that comes with living long enough.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.
