SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, SUNDAY, MARCH 9th

Good Morning!

It is chilly here this morning (30's), but expected to make it up to the mid 70's.  Hope the weather in your area is okay.

As many of you know, most of Arizona does not go on DST, so now I am three hours behind East Coast (including Q and my DD's) time.  It is an adjustment because I have to keep in mind not to call  my DD too late and many TV programs are on an hour earlier. At least I don't lose an hour of sleep.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday. Please post if you have a chance.

Hugs,

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, SUNDAY, MARCH 9th

Hi Everyone!

We're on DST. I'm not a fan of the time switch but I wish it would settle on one way or the other. The switch over always messes with my sleep and the dogs chow time.

Our weather was a bit of everything. Today is cool but warming up and lots of sun. Not bad at all. I see more green stems in the front door garden so I hope the freezing temps are gone.

I did some grocery shopping over the weekend. Butter was $4.50 (down from $5), Eggs were $5/dozen (down from $7.50) Salsa and any item in a jaw was up $2 each.

Put gas in the cars and it was actually down by 20cents a gallan. We've not seen it under $4 for at least a year. (I think)

I hope everyone has recovered from their medical procedures, tests and challenges.

I had some computer problems over the weekend but so far today everything seems to be working.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, SUNDAY, MARCH 9th

I've lived with birds nearly 20 years and I swear that my circadian rhythm synced with theirs when I retired.  It's daylight and darkness as far as I'm concerned, lol.  I adjust the clocks because there are going to be appointments that I need to keep during the year and I have to be on the same time as everyone else.

My heart goes out to those who still work - I remember how brutal it was flipping over to DST.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, SUNDAY, MARCH 9th

Good Afternoon!  That is great about some of your grocery and gasoline prices, Fressa.  This week, Safeway had many produce items on sale for 99 cents, so I am a happy camper.  In fact, I went back this morning and purchased more of some of my favorites.  I noticed our gasoline price was down as well. Wish that prices would stay down, but that is unlikely at best since much of our produce comes from Mexico.

I never cared much for DST either, Bernie.  The advantage was that it was lighter later in the evening.  Certainly something about working that I do not miss.

I visited my hospice patient this morning, and will work in the hospice office this afternoon.  After the visit, I went to the ATM to get some cash to pay my landscaper who is coming tomorrow to pull weeds and spray pre-emergent weed killer on the lawn.  It really helped last year.

Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Barbara, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, SUNDAY, MARCH 9th

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Our weather keeps changing -- rollercoaster for sure.

We had a high in the 70's yesterday, and it was quite windy and cloudy with some small showers  overnight.  Today, there is a chance of rain, but the wind isn't bad.  We have a wind advisory and chance of thunderstorms with a high in the 60's tomorrow.  Friday's high is expected to be in the low 50's.

Yesterday was extremely busy with the senior lunch program (lots of participants), a meeting at the hospice office (I missed much of the meeting due to working at the senior lunch program, but....), and then a video call with friends who used to work at FDA.  I tried to take a walk after the meeting but only made it a short distance because the wind was so strong.

Another volunteer told me that one of our former patients passed away (she had moved to a different hospice), and another (who had "graduated" from hospice) is moving back to Ohio where her stepdaughter has found a lovely assisted living facility that is much less expensive (around $4000 a month less) than this one.  She will move from being a room with two others and shared bathroom, to her own room and bathroom.  And, it is more modern looking.

I was supposed to have my hair cut this morning, but my hairdresser is not feeling well.  I will be going to the grocery store(s) soon.

Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Barbara, Glenda, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, SUNDAY, MARCH 9th

Good afternoon it is a fairly reasonable day, but we are supposed to have a bit of a storm snow, rain, and ice starting on Friday . Amie and crew are out in Colorado skiing so I hope they get back before the storm hits out there. They're good winter drivers so I don't really worry about them too much.

I survived my injection yesterday without any anesthesia. It was very uncomfortable, but I made it. The doctor did a good great job of talking me through it because I really wanna know what was going on. I am in some pain today, but it will take about a week for it to kick in. I'm not dysfunctional in doing laundry and trying to sort clothes but now I'm sitting on my heating pad after taking some Tylenol

As I said, I'm not watching the news because it is so upsetting and there's nothing that I can do about it Vyrn and I had a great talk about things on the way down to Fargo yesterday and on the way back his wife is on the other side as I say so we can't talk too much when we are all together lol

Daylight savings time doesn't bother me too much. I did enjoy being in Arizona where we didn't have to switch anything, but my circadian rhythms seem to adjust to whatever time zone I'm on. I never had trouble when we were crossing the pond to go to Europe. I had more trouble coming back to the states. It took me a few days to readjust.

Linda, you always seem to have such a fulfilling life. I would like to get there but with my back the way it is until things straighten up it is going to be difficult. I know they have a lot of activities at the senior center here in Grand Forks, but I haven't had the energy to make it there yet. Maybe as the weather gets better and my back gets better. I will try to do that

I hope everyone has a great day. I try to live mine in peace joy in prayer🥰🥰🍀🍀

Barbara @sydsgma1  I was really out of sorts at the beginning of November and more or less got it together after a couple of weeks.  Woman Wink  Life has a way of demanding your attention and my Presto started to wind down and that snapped me into reality and reminded me of what matters most.

I keep up with current events a little differently these days.  I'm like a bumblebee that stops by the birdbath for a sip of water.  I dip in and out of the news long enough to get a grasp on the latest.  This way I'm able to sleep at night. Woman Happy

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, SUNDAY, MARCH 9th

Hi Everyone!

Today is sunny and cool. YIPPEE!! The heat still runs at night and late afternoon so ....The weather channel had a few nasty storms in the forecast for all the states so I guess it's a wait and see what we get. I was anxious to get outside and start raking around in the gardens but didn't want to make it too easy for the wildlife to start munching. My knees are still aching so that usually means a storm is going to arrive.

LindaLatte--Your volunteer work must be so demanding with what position do you fill first. There always seems to be more need than staff/volunteers. At least, that's the view I had when my Mom was in a facility. One of us was there with her every evening. They always seemed to be short a few workers and I'm guessing that the need has only grown.

Sydsgma-1 ---I hope you start to feel some relief from your procedure sooner than later. I'm not the most patient person when it comes to illness. I usually start organizing a desk or dresser drawer,

Birdmama---I noticed that some seasonal/time changes effect me more than others. This year the dogs turned 11 which really hit me. I think because this goofy vet office  calls them "old". I've had GS dogs live to be 15 so my definition of "old" does not match there's. I have to remind myself to take some tiime to unwind from it all. That's always a "work ;in progress" for me.

Hope everyone is recouping from all their health challenges and feeling a bit improved with each day.

Have a good afternoon/evening.
