Good Afternoon!
Greetings from the "heat dome" area. Our high for today is predicted to be 99 degrees, but starting tomorrow, we are expecting temperatures of 100 degrees plus. They have issued an excessive heat warning for Tuesday morning - Thursday night -- 106 degrees or more. Hope the weather is okay where you live.
I had a very nice, long lunch with two of my former work colleagues who live in the general area. They were quite impressed with the restaurant I suggested, and it wasn't crowded at all.
My back/hip pain is reduced, but still an issue. At least I feel better.
I plan to go to the gym this afternoon, and have some cooking, cleaning, and ironing to do. Not exactly exciting, but..... One of my fellow hospice volunteers invited me to dinner this evening, but I declined since I didn't think I could handle going out in the evening with all my aches and pains. It was certainly nice to be invited.
Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Glenda, Barbara, Susan, and all of our posters and readers. Please post if you have a chance and have a nice evening.
Hugs,
Linda

Good evening ladies, hope all is well.
Linda - Thank you for starting us today. Sorry you are having such a heatwave so early in the year. Glad to hear you had a nice lunch with your friend, hope you had something good. Don't overdo it at the gym.
Did some yardwork yesterday, so today I took the day off. I do need to buy some more flowers for my flower pots on the deck, but just not feeling the love.
Not much more to report from here, hope everyone has a great evening.

Linda L, I am glad that your pain is a bit better. I am sorry that your temps are so hot. Thank goodness for AC. We have been in the 70's for about 10 days. We got quite a bit of rain on Saturday, but it was a nice light shower. Your lunch sounds great. I had a good lunch last week with two of my former co workers. We went to our favorite Italian Restaurant. I am glad that your pain is a bit better each day.
Susan, my outdoor work is 6 tomato plants along the driveway. We bought them a few weeks ago and two of them didn't look good so my dh dug them out and we bought two more replace them. Now they are all looking good.
Barbara, good luck with your move. It's nice that you have Sydney to help out. Little by little is better than none. I keep telling myself that.
Bird Mama, my prayers are going out to you and your sister. You have some very nice pieces of equipment. I have never used crutches, but I did use a wheelchair for about 8 months. I have a transport bench over my bathtub, so I can shower, but can't fall off. I have a rollator that I inherited a while ago, a cane for looks right now & a potty on wheels. 🤔🤔🤔
Hugs to all of you.
Glenda
I get my next infusion tomorrow morning in the Capitol City.

It's another beautiful sunny 70's day & I am at my infusion clinic. Things are going well. We are going to do a little shopping and have a nice lunch when I am all done. Probably around Noontime. Then I will have a lazy day at home.
Last week was busy every day. We played euchre at our senior on Monday and we picked up our Subaru on Tuesday. The Cross Trek was a 2024, drove nice & had a lot of options.
On Wednesday and Thursday, I did house work and washed a couple of windows. I hope to get the rest of the windows washed this week. Not exciting, but I am almost caught up.
Our youngest dgs came down on Friday morning and we went to "Cars on the Square" on Friday night. There were over 200 car's on the Square. Quite a spectacular bunch cars. It was nice to have him here until Saturday afternoon. He just finished his college online classes and starts summer classes next week. He has a job and a gf.
We are looking forward to our hometown "Balloon Rally" this Fri-Sun. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. It's been a few years since the last one & it was mostly rained out or too windy.
Hugs to all of you.
Glenda

Hi Everyone!
It's cloudy with a cool breeze today. Very odd. This week they are forecasting a cold night with warm temps during the day. I'm not sure how the flowers and tomatoes will handle it. Last week we had quite a bit of rain and wind. I don't think I could adjust to the hight temps that LindaLatte has. GA was too hot for me and they never reached the 100's when I was there.
PaLady-I weeded the front garden on Saturday and that's as far as I got with the weeding. I'm trying to pace myself with this chore so we'll see how this plan goes. The hubby trimmed more scrubs and hedges so those look much better now.
Twinny70--Cars on the Square must have been great!! There's an antique/classic car group here and once a year they show all the cars at a shoppping mall and then drive thru the twonship roads. So muc time and work to bring these back to life. Nice to see when you can.
I noticed that the Subaru line has incread with new models and a few from the past. We've been trying to check each quarter since our Legacy is old. Not the time to purchase but I figure we better start checking in case there's a sale. The big one was after Christmas around here but there wasn't much to select. Good thing because then we found out about our a/c problem.
LindaLatte--Glad you had a nice luch with your previous colleagues.
BirdMama---Hope you are tolerating your ankle as best as can be expected.
Sunday I tackled the linen closet and replaced all the spare bedding from vacuum bags into the Peeria storage cubes. Wha a difference for all that heavy bedding. It still needs some tweaking here and there and then there's the top shelf. I think I may donate some of that bedding and gain the space.
Have a good afternon/evening.

Good Evening! Sorry I'm so late in posting, but it has been a busy Monday.
Thanks for posting Susan, Glenda, and Fressa. Good luck with your gardening and house projects. Please don't push yourselves too much.
Seems like you and your DH find many fun things to do, Glenda. Glad you had a good time with your DGS. There are a lot of "classic" cars in this area, and they have car shows fairly often. It is amazing how much time and effort the guys (it is mostly guys) put into restoring old vehicles. I often see one or two on my walk in the neighborhood, and the drivers are so happy when I wave.
It was hot here today, but pretty nice on my walk this morning. I went to the hospice office early (long story). After an hour or so, I visited one of my hospice patients who slept the entire time. She usually likes to talk, but not today.
Then I went back to the office. I went home for a quick lunch and then to my annual dermatologist appointment -- fortunately all is well. Then, back to the hospice office for another couple of hours.
My back was bothering me this afternoon, but the heating pad seems to help.
I have been reading your posts on the other thread, Bernie. Please try to take it a little easy. I know you are frustrated. Hope you are settling in okay, Barbara.
Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Hello, pretty much same ole' same ole' here. The bruising is almost gone on my foot. I was sort of surprised just how much I bruised considering I'm supposed to be dealing with a fractured heel bone. It started at my heel, went up my leg past the ankle, under my foot and out to each of my toes.
Yesterday HSN had a today's special Tommy Copper compression stocking set and I came this close to ordering it. The swelling doesn't seem to be clearing up as quickly as the technicolor bruises.
I decided to wait until I see the doctor and we'll see what he says. I sincerely believe that the swelling would clear up if I moved my foot around more and wriggled my toes. Too scared to move or wriggle anything until I get more imaging.
The weather has been nice here and it looks like the heat will get ugly (92-96) starting on Monday. Sure glad I see the doctor fairly early in the morning on that day because I don't want to have to deal with heat on top of it, lol

Sorry you have to wait to see the doctor, Bernie. i remember when I broke my arm they said I had to wait for a while before seeing an orthopedic doctor. But, it wasn't a very long wait. I believe there were a lot more doctors available 20 years ago than now when it is rare to get an appointment quickly even for very serious issues like cancer or heart problems.
I think you were wise in holding off on the compression socks. As I have probably mentioned, I wore compression stockings for several months (including our very hot summer months) before I had my varicose vein procedure a few years ago.
The stockings the doctor prescribed were a very high level of compression compared to the socks usually sold here or on HSN. I think it is important to have the right amount of compression.
My walk was okay this morning, but my back was really acting up when I was at the senior lunch program. I even sat down for five minutes or so before we served lunch which is extremely rare. We had a very large crowd at lunch today, but fortunately I had helpers.
Later, my back felt much better, and I did okay at the gym.
Sorry your weather is turning so hot. We are suffering from the heat here (i think it made it up to 107 or so), but at least it isn't humid. It makes a difference for me.
Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Glenda, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers. Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Everyone!
Today is sunny and warm--not too bad. Wind gusts seem to daily so I don't know what's up with that feature. I try to remind myself to check the big patio umbrella because even though it has the vent in the top it still sways "a little" too much. Pation umbrellas have been a bit difficult to replace the last few years between quality and price.
Those HSN compresion socks caught my eye just like Linda and Bird Mama. I can only wear ankle or no show socks because of the pressure on bone and my surgueries. I need a light compression only or I have problems. I found that I need to order a size up brom the chart to fit for me. I wasn't sure of the fiber blend so I decided to wait and see the reviews.
LindaLatate---Sorry to hear about your back pain but it was good to hear that you were able to get to the gym. It does sound like you'll even busier now than before. Do you think that stress could be a part of it? I know that I seem to carry my stress in my lower back or shoulders. (especially my right shoulder.
Birdmama--Bruising is something else!!! If it wasn't on your own body it would be really interesting instead of a bit scary. It's a good sign that you can wiggle your toes. That's always my first step. Everything is still connected and that's a lways a good sign. At least that's what I try to remind myself. Crossing my fingers for your doctor appointment.
The twonship was back on our street the other day filling in the gaps between the road the driveway edges with tiny stone. They did a really nice job but hoping they don't spike us in taxes. The township already posted this week that our property tax is increasing to match the "revised" value of our homes. UGH!!!!
So far---the gardens are coming along except for the new iris that I planted. The existing iris on the side are struggeling so I'm not sure if it's our weather or what. I may try to transplant them but I have to find a place.
Tomorrow is the after install inspection of the A/C install in the afternoon. Glad they provide that check up. Now I can move on to the next big thing and just get it handled. The list was too long this season and I was getting too stressed. It will be nice when it's alll done and it's back to normal maintainece.
Have a good afternoon/evening.

Glad most of your gardens are doing well and they are doing a follow-up inspection of the AC, Fressa.
Today I had lunch with another friend and the daughter of one of our "newcomers" who died earlier this year. The last time I saw her and her Mom was when her Mom had a heat pump installed in the house (AC and heat). It was a pretty stressful time since her Mom wasn't well, and they were going to CA soon. Anyway, the heat pump, etc. were installed and the next day she called to ask me about how long it would take for it to cool down. Turned out that the installers had done something wrong (perhaps with the thermostat). Thank goodness they were able to repair it just before they went back to CA. Pretty frightening.
I think you may well be right about stress causing some of my pain problems. I have been pretty stressed about things going on at the hospice. Things are going better, and I have decided to back off on some of the extra volunteering and worrying I have been doing. Fingers crossed I stick with my decision.
It was very hot here today, and it is supposed to be so again tomorrow. Still not humid, but.....
I saw something on FB about Mary Beth making an announcement tomorrow evening, and wonder if she is planning to retire. She certainly has an adorable granddaughter.
Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Glenda, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers. Hope everyone has a nice Thursday.
Hugs,
Linda
