Barbara @sydsgma1 I noted your surgery date on my calendar by the desk. I will say extra prayers for you for a favorable outcome.

My post-op appointment went well. The cast that was applied during surgery had to come off to check the 3 incision sites and remove stitches. Everything is looking good. Ironically I haven't given my foot my thought. Nobody discussed the use of a thigh tourniquet with me before or after the surgery. I started bruising on the inner part and upper back of my right thigh on the Saturday following the surgery. My sister was freaked out and wanted to take me to ER. I consulted Dr. Google and when I saw post surgical bruising that looked like mine I learned about thigh tourniquet.
I can't describe how bad it's been aching. The bruising went down the back of my right thigh, and down the outside of my right knee into the cast area. Sitting on a toilet seat or kitchen chair was painful. There were a few times that I wondered if this was what a blood clot felt like.
When I asked the doctor about it and showed him part of my leg he said wow you're a bruiser. He admitted to using a thigh tourniquet like it was standard operating procedure.
I suggested that maybe future patients should be warned about tourniquet use before or after surgery so they wouldn't live in fear for 10 days like I did. Yikes.

LindaLatte--Thanks for the updates on Jean. Glad that she received good care and can return home. What a shame with her insurance company not paying.

LindaLatte---Thanks for the update on Bernie. I'll read her other posts.
What a nice story about the two senior lunch participants' wedding.
Your temps are much too high for me. These high 80's and 90's with the humidity just wear me down. We've had some rain but so far the storms have ended. I watched the weather channel and they had nothing but bad news to say about Hurricane Beyl making it's way. Looks like there are a ton of container ships stuck in the middle of their route. O guess I'll never adjust to hurricane season.
Gppd luck at the gym. Hope you get to use all of your favorite machines.

Birdmama---I'm glad your follow up appointment went well. I had never heard of a hip tourniquet but that was useful information to share. Swelling and brusing always are a concern. Good thing you found/had some information. Don't get me started with my thoughts on the insurance policies or doctors. IIt just feels like we've gone backwards instead of forwards. Hopefully your progress will continue to improve each day.

Hi Everyone!
I got behind on my messages. It started with the Kuerig quitting right after the cleaning. UGH!! Turns out it fried itself with the cleaning process malfunction. I had an old coffee machine in the donation collection so I got that one back out to use. I did find one on sale at Khol's today for $80. YIPPEE!
We received our property tax bill and fire insurance bills the other day. The increases gave me a migraine but ............
I saw a promo on QVC about a $10 off code to use until the end of the month. Just thought I would pass the info along. I couldn't find details as to what qualifies or not.
The wood on our front door was drying out so badly from the heat and sun. It took me awhile to find my "old fashioned" beeswax cleaner/mpostirozer. Two coats and it looks like new again. I bought a quart of the protectant to apply but I need the temps to cool.
Have a good afternoon/evening.

Good Evening!
Glad you shared more details about your post-op visit, etc., Bernie. I never heard of a thigh tourniquet, but I tend to doubt that you are the one of the few who had such a bad reaction.
My only experience with something related was when I was being prepared for a colonoscopy and the nurse used a very tight strap when he put in an IV. I was in the hall and no one checked on me or even walked by for what seemed like a long time (probably 30-40 minutes).
For one thing, I was very cold. But also my arm was very painful since he had left that tight strap on it. Finally, a nurse sort of breezed by, and I asked if they could loosen the strap since my arm was really hurting -- turns out that he just forgot to take it off. Yikes!
Sorry your Keurig broke, Fressa. Good thing you had a coffee maker in reserve and found a new one. I had a similar experience except I ended up ordering a new Keurig and had to wait for it to be delivered. After that, I decided I will always keep another coffee maker and some regular coffee on hand just in case. I know lots of people go out for coffee in the morning, but not me.
Sorry about your weather. Ours is not good either. We had a high of 104 degrees and are under an "excessive heat warning" on Friday and Saturday. The humidity makes it feel worse.
Getting those bills is always upsetting. Just received a new monthly "budget" amount from the electric company. Needless to say, the hotter it gets the more AC has to run. At least the AC is working. I honestly don't think I could live here without it.
I read on FB that Jean is getting ready for her move home on Monday. She is concerned about mobility, and she and her doctor have asked Medicare to approve a motorized chair. Sounds like a good idea to me.
The neighborhood ladies went out to lunch today, and then I went to the grocery stores and Walmart. One of the stores was having the once a month "senior day" (10% discount), and it was mobbed. The other store wasn't bad, but they were doing some sort of construction at the main entrance to the Walmart parking lot, and it was very difficult to find a place to park. The store was crowded and there were only a few check-out clerks. So, I went to the self-check-out which is always difficult.
The hospice supplies came in, so I picked up and delivered them. Access to one of the assisted living homes was down the same street as Walmart, and they had closed down part of the road requiring me to go through the Walmart lot again. Not fun.
Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Glenda, Barbara, Susan, and all of our posters and readers. Hope everyone sleeps/slept well.
Hugs,
Linda
