SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, JULY 30)

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone survived all the storms without too much damage and mess. I think we got lucky because it was a bit more intermitent than steady on Friday thru Saturday. It gave the drain time to catch up with the water flow. We had winds but thankfully the trees and branches stayed upright. Lots of bits and piedes on the ground but overall not bad. How is everyone else?

I did watch more of the CIJ than intended but with taxes to pay I wasn't tempted by much. I think having the house in a half way state of updating I am reminded about the amound of "stuff" I have. I did declutter a few cotton blouses in the closet and tossed a few t-shirts that I constantly wear over and over. They were looking pretty sad so out they went. I figure it's the only way I'll wear something else.

The weeds are out of control at this point with al l the rain but I'm holding out for some cooler temps before I tackle that chore. The few tomatoes that we have on the vines are turning red so that's good. We still have a few flowers so I'm hoping that we have a few more tomatoes this year. I guess it was too hot for them. Something thru the cycle off. On the other hand, the petunias in the front planters are going crazy so that looks nice from the top of the driveway. You never know with my "camo" thumb what's going grow.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, JULY 30)

Good Morning/Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Fressa.  Glad the storms were not too bad in your area.  Your flowers sound nice.  I love homegrown tomatoes, but I have been unable to grow them in Arizona. Way too much sun and heat.

We had some strong thunderstorms yesterday evening, but no damage as far as I can tell.  It was cooler on my early morning walk, and there were quite a few puddles.  But, we are expecting a high of 102 degrees today, and the humidity makes it feel a bit uncomfortable.  Not that the humidity is high as it was in Maryland, but it is high for this area.

Goof idea to put some new clothes in rotation.  I try to do that as well.

Cute graphic, meallan.

Yesterday, I received my Sketchers TSV shoes, and they are nice.  Not that I needed new shoes, but I have wanted to try the slip-ins and the price was lower than other places with no S&H.

Have a nice evening!

Hugs,

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, JULY 30)

Hello all, it was still kinda clammy from the humidity yesterday.  I lucked out and missed all the severe storms and rain at the end of the week.  This morning I studied my silver maple and pruned the offshoots (called s*ckers) within arm's reach.  I like to periodically prune back any kind of growth near the public sidewalk - can't have my tree smacking anyone in the head.  It had been almost two weeks since I mowed the grass so I did the front yard.  I'm going to do the backyard tomorrow.

I finally cracked open some of the windows and am airing out the house.  I have been relying on A/C more this summer because of the air quality issues.  The fresh air feels good.

I think I mentioned that I ordered a tupperware set from HSN.  I received it yesterday and am pleased with my purchase.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, JULY 30)

I plan to post more later, but couldn't figure out how to edit my post above.  I decided to exchange the Skechers TSV for a larger size.  When I first tried them on, they felt okay, and I liked that they were narrower than usual. But, yesterday I wore them for about an hour (on the carpet in my living room) and decided they were uncomfortably tight.

They were advertised as being "true to size", but my toes were being squashed.  Hopefully, the larger size will work for me.  Also hope the Q doesn't get upset since I have returned several items lately.  I need to be more careful.  Sometimes, Sketchers are too large for me (too wide and fall off my feet), but this time it was the opposite.  Oh well.....

LindaLatte--I'm having the same conversation with myself with the Revitalign (Vionic) slipons TSV that I just received, I'm not crazy about how they look but if my feet feel fine than I'll ignore the 'looks". They feel fine except for my one foot in one area. That's my problem foot so not sure if that will last or break in. I have some adjustment to the footbed but I'm optomist that it will work for me. I got them specifically for grocery shopping becaue it seems I'm in there for a very long time. By the time i get to the register my feet and knees are killing me. I wondered about the 1/2 size difference as well but didn't know if the footbed would play a part in the sizing or not. I remember them saying to stick with your regular size regardless....but???

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, JULY 30)

Decisions, decisions, Fressa. Not easy to figure these things out.  I usually by shoes on-line from Amazon since I have Prime so returns don't result in S&H charges.  But, in this case the Q price was considerably lower than Amazon plus there was free shipping for them.  I know it would be better to try shoes on at the store, but the closest shoe store is 18 miles away, and they often have limited brands, sizes, and colors.

I visited my hospice patient this morning, and she was doing fairly well.  However, she was sleeping a lot of the time.  I asked her if she would like me to put hand lotion on her the next time I visited, and she agreed.

I also walked Ms. Gigi, and she was a good girl.  Sweet little dog.

The tour company emailed my travel papers (flights, itinerary, vouchers, etc.), and everything seems in order.

One of my "grand dogs" was sick (vomiting, etc.), so DGD took him to the vet who found nothing wrong.  But, gave her some worm medicine for him and told her to hand feed him tablespoons of chicken and rice every hour.  What we do for our pets.

It just made it to 100 degrees today, but the humidity makes it feel warmer.

Need to get some cooking and cleaning done now.

Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Glenda, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.

Sleep well everyone.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, JULY 30)

Birdmama--I saw those tupperware sets and liked the pastel sets. I was so tempted but I recently found two L&L items on clearance that I ordered for the pantry supplies. I decided to pass on the tupperware but always good to know that HSN has it. I thought it was going out of business  but maybe this was the last supply. Who knows these days.

The hubby was outside on Saturday with the pole saw. There were a few skinny trees and limbs leaning and hanging from the storms. He thought it was better to get them down on the ground before and wind gust warning. It was blowing the big patio umbrella around like a top. It's always a guessing game to open them up to keep the sun from heating the family room or leave them closed so you don't have to babysit them. UGH!!

LindaLatte---Sorry to hear that your one of your grand dogs has tummy issues. No fun.

I started to make a batch of both plus ground beef and then just portion it out during the day. I usually microwave it to warm with some broth on it to make it moist. Our dogs have big tummies so they need to be somewhat full or that causes issues with them. I'l cross my fingers that he feels better soon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, JULY 30)

Good Evening!  I had a pretty crazy day, and ended up taking a nap at 7:30 p.m.  Finally back up and kicking.

DD said that their male dog (they are both tiny) was somewhat better, thank goodness.  The doctor recommended a new dog food that is supposed to be very good if they have allergies, etc., and she will probably end up buying it when she takes the female in next week to have her teeth cleaned.  Pet ownership can certainly be expensive.

I got up and out earlier than normal this morning because I had a gastroenterologist appointment at 8:20 a.m.  Cut the walk short, but made it to the doctor's office early only to wait until after 9:00 a.m. to see the doctor.  He has ruled out other possibilities and decided that I have irritable bowel syndrome which is apparently hereditary.  Anyway, he prescribed an inexpensive medicine, high fiber diet (which I already have), etc.

Made it to the senior lunch program in plenty of time, and it went fairly well.

Then, I raced home to eat lunch and get to the gym.  After the gym, I raced home to change back into my regular clothes since one of the newcomer's groups was having an early dinner at a local Mexican restaurant.  They want to start meeting four times a month on different days/times/places.  I think I will stick with the one meeting a month with them since I have other groups and activities.

After dinner, I went to pick up my medicine which indicates it can cause drowsiness and blurred vision.  I didn't event take it, but got so drowsy I had to take a nap.  LOL

Waves to Fressa (I had heard that about Tupperware as well), Bernie, Glenda, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda
