SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11)

Good morning, shopping friends! Ooops! Make that afternoon as I've been waiting for someone to start the thread. Snicks, you are missed as are others.

I've been watching "The Crown" on Netflix. My 10 inch tablet just died so I am using the Halo to recharge it and will compare the results to Bernie's experiments.

The Polar Express will deliver snow to the North of me for which I am very thankful. I am not a lover of the white stuff and could easily do without it. I tend to   "hibernate" during the Winter and do little. It is two weeks to the "Jolly, Ho, Ho" time at which time I will have a break. Hopefully, the weather will be good so I can venture out for something fun. Usually in Winter, I just venture out when I have to for appointments, etc. The positive about today is that it is one day closer to Spring.

No shopping today. I had considered going to WalMart to get groceries as I have that to do, but the warm house was so comfy that I decided to pass on exploring the cold.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely,

meallen--Love the graphic. I didn't have much Christmas shopping to do  so it is definitely complete.

I'm off to read on my Kindle and to cuddle with Midnight.

Hello Ladies.....good for you Meallen...wish I could say the same.....I do have a few more things to get  but it will be all ordered and delivered to my front door so I can say I am done too!   STill no big tree yet..but it will get done...it always does.

We are waiting for the snow..it is very damp and cloudy here Jean.  the supermarket was mobbed this morning.....they are saying it will be a messy commute to,orrow morning as it's supppse to change over to rain during the night.  I saw a news clip of O'Hare and thought of Essie...they are/were getting dumped on.....so many flights cancelled etc.  Hope Essie is warm and safe!!

That's about all from here.   HAve a nice day everyone.      Marijane

Jean, we got about 3" of snow last night, so we took care of it before bedtime.  We got about 3" overnight, so DH used the snowblower before venturing out for church.  It is light & flurry.  It will be cold starting on Tuesday, so hopefully it will kill the germs.  I stay in more this time of the year to avoid sick people.

It is hot tub time & maybe a nap as I am tired today.  Then I will tackle some Christmas cards.

I am so glad that our Christmas shopping is done except for gift cards.  I will get stocking stuffers one day this week.    Since we are hosting Christmas again this year, I need to find some gifts for when we play games after lunch.

DH just said "hot tub time.

Thinking about you Bird Mama too.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11)

Hello all, it's snowing here and I am happy.  I drove to a florist to only find it closed.  Roads were slippery as all get out, but at least I know where to drive tomorrow to order flowers.  Wake is Tues and Wed and funeral is Thursday.

After another experiment, I've boxed up the halo to return it to the Q.  There are danger labels about transport all over the darn thing so I think I will go to the counter at the post office to hand over the lithium battery powered unit even though I am using the Q's label.

I received my most recent JCP order yesterday - winner, winner chicken dinner :-)

Maryjane, it sounds like your Christmas shopping is going well.  We only buy for our DC & DGC.  DH & I just bought beef, so that is Christmas for us.  We also are planning to go on vacation in March.

Bird Mama. I am sorry about the florist being closed.  I am loving the snow too.  I never like a rain/snow mixture.  The roads are good so no worry there, plus we don't have to go out tomorrow.

Too bad about the Halo too.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11)

Good evening, again. I spent the afternoon reading. After getting up, the first thing I did was to check the tablet. The 10 inch tablet was fully charged and the light indicators on the Halo said that it was one-fourth discharged.

Essie--I do hope all is going well for you I remember being in O'Hare when a flight was cancelled because of weather. It certainly was an experience. It was near the evening and the flight cancelled was the last possible one, so I got a hotel room.

Bernie--I think I will keep my Halo. Sorry yours didn't perform to expectation.  As to charging cars, I saw some reviews that said they were able to charge 3 vehicles. I do hope you can get your floral arrangements done tomorrow.

Marijane and Twinny--Be safe in the snow. It is pretty but it can be dangerous to get out in.

I work tomorrow and then on Tuesday, I have hair appointment as well as PT appointment. Wednesday, I work again. I was to work Thursday but I may have a PT scheduled then. Time will tell.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11)

Hi everyone - Jean - thanks for getting us started this afternoon, lol.  I think spending the afternoon reading sounds nice.  meallen - I'm almost done shopping, then I'll be doing the Snoopy happy dance too.  Marijane - hope the snow fall you're awaiting is light and pretty.  twinny - I wanted to thank you again for the input about your mother and your experiences with her.  It's a nice heads-up, and encouraging when you know you're not alone.  Continued hugs as you go through the holidays without your loved ones.  Bernie - sorry the florist was closed, hope the funeral goes well (sorry for your loss), and glad to hear that your JCP order was a winner!

We went to a lovely Christmas party at a friend's last night.  She decorates every inch of her place.  My DH said that my decorating is modest in comparison, lol.  That'll teach him to complain!  Anyway, it was fun.  We had done a bunch of Christmas shopping earlier in the day, and I was relieved to find that it wasn't all that crowded.  I do believe the reports that more shopping is being done online to avoid the crowds and stress.

Hey - I have a question for you all.  My sister and I were trying to estimate shoe/slipper sizes for gifts, and maybe you could help me estimate.  I am 5' 5" tall and wear a 7 1/2 - 8 size shoe.  Would you be willing to share your shoe/slipper size?

Thanks - and waves to all  ~  Charlene

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11)

CERB, I am 5' tall & wear between a size 6 or 7.  I wore size 6 all of my adult life, but when CIDP kicked in 15 years ago, my feet seem to like size 7 mostly. Your party last night sounded lovely. I decorated more modestly this year too.  No BIG tree, but it still looks nice as I like sparkle & lights.  All of these firsts have been very difficult for me which really surprises me as mom was 95 & in a much better place with my dad. Dad passed away 25 years ago today & it still stings.  He always made holidays so much fiun.   Unlike my DH, I have had very little siblings help, so I think that has been the issue. I am excited to be having Christmas here again this year.  The 3 DGC are such a blessing.
