SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME(SUNDAY, DEC.2)

Good morning, shopping friends. It is a beautiful sunny but cool day here. Sunny is the key word!!

I don't feel the best as I feel like I'm tryiing to catch a bug. I went to the city yesterday when not feeling the best. By the time 7:30pm rolled around, I was so tired and felt so bad that I went to bed. According to the FitBit, I actually slept ten hours.

I've been watching QVC this morning, and found myself getting the Amazon 4k Fire Stick which is 10 higher at Amazon. I currently use a Roku which is several years old  and is starting to have issues. I would not be a happy camper, if I could not access Neflx. Hulu, etc.

I work 4 days this week, so I need to make the most of this day in resting and minor chores. I'll likely spend the afternoon reading a Kindle book.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME(SUNDAY, DEC.2)

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Jean - Thank you for starting us today.  I hope you are feeling better, you have a full week ahead of you.  The weather here today is just wonderful, I actually have two windows opened.  It is sunny and 60 degrees out.  I could take this for the rest of the winter.

DH's son came over today to get the Christmas decorations out of the garage attic.  I have a few more things to put out and I am done decorating the downstairs.  DH likes to put lights in the windows upstairs to that has to still be done.  It may wait until tomorrow.

Not much else going on here, having a fairly quiet day.  Hope everyone enjoys their afternoon.

I've got your back @twinny70

Here is twinny's contribution to today's thread:

Jean, I hope that you are avoiding a nasty bug.  Your week sounds busy which can be a good thing.  Yes, I must have been extra tired to have overslept yesterday.  I don't have to get up at a certain time on most days which is a good thing.  I am sleeping much more sound ever since we have been getting colder weather.

Susan. We could use some 🌞🌞🌞 today.  It is dreary, but the hi light is that we are getting snow ❄❄❄.  It is supposed to be sunny tomorrow.

The musical family that we saw last night were very good.  The 6 children ranged in age from 8-15. They were all great tap dancers, pianists, fiddle players & singers.  The program said that the parents home schooled 8 dc.  When the program was just about done, the father introduced their 4 year old son, 3 year old dd & the 11/2 year old baby boy whom was sleeping back stage. They have a bus and live in Canad.

Nothing exciting going on around here.  It is just nice to sit in my recliner and see snowflakes.  We had severe thunderstorms last night while the performance was going on, but at least we didn't have an ice storm.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME(SUNDAY, DEC.2)

Susan--We were blessed with great weather for the Fall or Deccember. It was 67 here at 4:30pm. I could handle Winter months like this so I'm very much with you on this. I hope your decorating goes well.

Bernie--Thank you for reposting Twinny's comments. Hope you continue to resist the JCP sales emails, etc.

Twinny--I'm glad you enjoyed the musical performances by the family yesterday evening. I do hope you get the snow you desire.

I spent the afternoon reading a Kindle novel while listening to Maroon 5 streamed by Alexa.  I got the Echo as a test subject for it before it was introduced to the public. Now, the price is far lower than when first introduced much like all electronics. I rememer the price of my first computer. Ouch!!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME(SUNDAY, DEC.2)

Good Afternoon!  Sorry you haven't been feeling well, Jean.  Hope you feel better and enjoy the Fire Stick. Glad you got so much rest last night.

Like you, I have a (actually two) older Roku units, but mine have not been giving me any issues.  I like the idea of controlling everything though Alexa, etc., but I think I would need to get another Echo to make this work since my Echo is in the bedroom rather than in the living room where I watch TV most of the time.  So, I guess I will pass on the TSVs.  Meanwhile, I impulsively ordered a sweater (D&Co. cardigan) presented yesterday evening.  I woke up in the middle of the night, and decided to cancel my order.  But, it was in process by the time I got up in the morning.  Oh well......  If I don't love it, I will just send it back despite wasting the return cost.  At least it was on free shipping.

Hi Susan.  Glad you got some decorating done.  You probably won't believe it, but it is cooler in Arizona than where you are in PA (highs in the 50's).  it is also partially cloudy.  We are having cooler than normal weather.  It was very chilly when I went to church and actually felt colder on the way out than the way in.  Church was good and the gym was okay.  I could not get on "my" elliptical at first, and used the treadmill for 10 minutes and then the elliptical.  I felt more tired than usual after exercising.

That certainly sounds like a talented family, twinny.  Glad you are getting the snow you like, and I hope you have a nice, if quiet day. Like you, I sleep better when it is cooler  The problem is that I don't want to get out of bed in the morning.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  The OLLI party was okay, but didn't last as long as predicted.  They gave away the centerpieces (faux poinsettia, and I won it by default at my table.  Some didn't celebrate the holidays, and others are not decorating much this year since they are not having family or friends over.  Of course, I'm not having anyone over either, but I have lots of decorations -- just for me.  Maybe someday I will decide to cut back to minimalist decorating, but not this year for sure.

Hope everyone has a nice evening and sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME(SUNDAY, DEC.2)

Yesterday I got as far as putting up one string of lights on the front porch and swapping out the door wreath.  In my defense it was windy and almost sleeting at the time.

Today it was sunnier and warmer so I decided to grab a few more strings of lights and start all over on the front porch.  It rained a little but I didn't get wet.

Yesterday I listened to a Michael Buble' CD that if I recall correctly was some kind of Hallmark bonus 10 years ago with a purchase.  Instead of his crooning pepping me up, he made me melancholyWoman LOL

Today, I listened to Prince on my mp3 player and did much better.  At least I didn't feel like crying today, hahahaha.

I'll take a couple of pictures and post them.  My exterior is not as decked out as many, however it does look cheerful to me.

Front Porch.  See the big fat evergreen shrub?  Gerry the groundhog lives behind it, under the concrete porch.

Front of house in the bay window.  This little decoration hasn't been out at Christmas since my husband's last Christmas in 2006.  I gave away the illuminated train set I used that year but I could never ditch the little snowman so I finally brought him back out.

The 'wreath' I found at Rite Aid for dirt cheap years ago.  Bow shaped with a cardinal nest in the middle.  I had the flash off of the camera so I apologize for the dark photo.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME(SUNDAY, DEC.2)

Linda--As I understand it, Alexa is built into the Firestick so an Echo isn't needed. It just listens to the commands and carries them out. My Roku is one of the first models made. Enjoy the poinsettia and your decorations.

Bernie--You have lovely decorations. I know many love to listen to Christmas music but it depresses me. The Christmas song I enjoy is "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" as it is funny and humor is needed at this time of the year.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME(SUNDAY, DEC.2)

@KonaKat  Jean I'd forgotten what was on that CD.

I'm a Burl Ives Holly Jolly Christmas kinda gal.

Little Drummer Boy can have me ugly crying in a minute.  I favor the version sung by Bob Seger however, anyone singing it will have me in tears.

I remember one time I was stuck in some bad traffic going to work one snowy morning.  The radio station played no less than 3 different versions of the drummer boy and I cried like a baby each time,

My mother loved the little animated movie and the song.  My sister Anna bought my mother a wind up Little Drummer Boy from Ashton Drake galleries.  It plays the song and the little boy's arms go up and down slowly to play the drum.

When Mom died it went back to Anna.  About 6 months after Anna died, her eldest daughter gave it to me.  I cried about that too.

I'm such a crybaby.
