Good morning, shopping friends. It is a yucky day but at least it is not snowing right now. I've been downloading some free Amazon Prime videos to my tablet to use just in case I need some entertainment while sitting in airport, or don't like the inflight movies, or for other boring moments. While doing this, I've been multi-tasking by going through paperwork, etc. and shredding. I seem to have gotten some motivation back and that is good.

I saw the Denim & Co. TSV. I guess I'm not much of a fan of this type of leisure wear for me but it might work for others. Looking ahead, the weather looks promising for me to be able to get to the city on Friday and have the CAT scan done, as well as another cardiology appointment. March 2 also looks promising to have the outpatient cystoscopy done. I really need these out of the way and delays and rescheduling just delays knowing what is going on.

With the unknowns in the future regarding medical issues plus the trip in late April, I am focusing primarily on purchasing needs. I have to admit that my grocery supplies are getting limited so that will be a big purchase in early March. In the meantime, I've just purchased some fill-in items. I haven't been in WalMart since December 31 to purchase groceries, and have only eaten out twice since the beginning of the year.

Good Morning! Thanks for getting us started Jean. Hope your weather is okay for your upcoming medical appointments. Glad to hear your organizing/sorting motivation is back. I realized that I have a whole lot of paper sorting and shredding to do, and I'm pretty determined to get to that today -- at least get started. You have certainly been disciplined with your grocery purchases, way to go. I just checked out the Denim & Co. TSV, and I think it will be easy enough for me to resist that purchase. It isn't horrible, but I like clothing that is a bit more structured on me. I'm also not a big fan of the tops that hang down a lot in back. As you said, I'm sure that it will work for others.

My lip is getting better, still doesn't look that great, but much less painful. I'm still puzzled about why I fell, but I am certainly trying to avoid doing so again.

I'm hoping to make it to the gym today after church, and also hope to go for a walk later. We are having cloudy weather, but it is pretty warm. High winds are expected later, but hopefully that won't make our walk difficult.

Linda--I am glad that your lip is getting better. I do hope you are able to go to the gym. Like you, the thing that grabbed my attention on the Denim & Co. TSV was how far it hung down in the back. I guess you could top it with a Lori top that hangs down at an angle in the front. It just isn't my style nor my comfort level.

I didn't sleep much last night, so after lunch, I'll be crashing with my Kindle for a couple of hours before returning to doing more things inside the house. Right now, I've just finished chatting with a friend so the work ceased during that time.

Hi ladies! I'm still amazed when so many of you talk about living in temperatures below 0 degrees. Brrrrr!!!! Keep warm and stay safe!

Rock-chick, I hope you're able to make a comforter out of your DD old shirts. I've never done that before, but it sounds special. I had fallen in love with some pre-quilted fabric on clearance at the store and bought it though there was barely enough. Well, after pre-washing and drying it, it shrank WAY more than I thought, so I didn't have enough. Piecing it together with some other pre-quilted fabric wasn't working because the batting made the seams too bulky. I dug through my tubs of cotton fabric and found several pieces that coordinated well. In the evening when I'm watching T.V., I have been removing the quilting stitches from the original fabric. The comforter itself is just sewn from 5" squares of the assorted cotton fabrics I have. Some people may think it's crazy to be removing all the prequilted threads, but I love the fabric and don't want to waste it. Hope that all makes sense.

twinny2 - I hope that your mother will be cooperative on future outings. My mother is approaching this stage in life. The other night I tried calling her several times and there was no answer. I was worried about her. The next day she told me that she was out until after 9:00 PM. She's been telling me for a couple of years that she doesn't feel comfortable driving at night and that she always tries to be home before dark. Then I find out that she has a regular meeting every Monday night. What concerns me the most is how she doesn't tell the truth about things. Sigh.

Jean/KonaKat - what book are you reading that is enjoyable? I know that you've probably told us before, but where are you flying? I hope your trip goes well. Also, I hope that your medical tests go well and that the results will be useful. Praying for your good health.

Linda - I'm sorry that you fell. I hope you're doing better now.

I did do a little shopping yesterday. QVC had a lunchtime special of Isaac Mizrahi scarves for about $8.50 plus the $3.00 shipping. I bought a couple. That was a pretty good deal. Have a great Sunday everyone

Charlene--I accidentally deleted this when I went to edit, so this is a short version. I am reading "Escape--A New Life." It has a 4 and a half stars out of 5 on its reviews on Amazon. It is an excellent book. It may still be free for download; it is worth reading. Where am I going? Back to Hawaii on April 20. I still have some interests there which I may be putting in the past tense this year.

I just lost my post. Jean, I am glad that you are at least not getting snow right now. Your shopping for needs has been very good this month. It will be nice planning your next trip too. I have as much fun planning my wardrobe as I do the trip. Not quite of course but almost!

LL, I am glad that you are feeling a bit better & that your lip is improving. It is hard to disguise flaws on the face like that. My DH still has a large scab on his knee. Now if I can only stop him from picking at it & making things worse.

Cerb, It is difficult dealing with aging parents. Mom is usually quite truthful as far as I know. I can see her home from ours. My main problem with her right now is when I am alone driving her around to do errands & Dr. appts. she can't wait for me to exit the vehicle to help her. She opens the door & takes off. Her eyesight has been very poor since last Sept, when she got an injection in her left eye. It went wrong & she got a horrible eye infection causing her to lose most of the sight in that eye & that was her good eye.

I sent an email to my brother whom lives about 22 miles away (in N. IL) (we live in S. WI) on Thursday night telling him about moms eye update. I know that he & his wife are very busy with one son in college in IA, another son in college in IN, one son in HS & a daughter in 6th grade. He just emailed me that he had been in IA most of the week while their son was in lots of swim competitions. He is an excellent swimmer & did very well. He did say he would call mom today & maybe get a few suggestions done. Now I feel guilty for asking for help as DH & I are retired, but sometimes mom can be so overwhelming for me.

It is cold today but nice & sunny. We went to church & enjoyed the hot tub. The Valentine's banquet at church last evening was very nice. There were 22 of us there with 16 young people doing all of the cooking & cleanup. It reminded me of being on a cruise ship at meal time.

Nap time while the sun is heating up the house so nice.

Twinny--Don't feel guilty for asking for help. You have your own challenges to face and for many people those are more than sufficient to make asking for help justified. Until someone has dealt with aging parents who are less than cooperative, they have no idea of the emotional and physical toil that results. I'm glad that you were able to get out and enjoy the Valentine's Day banquet.

I saw on FB that Kathleen was enjoying a day out with DH and her parents. As one who no longer has parents around, it is important to enjoy time with them whenever possible as no one knows when health concerns will interfere or make interaction more difficult...or even when they will still be around.

Hi girls!

Well, the two different weather apps I use each gave a different forecast for today: one said cloudy, and the other said rain, and the one with rain won out. Every last trace of the snow is gone, but thankfully the temperatures are climbing; it's in the 40s today and supposed to get near 60 the rest of the week. The poor birds were so happy to have me refill their feeder earlier; I imagine the snow makes it hard for them to find bugs and worms and whatever.

I was supposed to go to a friend's for movie and a pizza, but didn't wake up until 3 p.m. and felt like the room was tilted - this crazy weather has affected my sinuses, and the stress of yesterday's broken pipe didn't help. Well, now that Victor has capped off the pipe where it leads to under the porch, I won't have to worry about that happening again.

Twinny, I'm glad your mother doesn't drive herself anymore. I used to have a neighbor, Kathryn, who was in her 90s, and her BFF, Gertrude, - also in her 90s - lived across the street. Kathryn was telling me one day that until a year or two before Gertrude - who was nearly blind - insisted on driving, and counted on Kathryn to "navigate" and tell her went to stop, turn, etc. Kathryn admitted it was foolish of her to have gone along; thankfully no one ever got hurt.

I hate lines at the supermarket, but 22 open lanes is more than I've ever seen! Actually, the only time I don't mind a line is when one of the tabloids has a story I want to read (I wouldn't waste money on actually buying one of those rags), butt that seems to be when the line goes by quickly.

Well, I have a minor homework assignment to complete today, then I can finish the book I've started and am almost through with. It's an Amish series that I picked up from the discarded pile at the library, and is surprisingly good; I have the first three books (I'm on the third) and like it so much I ordered the remaining two from Amazon - fortunately they had each for only a penny. I have two major papers to work on this week, next week is two exams, then believe it or not, the semester is over. It seems like it just started!
