SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, NOV. 9)

Good morning, shopping friends. It is a sunny but cold day. Once it warms up some and I feel better I plan to tackle the garage.

I didn't go to sleep until  around 3am because of leg pain, one of the things I sometimes deal with in colder times. As a result, I overslept and missed most of AM Style. The only thing I remember being presented was the TSV. I am not an It Cosmetics fan so this is an easy pass. Right now, I'm watching Josie pitch her skin concentrate. If one brand doesn't work, then there will be another promising similar benefits.

I see that my Lock and Lock TSV has shipped, but when looking at the progress it has made, it has made it from one location in Virginia to another location in the same city all in one day. I also have the Berkshire faux fur throw coming my way once it ships. This is the Berkshire faux fur sold without the Giili tag for a TSV. I liked the regular Berkshire faux fur better as I didn't like most of the options in the Gili version. The regular Berkshire reversible faux fur was also less expensive.

I also received notice that my First Aid cream trio of products on auto delivery is about to ship. Those AD can really sneak up on you. I plan to use this one as a gift.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, NOV. 9)

Hi Everyone!

It's still cool here so the dogs and I are happy. I missed most of AM Style this morning because we were up super late last night. Our neighbors house caught on fire so we had fire trucks in our driveway part of the night. Our street is a cul de sac and it's narrow. Our dogs were barking between the trucks and the bright lights being shown on the home. Our neighbor said they got the fire out by the time the trucks arrived but the fire company did a thorough check of the entire area. There are woods surrounding most of the properties.  No one was hurt so that was the most important thing.

I'm not an IT girl so it was easy to pass on the TSV today. I really haven't seen too much in the way of gifts on air or on line. I need to find a few things for the mailman, UPS guy, etc. The regular ones on our route are so conciderate with the packages. I've had some that just toss them on the porch or put them in the stree next to the mailbox. I'm not kidding. I usually try to shop ahead of when I receive the "kids" (young adults) Christmas lists. Shipping is taking so long that I feel some pressure to get some items in the gift closet. I do most of my shopping on line with the exeption of a few stores.

Does anyone know when QVC is going back to normal programming in the late night? Strange with the number of hosts they have and the half day of broadcasting live. I imagine that it's even less viewed between the different time zones.

I'm trying to decided on the Thanksgiving meal. I always deep fry a turkey breast each year. The most work with that is cleaning the deep fryer after and trying to thaw the frozen turkey breast prior. i try to find a medium size which can be a little bit of a search. I checked them out this week at the market and the price was bit high. Not sure if I should just get it now or wait one more week.  I've been scaling back our holiday meals since the kids eat at the other house. They no longer do the double dinner between the two homes. I gave myself a break with trying to coordinate dinner times and our schedules. I can't tell you what a stress relief that is.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, NOV. 9)

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Jean.  Sorry you had leg pain which prevented sleep.

No TSV for me either.  I have never tried IT, and I have found these kits are usually not good for me since I don't want some of the items.  I saw a bit more of AM Style than I did when there was a three hour difference in Q and Arizona time zones (now it is down to two).  But, nothing jumped out for me, so no purchases.  I do like the free S&H days, so I guess I am more open than usual to a purchase.  But, the fact that I will be taking two trips in 2020 (God willing) makes me more frugal than usual.

Just one mention of an item I have found useful and comes with free S&H -- V35493 -- High Road Set of 4 Car Hook Seat Hangers.  They are great for keeping my purse available and stable.  I didn't need all four, so I gave some away to friends.  Not a fashion item, but.....

I am waiting for my Linea "Cathedral" top to ship -- it was supposed to arrive on November 7th, but went to backorder and then back to in process with a new date of November 19th.

Lunch with Jo Ann yesterday went great until she had an accident.  Fortunately, it was toward the end of the meal, and we quickly paid so she could get home and change.  I know she was terribly embarrassed, and she called me later to say she had taken care of things.  Of course, I worry about her a lot, but I think my best option is to be a comforting ear, etc.

I thought of Marijane since this was an Italian restaurant, and we both had one of the lunch specials -- chicken parmesan.  Absolutely delicious and quite a bargain.

Glad no one was hurt in the fire, Fressa, but that must have been quite a spectacle.  Sounds like you have a good handle on the holidays, including gifts.  I don't have "regular" UPS or Amazon drivers any more (different most times), plus the letter carrier I really liked has retired.  I will probably just give cash to the trash collectors and others who provide good service all year.

In contrast to many areas, we are having lovely warm weather (if you like warm weather that is).  It should make it up to 80 degrees today, and it wasn't cold on my walk this morning.  It is expected to be cooler next week, but still make it up to the 70's.  Good time of the year to be in Arizona.

Today is my late brother's birthday as well as my SIL's birthday.  My DD suggested some camera accessories for my SIL, and he was very happy to receive them.  They have plans to go to a hotel in the area tomorrow night -- nice get away for the two of them who raraly go anywhere without their children.

You made some nice purchases at KMart, Bernie.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hugs,

Linda

Fressa--How frightening to have a fiire that close to you! I am glad you are safe! I usually  don't watch the late hours programming but it was convenient when I was in Hawaii because of the 5 to 6 hour time difference depending upon when the mainland observed Daylight Savings. I used to see the TSV ;kick off at 6pm in Hawaii. I have my Christmas bought for the office staff and some close friends. I have no idea who my UPS or FedEx drivers are as I never see them. They drop the package and run.

Linda--I also rarely use all the items in those beauty kits. I would say some of the items are very overpriced at single sale price if a huge kit can be bought for the price of one. Thank you for mentioning the Car Seat Hangers. I will check them out. I am glad that you are there for your friend. Accidents do happen but I know she was embarrassed. Free shipping day is very enticing. I am somewhat irritated that the Berkshire reversible blankets (2) that I ordered are now on free shipping.

I had chili for lunch and the garage is calling me to do something. I need to get out there and do some rearranging and removal of some items. It is much more comfortable in the house as the garage is detached and not heated.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, NOV. 9)

Hi Jean @KonaKat   I'm sorry that leg pain ruined a good night's sleep for you.

@Fressa  that fire last night had to be terrifying.  I hope me and the neighbors on either side of me ever have a fire.  I'm glad that my next door neighbor has the fire hydrant in front of her house if it ever did happen.

Linda @LindaLatte  I don't know what the Q's problem is when it comes to managing the Linea inventory.  I'm sorry that JoAnn had an accident.  Live long enough and it happens to all of us eventually.  Bless her heart and yours for just being there for her.
