SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAY 9)

Greetings, shopping friends. It is a cold but sunny day. I didn't win the sleeping prize last night as I got 3 hours, finally going to sleep around 4am.  I did wake up in time to watch most of AM Style with Lean, a combo I really enjoy.

I did purchase the Stan Herman terry lounger that was special priced during AM Style only. I see it is $4 higher now. I have one of his similar to that in a different fabric and like it very much.

If any of you need those disposable face masks, Snow Joe has them. in a box of 50 for $29.99 and free shipping. These run around $50 for a box of 50 in most places, including QVC.

I was doing so well yesterday, including finishing a book on my Kindle, when I got an alert I had a message from the orthopaedic practiceI thought perhaps they had changed my appointment for the coming week to see the orthopaedic surgeon. Wrong! It was a message informing me that a post surgery appointment had been scheduled for me. Keep in mind that I have yet to see the specialist as I've been dealing with this since I was referred in early March but nothing could be done as elective procedures were cancelled.

I did have the MRI done the last of March but that was done reluctantly by the MRI people. They expressed their feelings but left it up to me.  I do have a problem and I was hoping that other things might be tried before surgery as it has been six weeks since the MRI was done, and they are playing "catch up."

Right now, the proposed surgery is for the last Friday in May but at the same time, the pain is much less and I an do many things with that shoulder and arm that I couldn't do. I just am not looking forward to the limitations imposed for several weeks after surgery depending upon level of repair.

Time will tell, but it is a challenge when you live alone to find someone outside the home that are willing to take me to the surgery. People here are taking this crisis and restrictions seriously. We have yet to get a case attributed to a resident. We are still in a situation where people outside of a home are not encouraged to mix with others unless it is for their essential business.

Oh well!  I've stayed put since March 13 except for essential trips for food. I guess I can stay put up to six weeks after surgery except for medical appointments, and finding someone to take me until my driving restsrictions are lifted.

Obviously, I hope the surgeon decides surgery isn't necessary until other things are tried and that these other appointments were scheduled just in case it was needed since everyone is playing "catch up" as a result of the restrictions.

Have a good day. If you shop, shop wisely...and be safe!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAY 9)

Hello Ladies, I do hope you will not need the surgery Jean.....as you said you have been doing more with your arm and it hasn't been causing you too much of a problem.  I know it is a long recovery time from surgery....one of my sisters had it done years ago...she is a nurse and had slipped on a wet floor going into a patient's room....there was no sign alerting her to a wet floor.

It was a cold morning here 28 degrees but nice and sunny and bright.  one of my sons in Maine and daughter in Vt had snow.

My pool guys were here to open the pool.....yikes!  I usually have them come week before Memorial Day to open it so don't know why they came today.....I told them I didn't want it open this early......maybe they thought I wanted to ice skate!

Not much else going on...have a nice day everyone......Marijane

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAY 9)

Hi Everyone!

KomKat--- Sorry you lost so much sleep. That can make for such a difficult morning. Good find on the Stan Herman. I really like his p.j.'s and have learned to buy 2 when he has something new. Two weeks ago there was a new set featured but I purchased just 1. I know I'll probably kick myself but it's always a back & forth with my budget and is it really a need.  I will have my fingers crossed that luck will be with you for some alternatives before surgery is required.

I woke up this morning with laryngitis. My voice usually is raspy from all the allergies, etc.but I don't know what pushed it over the edge....this time. I don't feel any worse than usual so that's good.

We had some snow flurries overnight. The temps are cold so we did have a frost. I didn't bother to bring any of the windchimes in so I'm just hoping they survive. The flurries are melting as they hit the ground so that's good.

I finished with scrubbing all the baseboards and louvered doors in the lower level yesterday. YIPPEE!!! Of course, as I'm sitting on the floor scrubbing I noticed the splash marks from the dogs shaking off water/mud on the sheers. One project always leads to another. That will be last on my list. I really would like to complete all the other projects by the time we are in the "green". One day at a time and at some point it will all be done.

I have prescriptions to pick up that I hope to do tomorrow. I could pick up a few groceries and do some banking but it will depend on my voice. I may just be cautious and do the prescription run and make a second trip later in the week.

I did catch part of AM Sttyle this morning. I liked the sleevless D&C tank top but the reviews were mixed. I decided to wait.

Stay safe & comfy. Have a good afternoon & evening.

[ Edited ]

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Jean.  Hope you like your new Stan Herman lounger.  I am using a similar one as a robe these days.  My winter robes are also from Stan.  He is such a nice man, and I think his robes/loungers are great.

Sorry about your lack of sleep.  Hope you don't need surgery after all, but it goes okay if you need it.

Hi Marijane.  I can't believe they opened your pool this early, especially when it is so cold there.  Perhaps they were desperate for work.  Do hope it warms up soon, and you can enjoy the pool later this month or next month.  Our pools and gyms are still closed, but the recreation department sent out a notice that two of the pools (out of 13) may be open for limited hours starting May 22nd if the governor lifts restrictions.  I am not holding my breath since I imagine the two pools will be mobbed if they open.  Definitely swimming weather here.  It is a bit cooler today, but the high is expected to be 92.

I took a longer than usual walk this morning, and it was nice.  Some of the townhomes that I walk by on my long walks are really beautifully decorated.

Another groundhog day for me -- laundry and weekly financial review as well as some cleaning and cooking.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day and stays safe.

Hugs,

Linda

ETA -- Hi Fressa.  Sorry you have laryngitis.  Good work in the house, and I hope your voice is better soon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAY 9)

Jean, I am hoping that you don't have to have surgery.  Especially since its not been hurting you as much.  I saw a little bit of ams this morning and saw the Stan Herman duster that you ordered. It looks nice and comfy.

Marijane, I used to love to ice skate & roller skate.  My parents had a cabin 20 miles away and the pond in front of it was perfect.  We also had an ice skating rink across the street from our house which was where we went to grade school.

It was down to 30° this morning, so it's a good thing that I had my DH cover up the rhubarb which I just picked for the first time since it was transplanted 2 years ago.

I was going to go for my walk, but after steam mopping the floors, the radio is my best friend.

Last night, we had a drive thru  🐟🐟🐟fry at Culver's and it was very good.  Tomorrow for lunch  it's going to be a drive thru restaurant which is to be decided on tomorrow.

No big plans today except the hot tub after lunch.  It's supposed to rain tomorrow.  Not my bf for sure.  Then several 🌞🌞🌞 days in a row.

Hugs to all of you.

Sorry, I misunderstood, Marijane.  Glad you sent them away.  Plenty of time before you will want to go swimming.

Fressa, we had a freeze last night, but no snow, which I would rather have than rain.  I have never liked rain, but I have always been a snow person.  It's looks like you are making head way with your cleaning job. We did our spring cleaning job one area at a time & it worked out good for us. Sorry that you have laryngitis, but still feel ok.  Good luck with getting your rx's.  Hope it's not too busy there.

Linda L, your walk sounds like fun.  I enjoy walking in our downtown area since there's always something nice to see & window shopping is cheap.

The hot tub was so nice.  Now I am going to have a lazy afternoon.  It's a nice sunny cooler day, so I am ☺☺☺.

LINDA you are probably right that when few of the

pools open  first in your area  they will be mobbed at first especially with the hot weather you are having. Do any stay open during the winter?

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAY 9)

Yes, all but one are outdoors, but they are heated.  I don't swim when it is cool/cold outside since the water is warm, but the air cold.  This time of the year, swimming would be great.
