SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAR 16)

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Hope we hear some good news from twinny soon.  I know that she was hoping her DH would be able to go home today, and I pray that he will be okay.

I made it through my very rough day yesterday, and I'm better today.  Not yet my usual happy self, but I'm getting there (I hope).  Thanks for all your good thoughts.  One thing everyone has told me is that you never know when overwhelming grief and sadness will hit you, and that was certainly the case yesterday.

Fortunately, our weather is nice today -- already 50 degrees when I got up and headed to the 70's.  I don't think it made it to the 70's yesterday, but it did come close.  They are predicting windy weather today with a very slight chance of rain.  Hopefully, this is our return to more normal weather for this time of the year.  I am so sorry to hear about very rough weather in other areas of the country.  Hope all of you are okay.

Now that we are three hours behind "Q" time, I don't have much opportunity to watch AM Style, but I did see part of the show.  Leah certainly looked great.

Today I have my usual laundry and weekly financial review.  And, I'll be visiting "my" hospice patient this afternoon.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day and please post if you have time.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAR 16)

Good morning everyone, Linda - thanks for getting us started today.  I'm sorry that you were missing your DH so much yesterday, on his birthday.  Big (((hugs))).  Hope that the visit with your hospice patient goes well today.  twinny - so sorry to hear about your DH's health scare on your anniversary!  I am praying for him to recover fully, and that the doctor's might be helpful in determining what caused it.

The weather here is beautiful.  It's moderately cool, and sunny.  Everything is green.  I need to get some outside work done today.  Don't know if I'll do more pruning, or if I'll assist my DD clean out goat pens (if I can pry her away from her computer).  She had a rough work week, I think some exercise and fresh air would do her some good.

Hi Linda @LindaLatte   I'm glad you are feeling just a bit better today.  Grief has a way of laying dormant for awhile and then sneaking up on you when you least expect it.  I hope your visit with your patient goes well today.

Charlene @cerb   Does your daughter like being a veterinarian now that she's been at it awhile?  I can only imagine how hard of a job that can be.  How's the pregnant goat doing?

Something was sprouting up in the front bed near the leafy shrub.  Tulips probably.  Considering I woke up to snow covered grass, I hope whatever was blooming doesn't die from the cold.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAR 16)

Linda L, I am sending hugs your way too.

Bird Mama, we have no snow except at the end of the driveway.  We have tulips trying to pop up.

CERB. we were both disappointed that he didn't get to come home yesterday.  Last night I caught myself starting to talk to him and then I remembered that he wasn't here.

We got home a little while ago.  Then one of my DH's brothers stopped in because he had been to his dd's's (our niece).  He is our eye Dr. until he retires next January.  He wanted to know all that went on because he will tell their mom.  She is very hard to talk to on the phone & this brother and my DH's mom live in the same town.

The carotid artery test results are normal.  The only thing that showed up was that he was dehydrated.  That is weird because we eat our meals at the same time every day and he had a big breakfast that day.

The Dr. wants my DH to wear a heart monitor vest for a day or so. Then she wants him to have a stress test, see his General Practitioner for a follow-up & see the cardiologist.   I think that we have all of these Dr.'s at our local Clinic.

Then she wants him to see a neurosurgeon just to cover all bases.

It's weird that he got so sick so quickly and snapped out of it just as quickly.

Hugs to all of you.

@twinny70    Because your beloved is a newly diagnosed diabetic, I don't know if the doctors made you aware that diabetics are at risk of dehydrating more easily than non diabetics.  Dehydration can make you dizzy and feel 'spaced out'.  It's good they are monitoring his heart and doing their due diligence to be on the safe side.

I'm glad he's home.  He needs to rest....and hydrate.

Twinny I am so happy to hear this good news.....yes dehydration can come on quick...that's whst happened to my DH when we were st hospital with DS  when he was so sick a few months ago...DH wound  up down in ER overnight..everything checked out ok..except he was dehydrated all tests were ok.....first questions asked was he a diabetic....he's not.  Anyway they gave him two  IV bags of fluid and he came around.

I hope both both of you get a good night's sleep.......Marijane

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAR 16)

@Bird mama  - For the most part, my DD is very happy with her choice of career and with her co-workers.  The downsides for her, are when people never seem to have money (even when driving expensive cars, they can't come up with $300), and days when she euthanizes pet after pet after pet (It can be a little depressing).  Last night a dog she had done a 3 hour surgery on, passed away, and she felt bummed out about that.  She was the only vet at the clinic for half of the week and did several surgeries, leaving her back physically sore.  Just a tough week, but overall she likes it.

Our pregnant goat is named American Cleopatra, because she was born about 2 hours after American Pharoah won the Triple Crown.  We call her "Cleo" for short.  My DD brought home the clinic's portable ultrasound machine, and so far, everything looks good.  Probably only carrying one kid.

Thanks for asking!

@twinny70  - I bet you missed your DH very much when he had to spend the night at the hospital.  It'll be interesting to see if wearing the heart monitor vest will show anything.  When my mother was in the hospital a year ago, one of the doctors told her that as we age our bodies don't do as good a job at regulating our blood sugar - and that was part of her issue.  Nothing they can really do about it.  Sigh.  Growing older isn't for sissies, that's for sure.   (((hugs))) to you and yours!  ~ Charlene

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, MAR 16)

Bird Mama, my DH has been a diabetic for about 10 years, but he just started to use the insulin pen at night since December.  Our ds just called us and asked if dad drank water or milk other than at meal times.  No!  He said "everybody carries a water bottle.". We don't, but we will be more vigilant about keeping our bodies hydrated.

Marijane. I didn't know that your dh was in the hospital when your ds was so sick. I got an email from my niece and she said Dehydration is a Beast.  Their dd was passing out a lot and it was from dehydration.  I never knew why she was passing out but she saw many different  Dr's & specialists.

Cerb, yes, I did miss having my DH home especially at night time.  At least 3 times I started to talk to him when I was watching t.v. & then I remembered that he wasn't here.  He has been retired for almost 16 years, so we are together a lot of the time.  Sounds crazy I know.  I

I hope that our lives get back to normal real soon.  We want to start traveling again in April or May.
