Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, MARCH 4th)

LindaLatte- What a scare that must have been with the couple who fell. Good to hear that those students were there to offer help and that the couple were okay.

Hopefully, your hospice work will not consume your entire afternoon.[

It sounds like you have our rainy weather from last week. Tody we have wind gusts and partly cloudy. I feat that it is Spring. More greenery is blooming and allergies for the dogs and myself are blooming. UGH!!  On the upside, I see one plant is sturning green in one of the porch planters and one planter is empty. I never know what is going to return with my "camo" thumb so it's always a surprise.

We're seeing more and more wildlife thses last two weeks. The township newsletter posted about a mama black bear and 3 cubs attacted a women and her dog. It seems both were too close to the woods  There's more  construction than usual this season so it's a mess.

I have my fingers crossed for grocery shopping today. I did manage the banking yesterday. I started my mini project of reorganizing and decluttering some of the files. This year with the taxes it just seemed like I had too many files.

I did watch quite a few of the garden shows. I need to downsize the front corner gardens this year because it's just too difficult to weed them. I bought two PW whiskey barrel planters (which I had before and liked) and then ordered a rose bush and and crepe mrytle. Hopefully, they will be the focal point and I can fill in from there. Fingers crossed that they grow.

What's everyone doing today?

Have a good afternoon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, MARCH 4th)

Hi Everyone!

It's raining and cold. It was light hail around midnight last night but at least it turned to rain. Forecasted for the next 24 hours. The gardens and grass will like it.

I finally got to the grocery store yesterday. Prices were crazy on produce. (stem tomatoes $3.49/lb) lettuce $2.69 (down from $3.59) apples $2.59 each, naval oarnes $1 each, green grapes $2.99 (sale) green peppers $3.49 ea, eggs 18 small $4.89, crackers $4-$7 per box depending on brand and size. There was a sale on cotton balls and q tips which was the second sale so far this yeard.

I didn't buy any meat, paper products, cleaning products this trip. I just needed the basic dairy, produce and a few pantry items.

My total was high (like everyone's) but not as bad as the two weeks prior. I ws craving my fruits and salads. Ice cream bars were on sale so I did treat us to 2 boxes. YUM!!!

Our sewage bill incread by $18 this month. They posted a notice that it would be a total of $45. No specifics of how that was being billed. I hope these utilities slow it down a bit with these increases.

Our dogs are 10 years old today. Hard to believe. I remember trying to potty train 2 at once (new to me) and then getting them on the same schedule. Not sure I have enough air in my lungs or energy to do that now. LOL

Have a good afternoon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, MARCH 4th)

Good Afternoon!  Happy Birthday to your dogs, Fressa.  I sure would not want to try to potty train two dogs at once.  I feel for the twins Mom when that time comes.  Glad you got the grocery items you needed and even some fun ones.  Quite a jump in your sewer bill.  Seems every time I turn around another bill is going up.

My "caregivers" group got together for lunch today, and it was nice to see them.  Unfortunately, Bev is still suffering quite a bit with her sciatica.  She has started PT, but only the first visit.

Apparently, one of the regulars (who was not there today) is having some hallucinations or similar issues.  Since most of us have had spouses/relatives with dementia we are particularly sensitive.  Hopefully, things will improve or at least she will get some help.

It is sunny and warmer here today -- should make it into the upper 60's and they are predicting temperatures in the 70's tomorrow.

My laundry is almost finished, and I plan to take a walk when I finish posting.  Plenty of chores to do, but exercise will come first.

Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Glenda, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, MARCH 4th)

Good Afternoon!  It is warm and sunny here, but pretty chilly in the house since I have my thermostat set at 66 degrees.   I figure I can just add a sweatshirt.  The "Arizona room" is considerably warmer.

Most of Arizona does not observe Daylight Savings time which means that we are now three hours behind "Q" time.  Sometimes that is a good thing, but not always.  Hope all of you who lost an hour of sleep are doing okay.

After lunch, I plan to go to the gym and maybe take a walk later.  (It was only in the 30's this morning, so I just did a Leslie Sansone workout rather than taking a walk in the neighborhood.)

There was an article in the extremely local paper that reported the owner of the proposed assisted living home in the neighborhood is going ahead with his plans. He is re-submitting his permit applications, etc.  I know that most of the neighbors will not be happy, but the Fair Housing Laws override many of the objections.

Not sure if I mentioned it, but my DD and SIL are traveling to meet the twins early next week.  They are very excited.

Waves to Fressa, Glenda, Bernie, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, MARCH 4th)

It looks like all of you are staying plenty busy.

Linda L  sorry about your hospice patient sleeping while you were trying to visit with her on her birthday.  My Mom said it wasn't bad training both of us at the same time,  but your great grands are a boy and a girl.   I had the same thoughts about Emily getting a motorcycle.  Her Dad said unless she is very serious about it she should get a bicycle, moped or an electric bike.

Speak of the Devil.  We got our yearly moped insurance last week and it's still $147.00  for both of us for one year.   We pay our homeowners insurance once a year and it went up from $770- 892.  Our car insurance we pay twice a year and it went up $150.. This could have been a lot worse.

Bird Mama,  we had weather like you did.  It was spring like & then we got a cold wet rain last Friday.   Nice that you could celebrate your great niece's birthday.

Fressa, training two dogs at the same time would be a nightmare.  Good luck with your next home improvement projects.

My dh had another spot removed on Tuesday by his dermatologist and the labs came back negative.

The had my first PT session on Wednesday morning and it went well.  I have my next 6 PT appts. set up.

On Friday, I saw my GI Dr. for my yearly checkup.  I have had non alcoholic fatty liver for at least 15 years and he said everything is going so well that I don't have to see him again unless my labs go down hill.

Yippee, I no longer have to see my rheumatologist or my GI Dr.🤗🤗🤗.

It's a nice sunny 50's day.  Ee are going to be in the upper 60's tomorrow and Tuesday.

Hugs to all of you.

Glenda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, MARCH 4th)

Michigan rejected daylight savings time when it was first enacted in the late 60's and then voters decided they wanted it about 6 or 7 years later.  I was 10 when the state decided to go with DST.  I mention my age because I can remember before and after DST.

Manipulating time has always seemed crazy to me.  Because so much of life is appointment driven, I go along because I nned to be on the same clock that everyone else is when I make an appointment.  The rest of it is malarkey.  Woman Very Happy

The temps dropped over the weekend and we had a touch of snow on the house roofs yesterday morning.  It's supposed to warm up this week.  Spring is a rollercoaster ride here in Michigan.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, MARCH 4th)

Hi Everyon!

It's partlu sunny with cold temps. We had icy snow flurries during the night but it onlystuck to the grass by morning. High wind gusts are to arrive this afternoon thru the evening with possible snow. I can do with the wind gusts but I like the cool temps. Hopefully, the Spring plants will survive.

We observe DST here but I keep hoping they give it up. The kids are always in the dark at the bus stops either way they go with this.

LindaLatte---That's a shame about the housing plan but hopefully they will be mindful of the community. We have one located midway on the roadway at the back yard and it is secluded and quiet. Crossing my fingers for your community.

How exciting for your DD &SIL to visit the twins.

twinny70--Insurance rates seem to be increasing in multiples. I hope they stop very soon.

So happy to hear that you are avle to eliminate two of your doctor appointments and your DH's appointment went well. Good news.

Birdmama--They try to pass a law here about DST but it failed. UGH!! We're stuck until the next election period. (I guess) the hubby is on a mix of mountain time and east coast time so he's up between 330-4A each day regardles, I'm on the dog schedule---up at 7 although My eyes don't focus until afternoon. LOL

I do like the cool temps and if the sun is out it's a bonus. This back and forth with the weather has my knee going crazy.

Have a good afternoon.
