SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JUNE 15th)

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Another dry and hot day here with a high of 100 degrees predicted.  It was already pretty hot when I took my walk early this morning, so I am glad no other outings are planned for the day.  I had to smile when Glenda talked about looking for shade -- me as well, but there isn't a great deal of shade in my area.

Glad your DH found a way to make the attic fan work, Fressa, and I hope it isn't too hot there today.

I made arrangement to have my AC checked (I have a contract with a heating and air conditioning company) on July 1st.

My excessive walking is starting to cause feet problems, so I have decided to cut back starting today -- wish me luck.

The fires north of here have moved away from many of the homes, which is good news.  But, the virus is spreading pretty rapidly in Arizona.  After hearing reports of possible problems with gyms, I think that it may be quite a while before I return to the gym, even when "mine" is reopened.  No word on when it will reopen at this point.

No TSV for me -- not a fan of jumpsuits at all.  Hope that any of you who order enjoy it very much.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Have a nice day, and please post if you have a chance.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JUNE 15th)

Linda--Thank you for starting the thread. I know how much you enjoy walking, so hopefully                you will be able to do it effectively if you do need to cut back. Is it the length of time, intensity or shoe that is contributing to the problem. I have read of the problems in Arizona, and I would be reluctant to return to the gym also.

It is a beautiful sunny but cool day here with temps in the upper 70s. In fact, I thought it was chilly when I awakened at 5am. Since there is not much I can do with the day at this point, I would prefer to sleep later but my internal alarm clock doesn't agree. My biceps are giving me some pain in the arm of the surgery, so hopefully that will resolve itself. I have PT tomorrow and Thursday.

I saw the TSV and thought it looked acceptable on Lean but it is not something I would wear. Not to be too graphic, but when I get an urge to go to the bathroom, the less I have to deal with the better off I am.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JUNE 15th)

Hi Everyone!

It's in the 70's today and cloudy so that's good. It will get very hot this week and that's bad. The dogs and I are just appreciating the cool breeze.

We need some type of adhesive for the shingle repair job which will happen later this week. Our list for the hardware store takes an entire page. My husband picked up the most important items yesterday. I'll probably venture over there for the led light bulbs, etc. one day soon.

Today is laundry day and paying bills. I decided to finally put the summer quilt on the bed. I kept the microfibiber comforter on the bed longer than usual this season. Our femal GSD has a "boo-boo" on her paw so it's just a breeze to spot clean if she pulls that bandage off in the middleof the night. I also found out that one of the DB faux furs bedspreads has the same plus. Between the extra bedding and the basket of "yard" clothes there's enough laundry for two days.

I have a prescription to pick up. (again) The pharmacy has the incorrect price on this one. (again). I'll have to check the weather and the grocery list to decide on what day I'm going to accomplish that task.

I did find a pair of suede tennis shoes on the product recap this morning. They are Earth so I'm hoping they are as nice once received as they looked on AMStyle. The price was budget friendly so that's why I decided to give them a try. Fingers crossed.

Stay safe & comfy.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JUNE 15th)

It is really just the amount of walking I have been doing, Jean -- averaging 30,000 plus steps per day for at least the last 2 1/2 months.  My problem is that I nod off pretty quickly if I sit down to watch TV  or even read a book, so I walk in place a lot while I watch TV or listen to the radio.  I am also pretty self-competitive, and keep trying to walk a lot.  I don't think it is my shoes or the intensity of my walking, but I am trying different shoes as well as trying to walk less just in case.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JUNE 15th)

Linda L, it sounds like you are having another hot day.  Maybe your feet are sore from the extremely hot pavement.  I have a lot of shady spots to walk as we have a square.  It's probably a good thing to get the A/C checked.  I don't know when our gym will reopen, but we will be very cautious about going back too.

Jean, right now it's a beautiful sunny 74° day,  but we will soon be in the mid-upper 80's by tomorrow.  No relief before Sunday,  so the A/C will be getting a very workout.

Good luck with your PT tomorrow. Yes, Leah looked great in the jumpsuit.  I made one many years ago and really like it.  I was more agile back then too.

Fressa, I am glad that you are getting some cooler weather.  I am loving the cool temps too.  Too bad that it won't last after today.  It sounds like you have a busy day with paying bills and a trip to the pharmacy.  I hope that your shoe is comfy.

It's a day where I wish that I would have stayed in bed.

This morning, I called and tried to activate my new Trac Phone.  After speaking to 4 different Reps and not being able to understand any of them. I got cut off.  I will try again tomorrow.

Then I called my gp's nurse to make sure that I am stopping the Xarelto correctly when I am having my dental procedures done. Usually it's 4 days for cleaning and a week for extractions, but I don't know about root canals. Since my consultation isn't until next Monday, she is going to call me back.

Then my DH was putting a long sleeved t-shirt into his dresser and knocked off the beautiful rose colored glass jewelry container that was my Mom's.  It smashed into a million pieces.

I know that these are minor problems, but it's been a rough day for me.

Hugs to all of you.

[ Edited ]

Fressa--I also have 3 DB Faux fur spreads, one of which is in the car should it be needed in the Winter, etc. It was the first one I bought and is smaller than the other 2 which I use on the beds. Today was another finance day for me also. I have a master calendar on which all my obligations are listed and they are checked off as they are paid. Enjoy the tennis shoes, especially when they were priced well.

Linda--That is a lot of steps. The most I ever did was 20,000 and after doing that I decided it would not be done again unless necessary. My knees and ankles did not take well to it.

Glenda--Sorry you are having problems activating your Trac Fone. I have had one for several years until a couple of years ago when I decided to switch to Consumer Cellular after buying an unlocked cell phone.  I had good service with Trac Fone; I just felt like making a change.

I'm watching Rescue-Special Operations, an Australian TV series and enjoying the scenery I'm unable to see this year. It is interesting to note that Australia had fewer deaths from Covid-19 than our state due to their strict quarantine and stay at home orders. They will be opening their borders in the future based upon rate of infection, etc. in the various countries. Right now, itis doubtful that they will open before December with the US being way down the list to be admitted.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JUNE 15th)

Hello all, after two days of needing the furnace (especially at night) it was beautiful outside and I was able to open windows today.

I'm pretty sure I've talked about the set of 2 Home Reflections wood storage boxes that I bought here from the Q.  Well, I've had them open and airing out since the end of March and if I close the lids on either box now for even a few hours, the smell just about knocks me out when I reopen either box.

Live and learn.  I don't know what kind of wood was used or more importantly what was sprayed on the wood for the trip overseas to get here.  It's not working for me.

Are they the storage boxes you painted, Bernie?  I have had that happen with some clothing -- I remember at least one pair of pants from D&Co., and a Martha Stewart jean jacket.  I washed them over and over, put them outside, sprayed them, etc., etc., just couldn't get the order out, and ended up donating them.  Still worried that someone else would have a similar reaction to the smell.

@LindaLatte  Yep, I guess since I had them airing out in the garage I didn't smell the, I don't know what to call it, preservative? I smelled something off and thought maybe it was the paint.  It was not the paint, lol.
