SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JULY 13)

Greetings, shopping friends. Today will be another cooler day, one to enjoy before the heat returns. I tolerate heat better than cold, so it is my time of the year.

I have been paying bills online, and I just remembered I need to make an estimated payment to the IRS. The money comes in and it goes o.ut. This is a month I will be paying several co-pays for visits to specialists as well as my primary. At least, I am fortunate to have insurance to pick up the remaining a big charges.

I have physical therapy this morning, and I will be seeing the orthopedic surgeon for a follow up appointment tomorrow. I didn't sleep well last night as the shoulder and arm were paining at times. That motivated me to do some internet research, and discovered it was quite common for pain to come and go for 8 months after surgery. Hopefully, I didn't  do anything to aggravate it  by doing things too soon..

I would like to shop but the reality is that I don't need any new clothes while not working. I have plenty of clothes on hand to come to my wearing rescue. I placed a food order with WalMart for curbside pickup on Saturday when I get my hair cut. I have discontinued coloring my hair. I can tolerate it and it doesn't look that bad without being colored, not to mention the savings over a year.

I've replaced QVC in the morning with the Today show. I just saw the greatest reunion. The mother was an essential worker exposed to the virus, so her asmathic son had to stay with his grandparents for the past several months. The virus has resulted in many of us making changes.

I hope to be able to take some donations with me when I go to the city tomorrow for the orthopedic surgeon follow-up appointment. That means when not in physical therapy today, I'll be alternating decluttering with a hour of relaxation. I also have trimmings from one section of shrubbery.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely. If you go out, do so safely. Please consider taking a couple of minutes  to share with us. Stay safe!!!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JULY 13)

Good Morning Jean @KonaKat  Today will probably be the last nice one around here for another week.  I was watching the sparrows eat on the patio and I had to laugh. There was a male sparrow singing his heart out and doing a mating dance for a female that was trying to get some breakfast.

She gave him a look and he backed off until she resumed eating.  He was so obnoxious that she couldn't take it anymore so she ran at him and was beating him up.  I tapped on the window because I didn't want him to lose an eye.Woman Very Happy

As soon as I finish this cup of coffee, I'm going to fire up the lawn mower and get the yard work going.

There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise

Bernie--Love your morning patio entertainment Don't mess with the female of any species. Getting the lawn done while it is cool is a good idea, especially if there is any rain in the forecast

I am dressed for the PT appointment. I need to finish my cup of coffee before I navigate my way there for whatever awaits me.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JULY 13)

Hi Everyone!

Today is cloudy and warm. The rain has stopped so I'll have driveway drains to clear. We have screens, etc. over them but those pine needles just collect in mass and make a "mini dam".

I'm doing some laundry today and paying bills. I want to spend some time on budgeting for the next few months as taxes are due and we have annual vet checkups for both dogs. I have some online ordering for their supplies that is on my list for today or tomorrow. I prefer to get all that stuff out of the way early in the week so the other days are clear for projects, groceries, prescriptions, etc.

I just made a quick start on the one closet for the moving of my husband's "office" into the spare room. I found our grandson's box of sidewalk chalk and crayons in a box. I thought I had given all that stuff away since he's grown. It brought back some nice thoughts of when I watched him those years.

I've been on this cooking "kick" of making all these comfort dishes for dinner. It's been great because I've been dragging with my energy level. I think my body is playing catch-up to everything.

I actually didn't see too much CIJ this past weekend. I watched a re-run of David's show while I fed the dogs and started the laundry. That system seems to be working best for my budget. LOL  I did like that fairy tree but I don't need another tree.

I haven't found anything to tempt me for clothing on clearance day. I don't need a thing but I do like to shop ahead for my dil gifts. I usually buy some of her clothes.

Stay safe & comfy.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, JULY 13)

Good Morning/Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Jean.  Sorry you didn't sleep well and had some shoulder and arm pain.  Hope PT isn't too difficult today and your appointment goes well tomorrow.

Thank goodness insurance covers many of the big charges.  I have decided not to pay estimated taxes this year.  Since I got a refund last year, I hope that I am having enough taken out of my pension.

Hope you will be happy with your decision not to color your hair.  I do think it looks nice, and certainly saves quite a bit of money, but it can be a very difficult decision.  After more than 10 years of not coloring my hair, I decided to have "foil" highlights done twice a year.  It is pricey, but I figured every six months won't be too bad.  Also, it is very subtle so if I decide that I don't want to continue, I don't think anyone but me will be the wiser.

That is some story about the sparrows.  Glad your weather is nice and good luck with your yard work, Bernie.

Hi Fressa.  I managed to avoid ordering any CIJ items, but I had a difficult time avoiding the purchase Valerie's TSV yesterday.  So, I just avoided watching the programs.  Good luck with your budgeting and cooking.

We got a tiny bit of rain yesterday afternoon, and that took the temperature down from 108 to 102.  Today is the last in a string of "excessive heat warning" days.  They are predicting lower temperatures tomorrow, but still hot with a high of 104 degrees predicted for Tuesday.

It wasn't nice on my walk this morning -- very hot, but there was a partial rainbow when I started -- that made me smile.  For some unknown reason, I started to obsess about my refrigerator yesterday.  It is running fine, but I just don't trust it.  Anyway, I redid my monthly budget yesterday.  After doing some more research on the expected life of refrigerators, I decided that it would be wiser to save for a general category of "appliance replacement" rather than a specific appliance.  You can't imagine how much thought that went into that simple change.  LOL

Since I made some progress with clearing out my excess clothing, I decided to look at my shoe collection again.  Already, one pair that was never worn is on the donation pile, and another is headed tor the trash.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda
