SNICK's,  it will be nice when the workers are done & don't come back.  I did lots of laundry after our company so don't need to wash this week.  Hoiw nice that you were lucky at the casino.

DH, & I had a great NYE.  Dinner out with friends, board games & ended up in the hot tub with a wine cooler.  Slept good that night too.

I had a rough time yesterday with mom's rants.  It just makes me sad when she gets like that.  I am going to see her soon.  Hospice has been wonderful.  All mom talks about now is me to rent her house out as it is empty.  

Dinner is meatloaf, mashed potatoes & veggies.

Charlene, do goats have a long life span?  I know that your DD gave her an injection and respect that your DD is going to school to become a vet, but she went back to school.  Is there a local vet that can check Rosie out in DD's absence?

Thanks for the well-wishes for Rosie.  The life span for goats is 15-18 years, though it varies of course.  If we bred our dairy goats every year, they would have shorter lifespans, or if they had illnesses, or lived in the wild they would live shorter lives.  One advantage to our dry climate is fewer parasites and that's helpful.  Unfortunately no, there is no local veterinarian who takes care of goats.  The closest is about a one hour drive away.  The small animal vets that my DD works for have given us a hand here and there, but they aren't specialists in ruminates.  Depending on what needs to be done, surgery is sometimes not a viable option for livestock.  It would be very expensive and the animals often don't recover well. It's possible that Rosie might be in need of a hysterectomy, but it's not a realistic option for an 11 year old goat.  She's eating well and she's active which is good, but goats are stoic animals and it's hard to tell if she's in discomfort.  Hoping the hormone-type injection helps.

Snicks - just the mention of "sewer backing up" is enough to make anybody cringe.  Hope all of that gets straightened out soon.  Jean - congrats on the great FICO score!  At this stage of life, the only way DH and I  could get a higher score is if we took on more debt.  Paying our normal bills on time, and paying off our one credit card in full each month just isn't impressive enough for them.  Weird system!

I can appreciate the situation Charlene as my birds are not readily accepted by avian vets around here.  Frankly, some wildlife rehabbers feel they are a dime a dozen and invasive species as they are sparrows and a pigeon.

Marijane, our tree came down last Friday & the other Christmas stuff.  How nice that your tree lasted so long.  It is a nice sunny winter day here too.  Beautiful white snow that just glistens.

Just got back from seeing mom & she was a lot better until her mail came  & she had to sign a small interest check so that I can cash it tomorrow. I am her POA but she still

enjoys signing  them.  Although her memory is awful, she still worries about her home & financial things.  She still tells me that I don't do anything.  It is very hurtful even though I know she has lost most of her mental ability.  DH & I are bending over backwards to make some tough decisions with very little help.

It is so nice to get an extra minute or so of daylight.  I know that I am nuts right now. lol.

Just a quick update, they found the problem with the sewer line, YAY!!!! The water lines are laid on top of the sewer line, so when they replaced the water line back OVER the sewer line, then covered it with gravel, they didn't block it and so the sewer line got a bit crushed. All the lines in my yard had to be dug back up before they found where the problem was, but they say they have it fixed now, and will be back tomorrow to finish up at my house, with the exception of adding soil, re-seeding and strawing the lawn, which will be done in a couple months, after it all has time to settle. They are also sending the plumber back to re-auger out our sewer in case any mud got back in while they were fixing the problem. I am very tired of this whole process, but am grateful they accepted responsibility and are correcting it all without an argument about it. I do appreciate that. They had 5 guys and 3 large pieces of equipment here all day today...glad I don't have to pay the bill for that, lol. Have a great evening, everyone.

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Thanks for getting us started Jean, and glad you are getting a higher FICO score.  Also good that you looked into possible discounts if you do purchase a new car.  My insurance company gave me a discount for taking an on-line defensive driving course.  And, the discount will last for three years.  Not nearly 40 percent, but....  Glad you are working today sleeping so well.  Wish I could say the same about sleeping.

I do appreciate everyone's good wishes and prayers.  It is definitely one day at a time here.  DH did it again today (this time on a doom chair and the floor), while I was at strong bones.  I talked to his DD briefly (she is on vacation in Germany with her family), and I'm starting to think that I'll need to hire someone to stay with him even for relatively short periods of time.  A home caregiver is coming later this afternoon, and I understand she charges less than other places.  Fingers crossed that is true, and we like her.  

DH went to the endodontist today, and he will have a root canal on one tooth in a couple of weeks.  There is a different "problem" tooth that has been worked on several times, but we will be wait and watch.  He is not in pain from that one, and he may just have it extracted if it starts hurting.

Hi snicks -- glad they figured out what was wrong with your sewer line, and they are taking responsibility.  But, I'm sure it is quite a mess.

I do hope your goat will recover, Charlene. That is a shame about not having any local vets, etc.  Way to go with your steps.  It hasn't been a good day for me so far (no walk in the rain), but I'm pretty good about getting in my 10,000 steps a day or more.  

I'm sure you will get through the five days straight of work, Bernie.  But, I do remember how bummed I'd feel after coming back to a full work week after several shortened ones, days off, etc.  Glad the snow didn't cause any problems getting into work.

Sorry you lost your post, Kathleen.  Please try again if you have time.  I don't think I'll have any problems with DH trying to cook something since he has never tried that before.  It is a shame about your grandmother, and I am sorry your Mom got some flak for sending her to a nursing facility.  

Glad your tree has lasted so long, Marijane.  Sorry it is so cold there.

Happy your Mom was better today, twinny.  I know that worry/stress can take a toll on you.  Hang in there, and sending you big hugs.

LINDA L,  I am sorry for another mess today.  You are so right it is stressful trying to make the best choices in health care.  Your situation is much worse then mine as you are living with it 24\7.  Prayers for you that you can find a workable plan.

DH & I take one day each week  for ourselves which does help a lot.  This week it will be on Wednesday.  We have eye exams & then plan to shop in a little town & have lunch on the way home.

I am "winding down" now as my next infusion is on Friday.  Never a dull moment around here.
