SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, FEB. 18)

Good morning, shopping friends. With every holiday, my inbox is littered with sales I can't miss. Delete, delete!

Right now, it is raining. We have had a very odd winter. The only snow we have had has been just a dusting. Ice is another matter. I keep waiting for the snow bomb to drop as I have known it to snow in early April here but a minimal amount. Let's just say that I have had no need for any type of snow shovel, including the Sno-Jo battery powered snow blower. If I hadn't ordered it, it would have dumped.

Apparently, Twinny and Bernie are getting all the snow but they appreciate it more than Linda, Charlene or I do. Twinny, good job on restraining yourself from Q online purchases. The Tips purchase is well justified. I remember visiting the Studio Store and tour several years ago when participating in an audience show. Bernie--Enjoy the capris. You always have great luck with your JCP purchases.

Right now,  I don't have anything in process from the Q, Kohls or OneHanesPlace.com. We will see how long that lasts. I have the purse organizers offered earlier this morning. These are great and the reviews agree with me.  I'm debating ordering another at the clearance price for the infamous gift drawer for any gift need that arises as they are that good for a reasonable price.

Right now, I am updating my Garmin. I haven't done that for a year as I typically only using it when traveling to unfamiliar places out of state. Needless to say, I had to update the software as well as the maps. So far, it has been taking 45 minutes with the warning not to unplug from computer.  I guess I should do it quarterly whether I plan to use it or not since the updates are free.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely one day at a time.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, FEB. 18)

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Jean - Thank you for starting us today.  Hope the Garmin update goes well.  We used our Garmin when we were in South Africa a few years ago.  So glad we used it there, and it worked wonderfully.  We like to keep up with the updates, just makes life easier.

We are getting a dusting of snow right now, I don't think it is going to accumulate to anything.  Keep hoping the groundhog is correct and we get an early spring.

Not much going on here, trying to declutter more.  I don't know if I had written this before, when DH had his stroke in November I had a thought - If he was wheelchair bound our house is two stories and not set up for a wheelchair.  If we would have to move to a more accommodating house I would have to pack all this "stuff" up to move it.  Well after a thinking on that for two seconds the answer is no.  So I am trying to clean out a little everyday.  It is slow going, but a few bags have gone to donations.   I will try to keep at it.

I hope everyone is having a good morning, and hope the weather is cooperating with you.  Have a good morning.

Susan--We are having some rain but not your snow dusting but rumor is that this might change. It is so true that we often don't think about how our home is suitable to wheelchairs or other accomodations.

I had a cousin who had to build an extension on to the home to provide a downstairs bath and bedroom since neither could do the stairs with any ease. This was followed by one who had a stroke after the remodeling.  People don't think about these issues while young unless confronted with an issue causing mobility problems.  The width of doors also factors into this.

Oh my! I just heard this as part of the sales pitch for a Little Giant Ladder. "This is the only ladder I would get on with 4 inch heels."  My days of wearing even 3 inch heels are long over.  I like Little Giant ladders but I don't think it is necessary to say they are safe for 4 inch heels.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, FEB. 18)

Good Morning/Afternoon!  No 4" heels for me, Jean.  Actually, nothing higher than 2 1/2", and that is rare.  After my divorce, I tried high heels for a while, but the pain was unbelievable.  Even when I was young and wore higher heels, I would have never used them on a ladder of any type.  Crazy idea.  You are quite right about unforeseen mobility issues when one is young.  I remember thinking that having bars in the shower and bathtub was something that would make me feel old.  Now, I find them quite reassuring.  Most of the houses in this retirement area are one story, and I figured it was a good idea for older people, but the doors would have to be modified to accommodate a wheelchair.

I think I have done a pretty good job of eliminating the tempting e-mails, but I still get some.  Like you, they normally go to the trash folder right away.  Thanks to you, I looked at the laser printers on-line and found some reasonably priced ones.  But, I'll try to limp along with the one I have.  This one is not as old as your old one, but the previous one only lasted a couple of years.

We are expecting rain here, but it has not started yet.  But, it is cool and windy.  At "strong bones" one of the ladies said that this was the most "wintry" winter she has had here, and she has lived here for 30 years.  They are predicting the chilly temperature all week.  Not fun for me.  Hopefully, you won't need to deal with more ice or snow.

My Garmin is very out-of-date.  I guess that I should follow your example.

Good job with the de-cluttering, Susan.  It is really quite a job, and I don't imagine I will ever be finished.  But, I do pat myself on the back with every bag/box that goes out. Hope your husband is doing well.

One of the ladies in my exercise class (who lives in my neighborhood) has sold her house, and she and her husband are moving into an apartment in a "senior" building.  Very nice place.  Anyway, their house has been on the market so long that they have sold much of the furniture, etc., but they still have a few things to move.  The buyer made a cash offer, but wanted a last closing (next week). So, they have been very busy.

After my exercise class, I made a quick visit to the lady who fell in her courtyard and hurt her head.  She was not feeling that great, and she does not care for the food at the rehabilitation place.  I didn't recognize her at first because she has always put her hair in a lovely French twist and had makeup on at the senior lunch program.  She was still pretty, but looked very different.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. Great idea to take advantage of the free shipping to order a "need" twinny.  Good luck with your medical procedures.

Linda--I don't have any bars installed at home but have been debating it.  If you decide to get a laser printer combo, I don't think you will regret it but always try to get the most mileage you can out of your current printer. I'm glad you were able to visit the lady who fell; I am sure she appreciated your visit.

Like you, I don't think I'll every get the decluttering done. It is such an overwhelming task at times, especially when I am tired.

I tried a new to me Progresso soup for lunch. The butternut squash soup is excellent. I am now off for a couple of hours of reading.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (MONDAY, FEB. 18)

Hi Jean @KonaKat   I was bombarded with emails this morning.  I checked the sender's name and hit the delete key like you.

I could have sworn I saw new dangle earrings offered by American West the other day in new arrivals and now I can't find them.

I'm considering the bird/sodalite Q2 big deal.  I have a lovely enhancer that I bought last year and the bracelet would compliment it well.

American West Sterling Silver Sodalite Bird Enhancer - J355640

Of course the earrings I saw were sodalite with a little bird charm in the same design and if I am being honest, I think I'd wear the earrings more than the stretch bracelet.  This is why I am sitting on my hands right now.  I'd prefer the earrings and hope they show up some time today.

Susan @PAlady   I remember you saying that you might have to consider moving after your beloved's stroke.  Whether you move or not, it's always good to thin out the clutter every now and then.  How's he feeling?

Linda @LindaLatte   I agree with you and Jean about the heels and a ladder.  I have a little giant and I can tell you that the rungs are not so comfortable that they would accommodate heels.  Woman Very Happy

My printer is old - I bought it for my husband (and he's been gone 12 years).  It's an HP photosmart 7960, ha ha ha.

Every now and again I think about replacing it and then I ask myself why.  I don't print very often and it's still working.

It was nice of you to visit the lady in rehab.
