SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

Good morning, shopping friends! I started the day with a surprise message on my voice mail as I missed the call while in the bathroom. Apparently, I'm being referred to the orthopedic person on Monday as a result of the ultra sound. That certainly was fast as he must have had a cancellation. He is usually booked up a month in advance as I see him for my shoulder.

I need to go to the hospital and pick up a copy of the ultra sound to take to the appointment, and I also have prescriptions to pick up. I might spend the rest of the day going to the city just to relax. Right now, I'm having my mid-morning snack of greek yogurt.

I see that the Dennis Basso jacket I requested to be replaced in a different size is in the process of shipping. I did see an SG top this morning that I liked. In view of all that is going on, I might consider treating myself to it as a birthday present from Midnight. Can I help it if he knows my password to order?

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

Jean, It is so good that you get in that quick to see your specialist. I like to get things done as quickly as possible. I hope you do finally get that DB jacket & it fits you well. Midnight sounds like such a wonderful pet for you.

It rained most of the night, but stopped so DH could get his walk in today. Nothing exciting going on around here today. I get my port flushed this morning so I just got numbing the site of it so it is pretty much a pain free procedure for me. I hate needles & am a chicken! Then it is grocery shopping & banking. We have a CD that came due yesterday & the interest rates now really make me want to cry.

Tomorrow we will be going to a benefit at the middle school in our town for a little 4 year old girl from our church. She was diagnosed with leukemia last August & her family has astronomical medical bills & she needs at least 1 1/2 year more of those very expensive chemo treatments. She is such a sweetheart & her parents are so loving that it has been a sad situation for all that know them.

It is supposed to snow this afternoon/evening but not too much. Sunny tomorrow but only low 40's. Then mostly 30's all next week. If only those nasty winds would die down too. I heard on the radio today that they had bad hail storms in TX overnight. I hope all of the "Badger fans" down there are safe awaiting for tomorrow night's big game.

Hugs to all of you.

Twinny--Bad news about the snow; I hear rumors of that for us next week. Enjoy the benefit; it is, indeed, a worthy cause. I'm glad the flushing of the port is relatively pain free. Needles can be unpleasant, especially when they go into the joints.

I've axed my plans to go to the city; we have a bad storm brewing but I'm making the run to the hospital now to pick up the disc of the films.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

Good Morning! That was fast work Jean. Hope that things go well on Monday. Is this related to your shoulder or something else? Sorry the weather is making your trip to the city a no go for today. Hope your new jacket comes soon, and you enjoy Midnight's gift if he decides to order it.

Too bad about the possible snow twinny. I'm very glad the port flushing is pretty much pain free for you. I'm certainly not a fan of needles myself. And, sometimes they can be quite painful. Hope the benefit is fun tomorrow. It is so sad when a sweet little child has such serious medical issues. Seems like there are many benefits of this type in our area.

It is cool here today -- by which I mean it was only 40 degrees when I woke up. But, it is supposed to get warmer today than yesterday (70's versus 60's.) I know that we have been very spoiled this winter in contrast with most of the country. Drought is shaping up as a major issue, however.

Much to my surprise and delight, the State tax refund came today (the Federal came yesterday). We used most of the Federal refund for the roof repairs, but the State can go into savings for me (DH used his for his estate attorney bill.) I know many need to pay rather than get a refund, so I'm happy that isn't the case for us. We probably have too much withheld, but I'm okay with that rather than owing money.

DH and I made it to the gym yesterday, and all went well there. Then we went to the estate attorney, and that was a bit of a mess. His paralegal had made some errors in the paperwork, so much of the work needed to be re-done. We will need to have several more visits to the attorney. Oh well.....

I stopped by a local nursery on the way home and purchased a small blooming cactus. The owner expects more cactus to come in next week, so I may go back. The blooming cactus are so beautiful. There are quite a lot of plants blooming here -- April is a good month for blooms.

Nothing planned for today, but I'm sure we will be taking a walk. Thanks for your suggestions about my arthritic knee. I was able to sleep without medicine last night, which was good.

Have a good day everyone!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

Good Morning: Ladies---prayers for you with special medical appointments. The docs can always get a "quick" apt. if there is a need---where we have to wait when we call.

Oh no a storm brewing! We had a chance of severe weather last night. Had my ladies meeting at church. One lady is a quilter---lost her home in the wildfires---and most all her quilts, machines, and supplies.

She has recreated six blocks of flowers from the Bible---it was beautiful and so informative. We will all transfixed. She is very precise and does beautiful work.

Got into the vehicle to a storm warning with possible hail. Heard a thunder boom in the night--and got up to heavy winds---it is the season for severe weather with the mix of hot and cold.

It is difficult to see a child deal with such medical issues. Prayers for her family.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

Linda---The tax return money is being put to good use; the timing couldn't have been better. Sorry the paralegal messed up the legal documents; that process is such a pain to begin with and now this just extends it. 40 degrees is definitely cool for your area.

LindaR--The lady who quilts sounds like a very talented person; it is a shame she lost so much in the fire. Hopefully, your storms will not be too bad; it is beginning to be the season for them.

It is a good thing I decided not to go to the city; it is almost as dark as late evening now. It poured while I went to the hospital to pick up a copy of the Ultra sound. We now have flood warnings.

The issue that resulted in the ultra sound began a few days ago. I noticed a tingling in my right leg and at night began having problems sleeping from "restless leg" in the right leg. Tuesday morning, when I awakened, I looked at my feet and noted the right one looked like it was beginning to swell. My feet swell in the summer or when doing a lot of walking or high altitude but both swell but the right one does swell more.

They have attributed it in the past to a vein problem. That evening, I had a regular scheduled appointment and my right foot was definitely swollen. I hadn't injured it so the doctor wanted to eliminate the possibility of a blood cloth and ordered the ultra sound. They did an Ace bandage wrap on it and thought they were doing it loosely. When I awakened the next day, I took the Ace bandage off to take a shower. It had cut into my right foot and part of my lower right leg.

I decided to wear, instead, my medium compression stockings I wear when traveling or flying to help reduce swelling. At the end of the day, which included work, I easily removed the left one (they are hard to put on) but the right one was very hard to remove. The right foot was swollen; the leg was fine as was the left leg and foot. The ultra sound did find a problem but I'm also wondering if I might have a stress fracture in that foot. I know it isn't a blood clot. Time will tell.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

Oh my--I know you mentioned now sleeping due to leg pain. Hopefully it is something you can attend to easily. I think it is wise that they got you in quickly as it sounds like it needs attention.

Having had a blood clot---my ankle does swell at times---usually alleviated by getting off of it and elevating. But I don't diagnosis others---leave that to the trained people.

Glad you didn't set out early for the city--you might have had some tough conditions to traverse. Flood warnings---you do get some tough conditions in your area.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

LindaR--My area has several rivers, streams, etc. along with low lying areas where the roads dip down right where a cut out permits backwater to cover the road when it rains so hard that it can't drain. I've been in the city when it rained so hard that the streets were covered with water because it was raining so hard that the drains wouldn't take care of the water.

Kindle time and time to cuddle with Midnight.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

Hi girls!

It's cloudy and overcast out, but it seems like the thunderstorms that were forecast aren't going to materialize. The warm weather continues and is supposed to last for the next 10 days (and hopefully after that), so I'm going to try and finish with my clothes swap today ... although I'm still tired from about 20 trips up and down the stairs the other day. I'll leave a few warm sweaters easily accessible, but I doubt I'll be needing them.

Hope you like your new jacket, Jean. I have several spring weight jackets and am thinking of donating at least a few of them, since we have about 2 1/2 hours of spring here - it seems to go right from winter to summer, with little or no need of lightweight jackets. In fact, most of mine have never been worn.

Twinny, I agree interest rates are pitiful - they don't even keep up with inflation rates! So much for the "Rule of 72" - at present interest rates it would take 144 years to double your money! Have you considered a good, solid mutual fund, perhaps in utilities?

Yesterday I took the girls out, and since I was starving, not having eaten since breakfast, and had a BOGO coupon for chicken sandwiches at Sonic, thought I'd stop there for a quick bite. I ordered the sandwiches and a burger for each of the dogs, and there was one car in front of me. I waited about 8 minutes for that person to get their order (which I assumed would be a big one, but no, they were handed one small bag), then pulled up to the window. No one greeted me, said it would be a moment or anything - people inside were just apparently running around like chickens with their heads cut off, and after I had been waiting for 15 minutes total gave up and drove off; we went to Taco Bell instead - the girls had to settle for cheese rolls, which lasted about 10 seconds. {#emotions_dlg.laugh} So much for "fast" food - I could have gone to a sit-down restaurant and gotten my order faster! To be sure, corporate will be getting a complaint. {#emotions_dlg.mad}

We went to the park for a walk, and as it turns out Autumn loves water - she waded into the stream and would have gone swimming if I let go of the leash; I'll have to get her one of those long, retractable ones. It was the funniest thing to see her trying to "bite" a waterfall! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin} I had to pick up some pet food at Walmart, and had an urge to go to TJ Maxx as I love the purse I'm using so much that I was hoping to find it in a lighter color. They didn't have the same one, but I got one that's similar. They had some adorable print purses, but since most of the clothing I wear is print I wouldn't get much use out of them....as is the case with the print purses I already have.

Linda, it's a shame your friend lost so much in a fire. {#emotions_dlg.sad} Quilts are so beautiful, and although I've done many different needlecrafts, I don't think I have the patience to do a quilt.

Guess I'd better run and check on the dogs - they're barking like crazy. I'm making stuffed cabbage for dinner and want to get them started as well. I had made pasta sauce with sausage last week, but it got burned on the bottom and I stupidly scraped the bottom of the pan before removing the "top" portion, so the entire batch ended up tasting burned. Oh well...the dogs were happy!

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY)

Arlene--good find on the handbag. I agree with you about printed handbags. I just find them too "busy." I had a drive thru experience in which I was picking up something light to take home for dinner. When I got home and opened the bag, I discovered I had someone else's order..a more expensive one. I called them and they gave me a credit to use the next time I used them. I also got to keep the meal. Good thing as I wasn't driving back 48 miles. I hope the other person called also!

I must be exhausted or something. I went to bed to read and fell asleep. I don't usually sleep in the daytime.
