SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY THE 13TH OF SEPT!)

Good morning, shopping frends. I've been up since 3:30am only because I was so tired last evening that I went to bed early and got my 7 hours of sleep in.

I had my cardiology appointment. They increased the strength of a drug in hopes the rate would decrease. They can't do anything about the rhythm until they are sure the clot has dissolved. I go back in two weeks. They changed the dx of the type of AFIb I have to a more serious type based upon the length of time it has been non-stop.  I was cleared to work but told not to lift anything heavy and to monitor how I felt. The rate measured yesterday was much lower than the 183 when I went into the hospital but still not at the desired level

After the appointment, I made a quick run into WalMart and then returned home and picked up the new prescription which I started this morning. When I got home, I did my usual pack the WalMart bags into one hand. By the time I got from the parked car and into the house, I was out of breath so I now know what they meant by not lifting a heavy load. Each bag by itself wasn't bad but combine 5 bags, and it was a different matter.

I guess we are starting a fashion weekend. I just turned on the TV to see Lean presenting Vionic ankle boots. I like them but enough is enough. I need to see how the medical bills shake out before I indulge in any wants.

Hav a great day. If you shop, shop wisely one day at a time.

Jean..sorry to hear about the new diagnosis. I have a thought for you on how to get things into the house. Amazon sells light weight carts to haul groceries etc from car to home. I cannot carry bags easily and this works very well for me...mine is orange and collapsible and very lightweight.

Fingers crossed that your dr can get things figured out.

Good Morning Jean @KonaKat   I hope the increased dosage of the medication has the desired results on your heart rate.  I know exactly what your saying about the combined weight of shopping bags when you gather them up with one hand.  That's something I need to watch myself.

I usually go through self scan and am conscious of the weight of each bag when I'm bagging after scanning.  I pull into an attached garage so it's not like I need to beat the rain, snow or wind.  I finally had to ask myself why I was testing the endurance of my shoulders by loading up each arm with grocery bags.  It was like I challenged myself to get the trunk empty in the least amount of trips Woman Embarassed

Bernie--It is the challenge of the least amount of trips or "Let's get this done and over with in the shortest amount of time." So far, I have resisted "self checkout."

So far, I am being bery successful in resisting any item presented.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY THE 13TH OF SEPT!)

My dentist's office called yesterday and it's all systems go for the crown replacement that I think I talked about here before, lol.

The insurance company denied the core build up because they don't know that it's medically necessary for the replacement crown.  You can't see the core on X-ray when there is an existing crown on it.

I told Jane, don't worry about the core build up, let's just schedule the appointment.

My COBRA dental insurance ends on Halloween and the dental appointment is October the 10th.  How's that for close Woman Tongue

Because my dentist is a par provider and everything is based on approved amount, even with the core build up being my responsibility, it's gonna cost me a total of $310 versus over $1,600 if I had no insurance.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY THE 13TH OF SEPT!)

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Sorry that the news wasn't all positive from the cardiologist, Jean, but happy that there were positive aspects like your being able to work again.  I know how much you enjoy your subbing.  Hopefully, the drug will work, the clot disappears, any procedures can be done and work, and you can go back to your lower AFIB category.

I had one of those moments when you mentioned the bag problem.  As you may have guessed, we have similar levels of determination, and I always tried to carry in the maximum number of bags with the minimum trips.  Not a long distance from my carport, and rain and snow are rarely an issue.  Heat for sure.

Lately, I have changed things up a bit -- not to getting winded, but concern about shoulder pain, etc.  I have found that around here at least, the clerks tend to overload the bags you bring to the store.  When they fill their own plastic bags, no problem.  Anyway, what I do now is take the cart to the car, divide up the groceries into other bags I have there, and then carry in no more than three bags at a time.

Barbara's idea is an excellent one.

That is good news about your dental insurance, Bernie. Sorry you can't keep it longer. I only took dental insurance once, and it cost more for the dental insurance plus co-pays than I would have paid without insurance.

Happy to say that I am almost completely back to normal today. I was very tired late yesterday afternoon, but managed to take a short nap and then stay up to my regular time. And, this morning I finally had my appetite back -- maybe not quite all the way back, but I was able to eat breakfast.

I had my aerobic and chair yoga classes this morning, which was quite a good workout. This afternoon, I have my ultrasound (for my varicose veins) plus see the vein doctor -- finally. Hope to get some grocery shopping done before I go to the doctor since I know it will be a long visit.

DD is not sure, but she thinks the health insurance change the family is making in October may not be as bad as she feared. Fingers crossed that is true.

Waves to all of our posters and readers. Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Linda @LindaLatte   I was so happy to read that you had a pleasant installation experience and that you really like your new doors.

Glad you're feeling better and I hope the vein doctor appointment goes well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY THE 13TH OF SEPT!)

Linda--I am glad that you are feeling better today and that you were able to participate in your classes. It is good that DD believes the change in insurance will not adversely affect her family. Like you, I do think I need to modify how I handle those bags.

The cardiology practice has called me twice today. One was to check to see how the med change was going, and the second was to let me know that I have a cardioversion in my future after 5 weeks of uninterrupted use of the blood thinner. The practice's motto is "Patients come first with us." There are 16 cardiology specialists in this practice.  I go back in two weeks to see how I am doing with the change in meds and to discuss the upcoming cardioversion.
