SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12)

Good morning, shopping friends. It is a nippy Fall day here with temps about 20 degrees lower than what we have been having. Even lower is expected for tomorrow.

I went to town to get in my safety deposit box at the bank. We are building a new bank, which has motivated me to see what "treasures" are lurking in that box.

I stopped at the Post Office and found my  Denim & Co. chenille TSV and matching top. Oh, is this a winner! It is one of those things you wish you had ordered more than one. The fit is perfect on both and the chenile is so comfy and soft..

I need to get groceries, so I likely will make the trip to the city tomorrow to have lunch with a friend and then get groceries. I was scheduled to work but a mold problem was discovered in the HVAC system so that school is closed while the situation is being corrected

Our prayers are with those recovering from the wrath of Michael, as well as those ill or who have lost loved ones.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12)

Good afternoon Jean @KonaKat  I'm so glad your new Denim & Co. pieces are winners.  I placed a JCP order today Woman Embarassed  The sale was 25% off $100 and ebates was at 12% today.

I picked up PJs because the print was described as red birdy floral, lol.

Adonna 2-pc.Notch Collar Pant Pajama Set

St. John's Bay 3/4 Sleeve Embroidered Henley - Tall

2 pair of dark gray athletic pants for bumming around the house.

A pair of dress pants

Liz Claiborne Mellinium Pull On Pant - Tall

I didn't spend enough for free shipping (after the discount) but I'm okay with that.  JCP charges 8.95 to ship the whole shebang, which I consider a bargain.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12)

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Jean.  Glad you are so happy with your D&Co. items.  Of course, I am starting to think that I should have ordered the TSV.  Oh well.....

It is a rainy day here, and on the cooler side (highs predicted to be in the upper 60's or low 70's).  And, they are predicting highs in the 70's all next week.  That is cooler than normal here, but still pretty warm for other areas.  Hope you enjoy lunch in the city tomorrow.  Too bad about the mold problem, but I'm glad they are looking into it right away.  I am so sorry about Michael's destruction, and the loss of life.  Praying for those affected by the storm.

Today was our annual pancake breakfast at the firehouse, and I thought that there might be fewer people due to the rain.  I wore a raincoat on my walk there, and I was happy to have it.  Instead of fewer there seemed to be more people. DH's facility had a booth, and I had a nice chat with the representative there.  She invited me to come to any of their activities, but I am not sure that I will take her up on the offer.  I'm still a bit fragile.

Not sure if I shared this yesterday (sorry if I did), but I had a good talk with the CPA who does our taxes yesterday morning.  He pointed out a few things and answered my questions about what I should do regarding filing for withholding, etc.  Fortunately, no huge surprises.  And, my appointment with the ear doctor and audiologist went well.  Long story short, my hearing has not gotten any worse, and the perforations in my ear drums are the same and dry.  It is extremely important that I keep my ears dry.  The great news is that I don't need to go back for another year rather than the six month cycle I have had.

Today I have my OLLI de-cluttering class, and I'll probably stop by Sprouts for some produce after class.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Bernie--Great purchases from JCP and yes, the cost of shipping was reasonable. Why buy something else to get free shipping when the item was not needed and the cost of item might have been more than the cost of shipping the others. Love the Columbo meme!

Linda--Good news on hearing not getting worse, something confirmed by the longer period in between checkups. It is quite understandable that you might be somewhat fragile when  participating in DH's facility activities. You are making great progress on settling the estate.

Here is my " one more thing." I have a bra that is one of the best fitting ones I have ever had. I went to One Hanes Place to purchase another and saw that this $35+ Bali bra was marked down to $11.99 or 3 for $30. I immediately sensed my favorite was being phased out, so I quickly replaced it to the tune of 6 for $60 and free shipping. I am not an easy person to fit as there is something always lacking somewhere but this is the magic item. Why good things are phased out is beyond me, as it usually involves a long and expensive search to find a decent replacement.

Hi Linda @LindaLatte  Sounds like the pancake breakfast was a success.  So glad the appointments with the CPA and medical professionals went well.  One day you may be able to visit the facilities for an activity or you may not.  My thoughts are that you will know if and when you are ready.

I remember when I had to go back to work after my extended time off after my husband passed away.  He retired from the same company as me and even though he hadn't worked there in several years every where I looked there was a reminder.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12)

Good catch on your part Jean @KonaKat  I don't know why lingerie companies (in particular) feel the need to change well selling underpants or bras.  I remember a couple of years ago I went to Meijers to buy some new cotton underwear and my style was nowhere to be seen.  I visited several stores and finally stumbled across several packages at Walmart.  I had underwear already however I always like brand new, you know in case you know ahead of time you could be going to the hospital, rofl.

Usually I won't take the last package of anything but in the case of my favorite underpants it was every woman for herself and I cleared out what was available.  I still have a couple of unopened packages.
