SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY, APRIL 21)

Hi Everyone!

It's hot and sunny today for our area. They have severe thunderstorm watch with high winds and possible flooding for this afternoon. I'm hoping it holds off until I get the drive thru banking checked off the list.

The dogs and I started planting a few flowers on the patio yesterday. It was hot for us. I was short one planter but decided that i would get the poor plant in the small planter and replant it later this weekend in the proper size. I have a few more for the new front porch planters but I'm going to need to drag out the dirt and marble chips, etc. for that project. I need a cooler day. Crossing my fingers that happens this weekend.

Have a good weekend.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY, APRIL 21)

Good Afternoon/Evening and thanks for getting us started, Fressa.  Hope you were able to get to the bank, and your weather improves.  I sure don't like the sound of that forecast.

It was cool this morning (40's), they are predicting a high of 88 degrees.  I had a travel club meeting in the morning so waited to take my walk about 11:00 a.m. when it was pretty hot.

A man whose son (an archaeologist) and DIL live in Greece presented information at the travel club about an area of Greece that I had never heard about before -- Volos on the Pelion Peninusula.  Beautiful scenery including views from hotels right on the water as well as lots of delicious looking food.  I doubt that I'll ever travel there, but very appealing.

I talked to DD who said the biopsy was painful, and she will not get the results for two weeks.  I really hope they come sooner and she feels better.

I think this is the day Jean was going to the doctor, but she has not posted about what happened.  I'll update you when she does.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Have a nice evening.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY, APRIL 21)

Fressa, we had a few hot days last week which I am not fond of.  Hope it's not going to be a hot summer or I will be begging to go to AK for 3 months.  It's supposed to be cold this weekend and most of next week.  As long as it's sunny, I am happy.  The stainless steel hose came this afternoon, but my dh won't be using it until we get back from vacation.  He will be emptying the hot tub tomorrow and refilling it when we get back from vacation.

Linda L, I am sorry that your dd said the biopsy was painful.  When I had a liver biopsy about 15 years ago, my GI Dr. said I would feel like I had been hit by a semi.  I did for a few days.  Thanks for the update on Barbara.  I am sure you saw a lot of beautiful pictures.

Bird Mama, you were wise to keep the birthday gifts until they were healthy.  I am sure she enjoyed them.

Susan, enjoy your new furniture.  We have two nice furniture companies in town so it's a fun job.  The last thing I bought was a new microwave.  Mine died in the morning and I had a new one by the afternoon.

We finished doing our spring cleaning in the basement this morning.  Not a bad job with both of us.  I got up early and hung out two loads of laundry.  It was breezy so they dried nicely.

Tomorrow morning I have to steam mop the floors.  Then I will be ready for our  guests on Sunday afternoon.  We are all going to Culver's for dinner.

We went to the gym this afternoon.  Last time until we get back from vacation.  I am taking my 2# dumb bells with me.  I am sure we will be doing enough walking.

Our guests are leaving after breakfast on Monday.  Later in the morning we will be heading to my infusion center.   Then we are going to the Subaru dealer for a car wash and  making sure that the tires have enough air in them.

My dh went to see his Mom yesterday and she is black and blue on one of her legs from the fall last week. It seems like her balance is bad.  I am hoping that she doesn't have to move to a different facility.

Declan is starting his monoclonal treatments this week.  I think they are experimental treatments, but I am not sure.

Hugs to all of you.

Glenda

LindaLatte--I will keep your DD in my prayers. Two weeks is a long time to wait for results but medicine seems to have it's on schedule.

I've always thought Greece would be a great place to see. It just looks so beautiful.

Twinny70--I will keep Declan and his parents as well as you DH's Mom in my prayers.

This year I used a different "plan of attack" on the Spring Cleaning around here and it didn't work as well as I hoped. Back to the original routine.

My bf who moved to SC is having a difficult time with the heat this year. This is the first year they didn't travel as much and especially to Cape Cod. They did have the Florida room remodeled with all new doors and locks. They are the entire wall in that room. She said the geckos were getting under the rubber edgin

g. UGH!! The door locks and handles were oversized and the installer only had 2 of the 3 they needed. (6 month wait to get the third one) He had an old one on the truck that he installed so at least they can lock the door. She said at least she's relieved that the house is locked and the wildlife will remain outside.

You are so organized with all of your travels and guests. Have fun on your vacation.

[ Edited ]

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Glad you and your DH have completed your spring cleaning in advance of your trip, Glenda.  Prayers for your MIL and Declan and family.

Thanks for your prayers for my DD, Fressa.  I can't believe it takes two weeks to get the results, but I guess you are correct about medicine being on its own timetable.  Good luck with your spring cleaning.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I have never done "spring cleaning" like many, including my DD.  Not to say that I don't clean, just not a set aside special time/routine for spring.  My parents never did this, so I didn't get into the habit.

My Saturday hospice patient called me this morning when I was on my walk to say that she wasn't well and didn't want me to visit today.  Seems like she is going through a lot of health issues, including painful sciatica that has left her bed bound.  She said that she hoped to get a lift chair and small TV for the bedroom since she hasn't been able to make it to the TV room all week.  I emailed the volunteer coordinator, and she said that the hospice nurse and others are trying to help.  My patient asked me to call during the week, and I will do so.

It was cool on my walk, but predicted to reach 89 degrees later.  Glad the house isn't hot so far at least.

Waves to Bernie, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice Saturday.

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. Just to clarify, my parents had a routine that we all cleaned the house and did much of the laundry on Saturday mornings.  I have kept up the laundry habit to this day, but cleaning can happen any day of the week.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (FRIDAY, APRIL 21)

Hello all, the sun just came out after back to back gloomy/rainy days.  I pulled the rest of the bricks that were semi buried along the bottom of the chain link fence bordering my neighbor to the south.  Honestly, I was already sick of mulch and now I'm sick of bricks Woman Very Happy  I moved around 145 bricks from the backyard into the garage in January and I think I've added at least 30 in the past week.  I'll walk the property one more time and then arrange for 1 800 Got Junk to come out mid-week.

I'm okay with not moving the concrete crescent shaped pieces that border the small bed where there was once a shrub because I've listed some on Freecyle recently and had takers.  I'm trying to focus on the items that I need 1 800 Got Junk people to take away.

From Jean's FB page --

Fractured neck update: At Friday's appointment, it was determined it was healing and in proper position. I will have to wear the Cervical Collar at least 5 more weeks when I have another appointment.

Happy her neck is healing and in proper position.

Birdmama---What an endless project. Glad you are doing it in stages. It will be nice when it's all done. That's what I have to remind myself of with each of these ongoing projects. Hopefully, you're have the entire summer season to enjoy your new fence.
