SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (EASTER SUNDAY, 4/5)

Good morning, shopping friends. It is a beautiful sunny day, a contrast to the past two days. Now, if the temperatures would get above freezing, we will have a winning combination.

I'll be going to the city today to have dinner with a friend. Afterwards, I'll likely do some grocery shopping at WalMart for some items to carry me over until I leave for Hawaii.

I am watching the Philosophy show right now. I once ordered its TSVs but then it just didn't continue working well for me and the shower gel leaves me an itching person. I had to switch to a shower gel for sensitive skin which works very well, and is far less expensive.

Costs? I know prices are going up but the way things are going, buying in multiples when you find a style that works is getting prohibitive. If the quality goes with the price point, then the item will likely last a long time. That requires purchasing items in a classic style that will withstand the test of time. The more trendy items need to be bought at a far lower price point and perhaps lesser quality but if not worn for 3 years, then the lower price works.

I remember going into a department store and seeing a line of clothing. In fine print on the reverse side of the label, was the words "made by....." a more expensive line. I had a suit I had bought at Nordstrums and saw the almost identical suit at that department store at $20 less. You really had to look closely to see the difference which involved some stitching on the jacket lining.

It is now April 5 and the capris I ordered on April 1 are still in process. I have no idea why it is taking so long. I usually get items before a week is up and sometimes they have shipped the day of or the day after ordering, although rare. The odd thing is that I have discovered some lines ship faster than others. If it had been a QF item I had ordered, it would have been here by now. This is a Denim & Co. item. I remember getting great pair of crops last year at WalMart which are still great. Perhaps I should have gone to WalMart.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (EASTER SUNDAY, 4/5)

I was just reading the "Stan Herman" thread. I like Stan and am looking at two robes I've pulled out to debate which to take on the trip, and which to use for the hospital in June. These are not chenille which is fine with me as I'm not a chenille lover. One is a white wrap and one is a blue zip item. I also have a long winter one in animal print. I rarely wear these around home, but use them when traveling, etc.

Off to get ready to go to the city. Have a great day!

Jean, have fun in the city today with your friend. It is beautiful & should be mid 60's today. DH & I are heading to our church Easter brunch followed by service. Will not fix much for lunch as we won't be hungry. I woke up with a back ache so I really look forward to the hot tub today. Maybe a moped ride too. YEAH! Go Badger's. Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (EASTER SUNDAY, 4/5)

Good morning ladies, and Happy Easter.

Jean - Thank you for starting us today, have a good time at dinner with your friend. I would take the wrap robe to the hospital, it may just be easier to get in and out of. Do you know how long you will be in the hospital? If you told us I apologize, I did not remember. Hope there isn't too many people at Walmart, around here is hit and miss on holidays, I have gone in and there is a few people and then go in on holidays on other times and half the county is there.

Twinny - Enjoy your brunch today, and hope you get in the hot tub.

Not much going on today, we are going to my parent's house for lunch and will come home and paint the trim in the downstairs. I know you all are so jealous of me. If you are in the area come and help.

Well off to get ready to leave, have a good day everyone.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (EASTER SUNDAY, 4/5)

Good Morning and Happy Easter to all who celebrate! Thanks for getting us started, Jean. Have a good time with your friend. Glad that it is sunny today.

I don't often buy multiples these days, mostly that is a good decision. For some reason, if I buy two items in different colors, I end up wearing one way more than the other. That makes me feel bad -- probably sounds weird, but.... That is strange about the D&Co. capris. Hope they are on their way soon, and you receive them next week. It is very rare for me to receive anything from Q quickly now that I'm in Arizona. When I order the same item for both DD and I, she will usually have it in her hands before mine leaves the "in process" status. That can drive me crazy, but....

I love Stan Herman robes, and I mostly stick to them (different ones) year round. While the chenille ones were okay, I'm fine with the newer type. The winter ones are wrap robes in navy and red, and the summer one is a zip one in coral. I sometimes wear the coral one to the pool.

I probably should not admit this, but I usually just wear a robe when I pick up the paper or set out the trash in the morning. Just seems crazy to get dressed just to do those things. Actually, a robe would be an improvement compared to some of my neighbors who go out in pj's, etc. (we see them when we are taking our morning walks.)

Hope you have a great day, twinny. I saw parts of the basketball game yesterday evening, and Wisconsin was very good. Hope they win the championship. The women's basketball team from my school (University of Maryland) is in the final four. It would be nice if they won today. Hope your back feels better.

Have a good time at your parent's house for lunch, Susan. Unfortunately, my painting help would probably be more harm than help. Good luck with finishing that job.

Waves to Kathleen, Arlene, Gayle, Rosa, Marijane, LindaR, Charlene, pinky ann, Karen, Bernie, and all of our posters and readers.

DH and I will take our walk soon, and then I'll come back and get ready for church. I plan to go to the gym after church. No big plans for the afternoon. Dinner should be pretty easy -- ham steak, red potatoes, asparagus, and lemon cake for dessert. Very quiet, just the two of us. Hope to talk to DD later today, at least briefly.

Have a nice day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

I love vintage cards and images so I thought I would post this one to the 'shopaholics'.

I'm getting ready to head on over to my sister's house to celebrate Easter. We are a small family and it's always nice to see my great nieces.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (EASTER SUNDAY, 4/5)

Hi ladies, I haven't been on for the past couple of days so I went back and caught up on the threads. My best thoughts go out to those of you who are ill or have ill loved ones. (((hugs))) to you all.

I spent yesterday with my Mom and my sister, and will be going back to my Mom's today for a bigger family get-together. It always reminds me that I'm an introvert and not an extrovert. Not that I'm quiet - I can be quite talkative, but 2 hours seems to be my limit. After that, I just get tired and irritated. I need to go to a quiet place for a while to refresh and regroup.

My 85 year old Mom has hearing aids, but she didn't have them in yesterday. I suggested 3 times that she put them on, but she brushed my suggestions off. I really really don't intend to be rude to her about it, but then my sister and I had to endure her speaking loudly all day, asking us to repeat things that she didn't hear, or saying things herself that we had already discussed. I go back and forth between whether I should keep my mouth shut and just be patient with her, and speaking up to her more strongly about the hearing aids, and other issues. Oh well, either way I'm grateful that my Mom is still in my life and that she's a kind person. I have many blessings for which to be grateful!!!

Many blessings to all of you on this special day! ~ Charlene
