Yeh, in my younger days I got bamboozled a couple times by sales people (not necessarily QVC).   But not in the last 20-30 years.  I learned a couple hard lessons.    When a QVC host starts a hard sell, I change the channel.  If it's a product that I really want and need, I want to hear all the details.  QVC hosts usually don't give me the details I want to hear.

I'm not affected by sales jargon. If I like something, and I can afford it, I'll buy it; their words have nothing to do with my choice.

Having worked in R and D I feel I am not influenced.

Question is:  How much are you influenced by sales jargon ?

Greatly influenced  - but not in the way they intended!

----------------------------------

They seem to be more pushy lately - or maybe I'm just watching more. But they keep repeating - and avoid talking about the item they are sellng.

It doesn't matter to me if something sells out.  The world won't come to an end if something I want sells out.

Their actions (negatively) influence me as much as their words.  I cannot stand watching them jiggle the clothes on the hanger and stretch the fabric.  It's as annoying as playing with the soap suds and skin creams.

I buy only what I like and is comfortable to me.

Re: SALES JARGON

[ Edited ]

I fell for it probably twice. But now unless it's something that catches my eye or it's an item I've been wanting and it's returned on sale, I ignore the hard sell.

I love it when I hear "These jeans fit EXACTLY the way you want them to...." Are hosts telepathic?

Not influenced at all.

Can't decide? Get the black and a color. (every host, ever)

You need this top in every color. (HSN host)

Also, one vendor on HSN stated during a presentation that I needed every color of this particular top that was on clearance. "I never say this, but you need to get every color in this top." I checked reviews and they were not good. Every size left in every color.

The one line I do pay attention to is "only order of the season." If I'm at all interested in the item, I appreciate the heads up on availability. Otherwise my two eyes and reading ability tell a more realistic story than any fantasy scenario or generic words like "fun, must-have, or gorgeous" woven by a host into a presentation.
