We laugh at ourselves too! LOL

I once had a conversation in line with a young lady wearing a beautiful pair of boots because the thermostat had dipped below 71°!  We all do it.

I hate to be cold but I love cold-weather clothing

OMG .. same here ... when it gets 60 or below we see people on the

golf course in ear muffs and mittens .....

@Andreatoo

I do like ruanas.  I have two of them in woven fabric - solid colors.  They are so easy to make - I'd never consider buying one.

One black - in a menswear worsted, and one gray - same fabric in a heather gray which I made back to the mid-1980s. Black one I made in the mid-1990s.

Mine are knee-length.  Not a fan of a short ruana.  Okay for a poncho - not a ruana.  Knee-length is more dramatic!  The pattern I use is more than 30 years old - from Butterick.

For knitters - there's a book:  Folk Shawls - it has a nice ruana pattern.

For crocheters - best pattern is from Interweave Crochet - their Sunset Ruana done in Tunisian crochet.

Sources for both book and pattern are easy to find via Google.

Hi @ALRATIBA do you know of a place in Manhattan or not too far to buy material?  All the shops I knew are gone.  Not that I shop that often for material, but every once in a while I get an itch to sew.

@NYCLatinaMe

Over in the Garment District - there are several.  Mood, Fabric World, etc.

On the Lower East Side - Zarin, and some others

I know MIchael's on 6th Avenue sells fabrics - but I can't vouch for selection or quality.

I used to LOVE Patterson Silks on 14th St.  It broke my heart when the closed!

I really like it but, I think you have to be on the tall side to wear it .... I am only 5 feet tall so unfortunately it’s not for me 😪

@ALRATIBA Thanks so much for the suggestions!  The stores I used to go in the garment district are gone.  So now I have names!

I love it.  I have a collection or ruanas and wraps.  I live in MA so I get to wear them a lot.   I have two like that but solids, not prints.  I got them from ShopLC a couple of years ago.
