I loved the idea of this dress but sadly my black and olive are going back. I sized up and it just hangs in a most unflattering way. I tried belting but the ribbing seems to be in an awkward place. I also do not like the wide sleeve or the high V but the knit, of course, is beautiful. I fear the smaller size may grab at the hip so not sure I will reorder. Lots of returns on this one so maybe I will try again if/when the price drops.

How do you know that?

I do not work in QVC's return department, but occasionally read the boards. Sadly this one did not work out for me so I came here to read about what others have to say. Many people reported returning, and in multiples. Others are returning and exchanging for different sizes. Even in this post it sounds like Enjay is returning the 3 she bought. I think it rather odd that you are challenging me on this. Seriously!?!

Debbie-don't take the jab personally. Those posters attack or try to discredit anyone that dare criticize this line or the vendor. I think its good that you posted your honest assessment b/c the dress with the ribbing detail is not universally flattering. You probably saved other potential buyers from making a mistake & shelling out a return fee. The dress would have been more universally appealing without the ribbing detail at the waist.

OK, here's the challenge:

So, we have 23 posts in this thread by 15 women (and not all a buyer of this dress, like me) prior to the hyperbolic "lots of returns" statement in post #24. Of those 23 posts, only two women said they had sizing issues! One woman is ordering a smaller size to see IF she likes that better than the size she ordered; the other woman is on the fence about whether or not she is going to return her three for another size.

In another "What did you Buy" thread one woman reported "sadly" sending her one dress back as it it did not fit her proportions as she felt she was not "long and lean" enough for it.

So we know about 5 "possible" returns---not "lots of returns" "by many people" and "in multiples"--

Those are the KNOWN, established facts, not rabid speculation and hyperbole.

If you want credibility, you have to stick with the facts...it's just that simple.

Re: Review: Whisper Knit Dress

There are those who just LOVE to create a negative buzz about Linea. And somehow think that they are more adept at fashion and design than a Coty Award Hall of Fame designer. As I posted before, they travel in a pack. Very predictable and very transparent, as those of us who have been here a while know.

Re: Review: Whisper Knit Dress

I love these WK dresses. First ordered Black & Olive - upon their arrival, immediately placed my order for the Walnut & a 2nd Black to shorten. Louis stated in his sneak peak that this dress may not be for everyone - How more up front can a buyer be informed? straight from the designer himself. Have the upmost respect for LDO's integrity. His talents have been dressing my family for 3 generations. He is a honest and good man who knows how to bring great designs in classic American sportswear with impeccable tailoring.

I'm afraid my contributions to this forum are dwindling 'cos of a continuing hostile environment. I love fashion and take pride in how I dress be it job or casual 'cos I care how I look 'cos when I dress good I feel good. No matter how much one feels the need to express their opinion - why bother waist time to say the negative when it serves such a self purpose/agenda?

I shop the Q almost exclusive for Linea. Many other retailers get my money too. . .

NBW, how do you shorten the WK dress? Not knowing how this would work/look has prevented me from ordering the dress.

Hi Sheesh - use my hubby's tailor for structured Linea jackets & such plus a local seamstress who is talented in altering knits. She does excellent work - hope you can find one close to home too? !

NaturalBornWoman, don't you see dwindling is the goal. I love to chat with all the ladies who interact here about the new items coming out; fabrics, what works and doesn't work. I don't think one line of clothing, or one line of cosmetics or one line of shoes has all the styles I want but we know great clothes at unbelievable prices and when we actually can interact with such a talented, well recognized designer this is truly exceptional and will not go on forever. Please do not let the goal be accomplished. More than ever we are reaping the rewards of all the new fabulous creations Louis is now able to bring to us after a hard fight to keep him at QVC. I always look for your name and all the wonderful postings you bring. As Sheesh suggests go through and active the ignore button. I only shop for Linea on the Q also. I think there are many of us who don't stray outside of Linea on QVC.Smile

Re: Review: Whisper Knit Dress

Thanks Chi-town girl. Honestly I don't take anything personally around here. Funny thing is that I did not say anything negative about Louis or the dress. As a matter of fact I said it was beautiful but that the suggestion of sizing up did not work for me and I feared my normal size may be a bit tight. That's it! Hardly reason to jump on me but... This is very much why so few now visit this board. The defensive nature of some fans is beyond ridiculous! 1 friend loved her dress and it fit her beautifully, the other 2 sent their dresses back (in multiples) as did I. I also believe that Louis stated many times that a return for a different size is still considered a return and counts against the item.

Thanks, kiddo, I have never shortened a WK, but I have some WK skirts that I'd actually like a little shorter---how do they look hemmed? That's my fear, and that was my issue with the WK dress---too long for this just under 5"4" now and still shrinking....I really think I need a WK dress in Black....I think I'll start with a Medium---I'm a Small on top, but Medium on bottom.

Re: Review: Whisper Knit Dress

All I can say is WOW!!! I just tried on my WK dress before going to my weigh-in. I was pretty much holding my breath and bracing for the worst. The dress looked amazing. No lumps or bumps and form fitting in the waist in a wonderful way. I was expecting it to look shapeless, from what one reviewer said. I am busty, 38 DDD but have lost significant weight this year. I have gone from a Large in Linea to a Small. I judged the clothes at presentations from how beautiful Maria looked. During the last presentation, it was said that she went up to an XL for this dress. I now wear S in WKs so I ordered the Medium. The other issue I have is my 5ft 1 and 1/2inch height. No worries, the length was perfect. It hit just at the knee. I was expecting to wear it only with boots. So all in all, it was quite a big surprise and I am happy. Going back for the olive.
