Restoring Softness to Barefoot Dreams Cardigan?

Has anyone had success restoring the softness and fluffiness to their BD cardigans? Mine are matted down. :-( I washed in cold and hung to dry, and it still matted over time. I have a feeling there's no way to restore it, but I thought I'd ask. I tried googling and came up with nothing.

@JJsMom:I washed I put it in the dryer to completely dry. No problems and comes out fluffy. Maybe you could try that?

I tried drying one of them, but it made it worse.

I own quite a few BFD and never had that problem. If anything, they come out fluffier and softer. I let them air dry and then pop in the dryer on low.

Be sure not to use fabric softener or dryer sheets.

@JJsMom I would contact Barefoot Dreams CS. It could be your water, it could be the type of detergent, it could a combo. I wash mine on gentle in cold with Kirkland liquid detergent and then on low in the dryer. I've noticed that it's softer and fluffier when I do this than if I air dry it on a rack OR do air dry in the dryer; no clue as to why.

Their CS responds quite quickly. Good luck!!

I have different cardigans, and all of them are matted whether I put them in the dryer or not. I never use softener.

I'll try contacting them. Thanks!

I never use softener. It must be my water or detergent, since no one else has this problem!

You might try adding a cup of white vinegar to the water to see it this helps

Try washing without laundry detergent & put about a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle to see if that helps. Dry on lower heat.

Vinegar should help remove the detergent build up so may have to do it a few times. If that helps use less detergent when washing plus use some vinegar in your softener dispenser.
