That was quite a day, Barbara. I'm happy M is doing better. Can the doctor or your doctor convince the insurance company that sending V home at this point would be too difficult for you?

The new floor is down on the back porch along with boards on the base facing the back yard. Still needed are the composite wood on the steps and the boards at the base on the driveway side. Other than that the composite wood for the front porch is all that is needed.

Linda, your trip sounds very nice. I hope your weather is good. It drizzled throughout the day here.

Linda, I forgot to mention that Zion was my favorite of the various parks we visited.

Glad M was able to get the medication that she needs, Barbara.  Really hope things work out with V.  Also hope you are able to return to AZ sooner than the new year.

Wonderful progress with the construction, Claudia.  Belated happy birthday to R.

I enjoyed Zion today, and went on 1 1/2 hikes.  The first hike was with several others, including one of the leaders.  She at at least one other person complimented me on my hiking.  That was certainly a highlight.  It was very chilly and a bit windy when we started, but pretty hot when another lady and I started on the second hike.  She was getting too hot -- me as well, but not as badly -- so we cut the second hike short.  They had box lunches that were okay, and supposed to be tailored to us.  So, mine was vegetarian.  She has lots of dietary restrictions, and decided she could not eat the bread -- gluten free, but had some seeds that she didn't want t eat.  I have never heard of some of these dietary restrictions, but I guess the scientists are finding more and more about what causes problems,  

Not sure if I mentioned it, but I fell out of bed last night -- around 2:30 am,  Not injured, but I got very little sleep after that. I always sleep toward the edge of the bed, but never fell out before.  Anyway, after lunch we drove through the park and on to where we are now (near Bryce Canyon).  I had a lot of trouble staying awake despite the nice scenery.  Oh well.

This hotel is nicer than the other, but we are not spending much time here -- arrived around 5 pm and are leaving tomorrow morning.  It is much cooler here, so I will definitely wear my light fleece jacket in the morning.

I am back from visiting v and attempting to eat something..lol Hedid very well today. He sat and stood several times and even got on a scale to be weighed. As i thought he has lost a lot of weight.

I am doing ok..tomorrow is the care meeting so will see what happens with that.

Linda..I am so glad that you are enjoying your trip. The area you are visiting is gorgeous. Yikes about falling out of bed..I am glad you were not hurt.I sleep in the middle of my side of the bed. 

Claudi..hope the porch is progressing. I assume r has not done any toothpick shooting.

it is getting chilly here..o ordered another sweater that I an wear in Az.

I was thinking just the other day that V had probably lost quite a bit of weight, Barbara. When R had his horrible lung infection he lost 30 pounds but gained it all back once he recovered. i hope the care meeting goes well tomorrow. No more toothpick shooting.

Today he had an appointment with his VA doctor. I asked and found she was not leaving. R had faulty information and it was someone else. Pt is being ordered for his left thigh/hip. We'll see if that helps. We stopped at his urologist's office and got a copy of the notes that he is Lupron for life or as long as it keeps working. I hope that's sufficient for the VA review.

The back porch and steps are almost finished. It will be on to the front porch. I'm looking for some seating for the porch and leaning towards a couple chairs that are cushioned and swivel. I also want to find an outdoor area rug.

Linda, I sleep on the edge of the bed too. I'm glad you weren't hurt.

It was chilly here too. 58-60°. I think it will be the same tomorrow.

I am trying to use my phone since I can't connect my iPad. Like Claudia, I am not surprised about V's weight loss, Barbara. Hope things go okay tomorrow. It was only 35 degrees this morning, but warmed up nicely. We went to Bryce Canyon today and a couple other parks. I really loved Bryce. I took the easy hike, and it was beautiful.

Glad R's doctor isn't leaving, and the back porch is almost finished, Claudia.

This morning I tried adding one letter to the password, and managed to get into the internet.  The card they provided was faded at the end, so I didn't see the final letter.  Yikes!  I have never used the phone to post before, and it was not fun.

Hope R's PT helps, Claudia.  Very glad V was so much better yesterday, Barbara.  I would need lots of sweaters if I were in MN. The other lady from Arizona and I agreed that after living in Arizona for a while, you have more and more trouble with colder weather.

I have a bit of a headache, but I think that I will be fine after coffee.  If not, I will take a Tylenol or whatever.

After hearing stories about my fellow AZ participant's travel to Africa, I know that I am not at all ready for overseas travel at this time.  All the COVID tests alone would be way too much.

Happy Friday...we had a conference with vs pt people who made it clear that he is not ready to go home and be safe.

I believe that the social worker here is a complete loss. 
it is a wait and see game until insurance decides.,I have also been told that appeals always go through.

Gotta love the stress.

Linda, do you receive lectures on this trip and/ or do you have guides?.. I am wondering where you will go next on this journey ?.

Claudia..hope construction is progressing . Glad rs dr is not leaving.

I scheduled my vaccine booster shot and flu shot next Thursday. I think I may have already mentioned that

It is quite chilly today...this time of year is a real roller coaster for temps.

Posting using a phone is not easy. R does it all the time though. I'm glad you were able to finally get on the internet, Linda.

Barbara, the waiting is difficult. Fingers crossed it all turns out well. Good that the pt people are in your corner. It's a shame you have to jump through hoops so to speak in order to get the right decision.

Construction is finished! He even did a few extra things. The composite boards left over will be used next spring to replace the small porch off the back room. We haven't used it since Adam moved. The inside entrance area doubles as a small closet. I didn't have it done now as I didn't know if the cost for the roof and the 2 other porches would increase. The wood isn't in bad shape but I'd rather have it done now than later.

Tomorrow we pick up the dogs one at a time. Griffyn insists on climbing over us to get out the door first so he can scout for danger. I wasn't able to get them groomed today so have it scheduled for next week. The groomer had something come up and couldn't groom them today. I think we'll take Griffyn home first and then go back for our  furry drama queen.

R drove down to the range to test fire and had quite a trip. First his cell phone flew out of the Weather Tech holder and under the seat. Then when he put it back in the holder the phone's protective cover came off. As he got to the small town near where the range was the road was closed due to an accident. While detouring around it he had to stop for construction. As he neared his destination there was a dead skunk in the middle of the road. When he got to the road to the range his buddy had forgotten to unlock the gate. Sure glad I wasn't there to hear what he had to say.

I'm feeling somewhat poor after paying the final amount for the porches, mailing out the property tax payment, and ordering the 2 chairs for the back porch. A small table and outdoor rug will have to wait.

It was chilly here today too.

Sorry about the social worker, Barbara.  I thought the hospice social worker was useless, but I know some are wonderful.  Fingers crossed about the insurance.  You certainly don't need any more stress.  Glad you are getting the booster shot.  I read that my county is going to announce more about the booster shots, but only immunocompromised people can get them now.  I probably mentioned that Bev got hers before she started her radiation treatments.  I'm not in a rush since I only had my second shot in April.

Hope all is going well with the porch, you, R, and your fur babies, Claudia.

We had a couple "classroom" style lectures at the beginning, Barbara.  But, now the main leader and the geologist/archaeologist talk on the bus and when we take our walks/hikes.  Today, we went to a park I can't remember, and walked in the wash for a while.  Getting over the rocks wasn't too easy.  We had a picnic (box) lunch and went to Capital Reef National Park.  And, then looked at some more rock art.  

We got back to the hotel fairly early, and I walked up into "town" -- very small town.  Just about a mile each way, and for part a very nice path.  But, then I had to walk in the weeds for a while.  I went to the General Store, but didn't buy anything.  On the way back, I saw a "Mom and Pop" hamburger joint that sold ice cream, and had a small cone sitting at a table outdoors.

It was only in the 30's again this morning, but warmed up into the 70's.

We will be going to a different restaurant for dinner tonight, and tomorrow leave to go to the John Westley Powell Museum, Dead Horse State Park, Canyonland's National Park, and end up in Moab for two nights.  We are going to Arches National Park early on Sunday.

I am really enjoying some of my fellow travelers, including one who is visiting her sister in my town in April.  We may get together for coffee or something.

ETA -- great news about the construction, Claudia.  It is always sobering when you write out those big checks.  You know that you will be doing it, but somehow that really has a big impact.  R had a crazy day.  Not sure if I have mentioned DD's first job yesterday -- talk about crazy.  Fortunately, she got everything done, and I can't imagine that any future assignment will be as challenging.  Among the highlights, the client had a stroke and took a full minute to sign his name.  And, he had to sign it a lot.  The process took at least three hours, and they were in a convenience store parking lot.  The man and his female friend were staying in a campground, and he decided to refinance his house in the midst of a cross-country road trip.  It was wild.  But, I am proud of her getting through the process successfully.
