Reformed Shopaholics week of September. 19

Good afternoon..it is one of the last days of summer..a high of 92 today. On Tuesday, it will be in the low 60s. I love this time of year.

I am going to watch the Vikings game with V. I left my knitting in the car so I may wander out and get it.

I convinced m to let me help her clean...I even enlisted Syd to do some vacuuming.  M has allowed her to Do Nothing. 🤨🤨

Hope everyone is having a pleasant day. 🌻🌻

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of September. 19

Good Afternoon/Evening and thanks for getting us started, Barbara.  Hope you and V enjoy the game and you get some knitting done. Sorry he can't have any therapy over the weekend.

Glad M let you clean, and Syd helped.  I have been reading Jacqueline Winspear's (author of the Maisie Dobb's series of novels) memoir, and feeling like I had it very easy growing up.  I did have chores and needed to help with housecleaning, etc., but nothing like what she had to do.  She grew up in post-war England and was put to work at a very young age.  Very different there than here in the U.S. -- at least for her family.

Sorry about Toby, Claudia.  Hope you got some rest last night, and things are okay with R, Toby, and all your furbabies.  Also hope you are feeling okay.

Church was on-line, but they said in October they will start in-person church -- outdoors on the patio, and two services.  I think you will probably need tickets because seating will be limited.  Not sure if I will go or not, but probably will do so.

The gym was not very crowded, but I ended up wearing my mask after more people arrived and were a bit too close for comfort.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of September. 19

Today was warm and sunny. We drove about 15 miles and had brunch at an old inn. I splurged and had a morning mimosa with my crepes. R settled for a 3 egg omelet and French toast.

I emptied the potted plants that were finished for the year, weeded by the garage, and got the garbage out.

Tomorrow I'll check on Toby. The vet doesn't get in until 10 am so I'll wait till then to try to get through.

R tried his porch walking one more time and I really told him off. Smh.  Also caught him with a 2" bow using a toothpick as an arrow to try to catch flies.  That got confiscated quickly. You don't try that in a small kitchen when I'm getting supper ready.

I hope you enjoyed the game, Barbara.

To this day, I hate washing dishes, Linda. I was the lucky (not) person to wash supper dishes for 6 people. I'm glad you got Sydnie to help.

It's good the gym wasn't terribly crowded today.

Our next project (I hope) will be either trimming the tree out front or having it cut down. I've been looking for someone who will do that. It's a big tree so well probably be pricey.

I hope you have good evening.

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of September. 19

Good afternoon...I am with v . he had one good and one not so good pt session. But with nothing over the weekend that is not surprising.

The high humidity and rain made e pretty immobile this morning. I had to get the oil changed , make a band deposit and pickup more groceries. That was not a good combo...but I have been sitting with my feet up and feel much better.

Our friends from Az are flying to Wisconsin for a wedding and are going to come out to see v. I am making breakfast for them.

Claudia..r surely does keep you hopping. I can only imagine shooting flies with toothpicks and a tiny bow. Lol Hope Toby cat is doing better.

Linda..wonder if you left for your trip today???

Have a good evening. 😴😴

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of September. 19

I still hate washing dishes, Claudia.  That is why I insisted we get one when we moved here.  Now that I live alone, there really are not that many, but I just accumulate them until there are enough -- usuallly every three days.

Between the weather and all your activities, it sounds like you overdid it today, Barbara.  Glad V had one good session at least and your friends will be visiting.

Yes, I am on my trip.  I always hesitate to say much for security reasons, but....  Things didn't start well since my shuttle service didn't arrive on time.  I gave them 10 minutes and called.  He had me down for tomorrow morning -- yikes.  Fortunately, he lives close by, and I wasn't late getting to the airport.  I was surprised that they would not take cash when I bought a cup of coffee.  I'm not used to paying by card for small amounts.  The fight was a bit delayed in taking off due to lots of traffic in Vegas.  But, we were only 20 minutes late. The plane was pretty full, but everyone behaved well, and wore their masks.  I had a little trouble finding the pick-up place for the shuttle, but it was great --very comfortable, and only five of us.

I didn't realize that there would be no TV in the room, and the internet doesn't work there.  Obviously very spoiled.  Fortunately, we will have those in other lodgings, and we will only be here for three nights total (two at the beginning and two at the end.).

I think I'll have fun, and it is nice being in a place with regular trees, etc.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Yikes. It's a good thing the shuttle service was close by, Linda. I'm glad your flight was good. The accommodations were certainly a surprise. Enjoy the trip. I bet it's nice seeing the trees.

Barbara, that's wonderful your AZ friends will be stopping by. That should cheer V up. I hope tomorrow's pt goes well for both sessions. Try not to overdo.

I talked with Adam last night. Things are busy with work. Our former SIL has 3 dogs and the automatic feeder is outside. Adam noted they were going through a huge quantity of dog food so they put up trail cameras and discovered a pack of raccoons were eating very well.

I was able to pick Toby up late afternoon. He was eating and able to move about after having medication to get rid of any blood clots and getting rehydrated. On the way home he complained loudly about the accomodations.. First thing home he headed for his favorite water dish.

I took R out for breakfast and dinner for his birthday. The contractor should be here early tomorrow morning.

Have a good sleep.

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of September. 19

The composite wood was delivered today. What a relief. My biggest worry was that it would not arrive on time. Half of the back porch flooring is down. Rain is in our forecast so I'm not sure it will be finished by the weekend. Fingers crossed. Linda, I hope you're enjoying your tour and the weather is good. I hope V had a good day and you are feeling better, Barbara.

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of September. 19

Thank goodness the wood arrived, Claudia.  Hope rain doesn't cause problems.  Glad your ex SIL figured out why so much dog food was being eaten.

The weather has been nice.  I figured out how to get the internet in my room last night.  But, it is a bit tricky.  Today's issue was the lack of hot water when I took my shower.  Turned out that was true of the whole building.  Of course, it was fixed by the time we had breakfast.  The breakfast was great -- tons of selections.  The same was true of lunch, and dinner wasn't small either.  I may gain some weight on this trip, especially since I am not doing nearly as much walking or other exercising.  I'm not complaining.  It is good for me.

Not many single ladies on this trip, but one is from Arizona (Gilbert), and we have had some interesting conversations.  In June (I think), she went on an African safari for two weeks or so -- flew in "bush planes", had multiple COVID tests, etc., etc.  Her brother (11 years younger) went with her, and it was very expensive.  However, she really enjoyed it.  She loves traveling.

Some of the married couples are also very friendly, and one set is from MN.  They have been going to Mexico in the winters (pre-

COVID) and plan to go in January (depending on how things are going).

Today we went for a short hike/walk in a beautiful State park, then to see some petroglyphs (not was impressive as some in my area), and a "desert garden" area (again, not quite as nice as some near me, but others were impressed).  Tomorrow should be nice Zion park being the highlight.

Hope you and V are doing okay Barbara.

Have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of September. 19

Happy First day of Fall...it is quite like it here..a nice, coolish day. I even put on a sweater.

I did not post yesterday..too much going on..m was having a complete meltdown.  Yike..she and I had a video call with her dr and he is going to change her meds. She is back to her normal.

Now it appears that insurance may want to send v home for me to care for him.. Nthing is for sure but since he is making prgress now, I am hoping it will work out . Pt thinks he needs another month. And we may not get to Az until the new year. Arghhh.

this all makes my head hurt.

Lunda..I am sure that you are having a wonderful time. The area you are in is so pretty. Sounds as if your travel companions are nice. enjoy
