Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

Happy Sunday. I had a spurt of energy so I went to the grocery store in person to get food for the rest of the time we are here. Most people had on masks. I had soaked the oven racks overnight so they were very easy to clean. My project for the afternoon is to finish winding a currently messy ball of yarn.

A week from now we will be on the road. We have a long day on Sunday but it is a pretty ride through some gorgeous rock formations. Monday is about 4 hours to our resort.

the front door is still sticking so v is going to try to sand it more. I told him that I have to be here when he does it. Yikes

it is a pretty day again..highs in the midv80s.

Hope yours is going well. 😎😎💕💕

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

Good Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Barbara.  Our weather is nice as well.  Glad you felt well enough to go to the grocery store.  Where is the resort you are visiting?  Hope you enjoy the trip.  Also hope V is successful with the door.

Good that most people had on masks at the store.  My church is moving to indoor services in June, and they said masks will be required.  We will also need to make reservations.  Even today when services were out on the patio, they took our temperatures and we wore masks.  I know that many people go away during the summer months, so crowding may not be an issue.

Hope you, R, and your furbabies are doing okay Claudia and both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. On my Italy trip in 2019, I had taken a cable car up to the top of a mountain near a lake in Northern Italy, so I was shaken by the accident that happened there.  Not that it makes any difference, but while I visited that lake, I didn't take the cable car there.  Different lake,  What a nightmare.

Linda, we are going to one of our timeshares in thecRocky Mts for 5 days. We will, then take a couple of days to get to v3s . We will spend 2 days there and be back at Ms on the 8th.

I made hotel, reservations earlier because a lot of places are booking up.

I have fear of any kind of gondola car so avoid them . That was a tragedy in Italy.

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

The cable car accident is terrible, Linda. I do not do well at heights. Never would I get on one of those.

I woke up hurting today and remembered the Marine Corps League building is on a cement slab. No wonder I hurt. R went to the muzzleloader range to test fire. He took his earplugs but forgot to wear them. Smh. I have to shout when talking to him. Fingers crossed it's temporary.

Today was sunny and in the mid 80's. I mowed out back plus pulled weeds while R was gone. Now I'm paying for it. I knew it would rain though so pushed myself. I did have some help putting out the garbage. Tomorrow hopefully will be a low-key day. I plan not to do a lot.

One of my pansy pots has the pansies partially flattened. I have suspicions that Jinx has been sitting in it.

I wonder if rubbing soap where the door sticks would help, Barbara. How nice that you'll have that 5 day stay on your trip.

Have a good evening.

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

good afternoon. I had physical therapy this morning and then stopped at Target to get prescriptions. I treated myself to a sandwich from Chick Fil A. That is my sandwich of choice.,

Most people in Target wore masks.

I am putting potential clothes in the guest br. I ordered the tsv..I love barefoot dreams and need to replace a lightweight sweater. I also ordered a summer sweater from isaacs line . Obviously, I will not keep both.

M changed to her new position today, She has been working late into the night and her new director told her she is only to workm8 hours a day.,Shecwas ms boss when she first joined the company and has wanted to get m back on one of her teams.M said she feels as if a weight has been lifted

LindA, I mentioned that we are going to one of ourvresorts in the Rocky Mountains...we will be at 8000 Ft. we will be back in m on June 8.
Your geology class sounds intersting. We will be in the 100s later in the week.

Laudia..hope yiu are better today. All of my schools had concrete floors..owie. Claudia..it is a big stick..the paint was applied too thickly and one corner needs to be sanded more. Arghh

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

Hope you felt better today, Claudia.  I never worried about hard floors, etc., when I was young.  But, now I can feel the difference.  Most of the house is tile, so I wear shoes and/or sandals with padding.

So glad M has moved to her new position, Barbara.  Maybe the reduced stress will help her feel more comfortable in the "new" house, etc.

Glad you had PT and a nice lunch.  I don't think there are any of those restaurants nearby, but I used to eat at one near DD when I visited.

Your trip sounds nice.  Hope one of the new sweaters works out for you.  I have no need for additional sweaters for sure.  A few years ago, I purchased several "shrug" type summer sweaters (mostly very inexpensive) which I wear over sleeveless dresses and tops.  The white one could be replaced, but the others still look like new.

At the last minute, Bev has decided against having chemo.  She told me on Friday that her oncologist discouraged the idea of surgery proposed for the surgeon (after chemo shrunk the tumor on her kidney).  He told her that it was likely the cancer would just move elsewhere even if the kidney was removed.  Anyway, she lost a lot of sleep over the decision, but is at peace with it now.

DD was thrilled to hear from her contractor that they will start work on Wednesday.  She said that she is planning to have middle DGS and his GF for Memorial Day (grilling), and was happily studying her interior decorating.

I so enjoy my Hinduism class.  Difficult concepts, but wonderful teacher.

The air purifier in the bedroom really seems to be helping, so I decided to order one for the living room/dining room.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

What a relief for M, Barbara. I hope you enjoy your new sweater - whichever one you choose.

Today ended up much busier than planned.I tried to watch Jamie's awards ceremony but the link wasn't working. My plan is to go to bed shortly.

Our nearest Chick Fil A is over 60 miles away.

I'm glad your friend Bev is at peace with her decision, Linda. It's a hard decision. As I recall my sister didn't need chemo but they removed the kidney. If not for the aneurysm they wouldn't have found the cancer.

R's hearing has improved a bit overnight. Maybe tomorrow we can go through his tee shirts. He has way too many.

Have a good evening.

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Glad R's hearing seems to be back okay, Claudia.  Sorry you missed the awards ceremony.  Perhaps the link will work today.

DGD needed a new mask for her breathing machine which she picked up today.  DD sent me a message this morning before she went to urgent care for a rash that she feared might be shingles.  Turned out to be poison ivy, thank goodness.

Oldest DGS' check engine light came on, and he found that mice had been in the car again.   Fortunately, the shop was able to repair the car, and he will be able to drive to a "problem" store in Vermont for a few days.  He was going to ask his boss for a rental if the car wasn't working.

DD is quite excited since she and my SIL will be going out for dinner for the first time since the lockdown.  Apparently, the restaurant has very good seafood which they both enjoy.  After dinner, they have been invited to see middle DGS' new apartment.

Hope your day has been going okay, Barbara.  Sorry you have had so much trouble with the door.

The water company was busy digging up and working on my next door neighbor's water connection.  Hope that this was their issue and not something she needed to pay for like when we had the big leak due to old water pipes.

Quiet day here, which is fine.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

Good afternoon...It is hot today...I stopped by the pool yesterday and I was astonished at how crowded it was. This is not a large pool..It can nicely hold 15 people. But there were twice as many. Yikes.

I have been doing little things to get ready...I think I have cut my clothes by a third. V has been working on getting the Az room ready...we have to move things away from the screen windows because of the monsoon rains.

Linda, glad dd did not have shingles.poor dgs with his mice problem. I think there is some kind of deterrent to keep them out of the engine area.

it took a lot of courage for Bev to make her decision. My friend s husband who died 2 years ago, finally quit chemo . He was tired of the side effects.brave lsdy

Claudia. Glad rs hearing is better..v is getting worse and does not wear his hearing aids very often.Hope you had a good day.

Sleep well. The lunar eclipse is at 4 this morning. I am not getting up for it. Lol. 😎😎

Re: Reformed Shopaholics week of May 23

I didn't know about the lunar eclipse till you mentioned it, Barbara. I'm not getting up either. R's hearing isn't quite back to his "normal". He quit wearing his hearing aids. The specialist had told him it would only help slightly and he was right. R decided it wasn't worth it.

Another hot day here. Too much to do. I went through R's tee shirts. Took one bag of donations to Goodwill.  I have another partial bag. There are 3 bins of cold weather clothes to go to the attic. One bin of tee shirts to carry down and sort. There's progress even though it doesn't look it yet in the back room.

The trips to the attic will have to wait till morning. My get up and go has left.

Before we knew about shingles who would have thought we'd be relieved to find a rash was " just poison ivy". I hope your DD and SIL enjoy their dinner, Linda.

That is a shame eldest DGS' car was damaged.

No real surprise to me - we just heard R's Marine Corps reunion  in CA has been cancelled.

My bf from grade school called to see if she could borrow the walker again for her mom. Her mom fell a couple times. Luckily she didn't break anything but is bruised. I dropped the walker off just as the home care worker arrived. It was less than a mile from our house and I couldn't see waiting till Thursday morning when Bev was coming into town.
