My husband tried on a pair of pants he got for Christmas.

He got a pair of "Tech Fleece Pant" from Sam's Club for Christmas. And since we are to get snow today he decided to try them on. He figured that when he has to shovel snow rather than wearing sweat pants that would soak up moisture from the snow, he would wear a fabric that wasn't so apt to soak up moisture. He was so impressed how nice the pants were. A deep zippered pocket, nice comfortable waistband, fabric soft and comfortable, He was so impressed that he kept the labels, in hope of finding more of the same pants.

I was looking at the label, it stated 50% recycled polyester. I never heard of recycled polyester before. Wonder how they got the fabric to recycle.

Is it over run of fabric that was not enough to use in making product or left overs from cutting out patterns?

Recycled poly isn't all it's made out to be. It, too, has negative affects on the environment. The recycling process leaves a carbon footprint along with toxic chemicals and microplastics.

Most recycled poly fabric comes from plastic bottles.

It is "end of bolt"....or the garment manufacturer just bought too much...(not scraps)

@drizzellla "Recycled polyester or 'rPET' is created either mechanically or chemically by collecting PET, usually in the form of used plastic bottles, and sorting, washing and breaking the material down to be spun into yarn that can be adapted to include performance technologies like moisture-wicking and temperature regulation."

They have been recycling vehicle motor oil, made from the same componets, for decades!

Petroleum never breaks down or disentigrates!
