Re: REFORMED Shopaholics Thanksgiving week

Do you drink a lot of tea leaves/loose tea rather than tea bags, Claudia?  I know that real tea experts scoff at tea bags.  I have some loose tea, but I usually opt for the ease of tea bags instead.  I do have a tea pot with an infuser for brewing which I like.

R drinks more loose tea than I do. We have some from Charleston Tea Plantation.

Re: REFORMED Shopaholics Thanksgiving week

Good afternoon. V had his trigger point injections and is not happy at the moment. But they take a few days to make a difference.

my turkey is not completely thawed after 3 days in the fridge, so it is soaking in the sink. As I said , we are having a pretty easy dinner.

Linda, after homeschooling Syd when she was in LA, and I am an educator, I have great admiration for what your dd did. That is more than a full time job. Glad you got your hospice stuff done and you are going out with Bev.. what did you cook ??

Claudia, yikes on the long drive for a short appointment. It has been quite a adjustment to have v as dependent on me as he is. But I am managing.

Have a good rest of the day l🦃🦃🦃🦃💖

Re: REFORMED Shopaholics Thanksgiving week

Thanks for the information about the tea, Claudia.  Like clothes and shoes, I have too much tea.  But, I am always interested in trying new types.

Sorry V isn't happy about his injections.  I am sure your dinner will be nice.  So far, I have just made cranberry sauce, apple crisp (my version that isn't very crispy), pumpkin pie filling (I don't really care for the crust), and some pumpkin bread with cranberries and walnuts.  I also baked a yam, which I will do something with for tomorrow.  My main course will be some vegan filled pasta.  I considered making my own, but decided it wasn't worth all the trouble.  I will do the vegetables tomorrow.  Given that I am the only one eating, I will probably split up these things in different meals.

I know that I would have had major trouble with homeschooling.  Not just because I lacked the training, but DD never seemed to respond that well to me compared to others.  I remember spending a lot of time trying to help her read with no luck.  One day, she suddenly started reading a book out loud.  Montessori pre-school and kindergarten was great for her.

She is in contact with others who do the same sort of work, and told me a horrifying story about one of her friends.  She was in a home doing the signing, and the husband was harassing the wife, which made things impossible.  She told them that she could not continue with the signing if the commotion continued, and the husband hit her in the face.  She left and called the police, but her husband decided she needs to give up that sort of work.

I also received a disturbing email from the pastor of my church.  There have been some incidents with outsiders threatening the pastor and others, so they have decided to hire security during the services.  Last week when I came back to my car, a police car was parked next to me.  I waved at the officer and he waved back.  I did wonder why he was there -- now I know.  Yikes!

My hospice deliveries, etc. went well except I was missing one letter and booklet (just had a label).  Don't know why that happened, and I sure hope I didn't put two letters in one envelop by mistake.  I don't think it is likely, but....  One lady invited me to come to dinner at their house, which I thought was very nice.

We had a few sprinkles today, and it turned cooler.  Still pretty warm for November -- even for Arizona.

Hope both of you and your husbands sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED Shopaholics Thanksgiving week

I hope the injections help V, Barbara. it will take time to fully recover after being so ill. Enjoy your dinner. We will go to Bob Evans. R plans to have me drive him to his buddy's mid afternoon so I can be home before dark.

We got up to the urology appointment only to find it rescheduled for 12/27. They say they called but they never spoke to me and if they spoke to R he forgot. I'm not happy that an appointment that originally was mid October has been rescheduled twice. He had lab work in early October and I asked if he needed it again. The receptionist didn't know and I'm waiting for her to get back to me.

Linda, that's terrible. It's good your DD will no longer do signings. I think it's too risky outside of an office especially when its situations such as the one DH's friend described.

That certainly is a disturbing e-mail. I'm glad your pastor was proactive and hired security.

R's packed gear is all over the downstairs. I'll worry about any cleaning tomorrow.

Re: REFORMED Shopaholics Thanksgiving week

What a bummer about that appointment, Claudia.  Like you, I would be upset that they have delayed the scope twice.

DD and her friend agreed that signings in a real estate or lawyer's office are much better and safer.  Many people seem to act differently when they are in an office rather than their home.

Re: REFORMED Shopaholics Thanksgiving week

Happy Thanksgiving ! I have my alarm set to put the turkey  in. Syd is watching the dog show.and v has football on his iPad.

Linda, your food sounds very good...I would enjoy tasting it. My former neighbor home schooled her 3 boys and mentioned to me how difficult it was with her oldest son

i am not doing any shopping tomorrow...I need to find a few small items for the kids, but that will be through Amazon.

Claudia..that is terrible about rs appointment being rescheduled.I have my number for all of vs doctors.

Have a happy Thanksgiving. As I have said I have much for which to be thankful. 🦃🦃🦃💖💖

Re: REFORMED Shopaholics Thanksgiving week

Good Afternoon and Happy Thanksgiving.  There are so many things for me to be thankful for, and your friendship is right up there.  I am very happy we are able to keep in touch.  Gives me a chance to vent and get feedback on many things, which is much needed.

I may try to do some grocery shopping tomorrow.  Don't need much except for fresh vegetables, etc.  Worse comes to worse, I can do the shopping on Sunday or Monday.  Very happy to hear from DD and family today.  She was expecting a call from oldest DGS and his wife later this afternoon.

After all the tea discussion, I decided to look at the tea I have in the cabinet.  Yikes!  Some was years old.  Anyway, I was happy to get rid of the old stuff, and now have more cabinet space.  I promised myself that I will look at what I have before buying more or new varieties of tea.  Another weakness.

Hope you and R had/have a nice meal, Claudia.  Also hope you got R to his buddies house before dark.

Have a nice evening and sleep well.  .

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED Shopaholics Thanksgiving week

R has been dropped off at his buddy's and they are heading up to camp. His buddy and his brother own the large hill behind their houses and the camp is up there in the woods. R isn't feeling the greatest. His gastro problems are flaring up. It's raining here and in the 40's.

Tomorrow I will be calling our vet first thing. Young Widget is a bit lethargic and her gums are pale. It never fails on a holiday or weekend R or one of the animals is ill. I hope to get in early in the day. Fingers crossed.

I will try to call Adam this evening.

I'm glad you had a call from DD and family, Linda. It brightens the day. Our loose tea isn't real old. I reordered just a couple months  ago. It's easy to lose track though. I know when the kitchen was remodeled we emptied the cupboards and found some we had forgotten.

Yes, lots of things to be thankful for this year. We are fortunate to be able to keep in touch. V's recovery is certainly a blessing,  Barbara.

Crumbs, winter weather advisory now from 1 am Friday into Saturday. Good thing I put the windshield cover on.

Have a good evening.
