Re: REFORMED. SHoPAHOLICS. Week of November 28

Good Evening!  Glad R is better, Claudia.  Hope he takes care of the deer and Nugget improves.  You definitely deserve some rest -- you as well, Barbara.  Our weather is good -- warmer in the mornings and mid-upper 70's.  Somehow the house retains the cold, but I have plenty of layering items plus things to wear on my walks. I heard on the news that Tucson weather is around 10 degrees higher than normal this time of the year.  It is cooler here, but still nice.  No rain, which isn't good, but happy to be warm.

I imagine it will take a while for V to organize all those papers, Barbara.  Glad Syd took to skiing so well.

I think DGS has asked his gf to marry him several times, and even gave her (or attempted to give her) a ring.  Not sure if he will ask again at Christmas.  I found out that oldest DGS and his wife will be coming down for Christmas, and staying with DD.  They visit a lot with friends, so DD said she probably won't see that much of them, but I know she is happy they are coming.

Walmart was busy today, and my pick up for the hospice caregiver was a bit delayed.  When I went there, no one answered the call.  I left a message, but called a second time.  When I delivered the groceries, the caregiver asked if I sat with people.  I said that I did, but not as much as pre-COVID.  Long story short, she needs someone Thursday afternoons (I'm busy with my deliveries), and she wants someone who only would visit her sister (patient).  Her sister is very fragile and cannot be vaccinated.  Anyway, I am not a good candidate, but I let the hospice coordinator know.

My caregiver relief visit this afternoon went well, but I found out that the caregiver (I know her and her husband from the senior lunch program) has macular degeneration.  She just found out that her other eye has the bad sort (not sure if it is wet or dry).  So, now she needs to go back to her specialist.  We chatted a bit, and she said she would take me for my cataract surgery if everything worked out.  That was very sweet of her.

We have a volunteer organization that gives rides here, Barbara.  But, they have many more demands than what they can fulfil.  Most of my friends are even older than me, but I think I could ask around when it is necessary for me to have the surgery.  Just not rushing into it before I really need to do so.

I have had some of the recurring symptoms -- back and front aches the past few days, so I'm not my usual Energizer bunny either.  So far, it isn't horrible, just a bothersome. I did take my walk and go to the gym today.  Trying to use the heating pad a bit at night and do some exercises for my back.  Nothing like the pain you two have had, so I feel guilty even mentioning it.

Hope both of you and your husbands sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED. SHoPAHOLICS. Week of November 28

Good afternoon..I did what I thought was going to be a quick grocery run. It turned out that they had several items on sale, so I ended up spending twice as much. Lol

and I used my reusable bags and filled them so they were really heavy. Not my brightest move..😜😜

So I am not doing a lot more today.

Linda..glad someone volunteered to help you with your potential cataract surgery. I think you were smart to turn down helping that lady. Interesting about dgs and his Gf.I am sure your dd will enjoy her visitors.

Claudia, I think you deserve a day of rest....I think I mentioned how late I have been sleeping in the a.m. Glad r is feeling better.

My entire family is coming here for our Xmas celbration.it will be fun to get everyone together.

Enjoy your day.🐸🐸

Re: REFORMED. SHoPAHOLICS. Week of November 28

Sorry about those heavy bags, Barbara.  I take mine to Sprouts, and they fill them.  Unfortunately, some clerks totally overfill them. That tends to be the young men rather than the women.  I bring plenty, but they seem to want to shove as much as possible into as few bags as possible.  I do not do my own bagging since I know I am very slow, and it would really annoy the people behind me.  So, I give you a lot of credit for doing it yourself.

That is great news about the whole family getting together there for Christmas.

Hope you, R, and your furbabies are doing okay today, Claudia.  On my walk, a lady who was walking her large dog said that she never barks at other dogs, but does bark at coyotes.  There were quite a few coyotes running around today.

Nothing too exciting going on here.  I have been looking at various financial things -- like the cost of health insurance, etc., next year.  Next week will be the last of the semester OLLI classes, and the new ones will start toward the end of January.  So, I will have some extra time on my hands.  Not a problem.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Re: REFORMED. SHoPAHOLICS. Week of November 28

Thanks, Bernie. I tried letting easy going Fitz in the room with Nugget. All went well till he wandered over where Widget would sleep. All of a sudden Nugget the fierce kept on Fitz's back and started clawing at him. Fitz beat a fast retreat even though he is 3 times Nuggets size. Nugget may be blind but he sensed where Fitz was and didn't like it one bit.

R had his final pt appointment today. That clears the calendar up a bit. First thing tomorrow Griffyn gets groomed and I need to go to the other side of the town to pick up more dog food. There's an interesting estate sale out that way but I'm not sure I have the energy to go.

Barbara, I'm glad your entire family will be down for Christmas. What a joy that will be. I stopped at Aldi's while R had pt. My reusable bag felt heavier than usual. I overloaded it just a bit.

Yard cleanup from the dogs is accomplished. The snow has melted for now.

I need to start wrapping some of Adam's small presents and ship the box out early.  I hear my brother is considering a trip to Croatia next spring. He had planned it for spring 2020 but of course it was cancelled.

If Griffyn had seen coyotes he would do more than bark, Linda. The breed has a strong guardian streak even if untrained. I tell R that Griffyn considers us his sheep. Lol. Have you chosen new OLLI classes yet?

Have a good evening

Interesting about Fitz, Claudia.  The OLLI class offerings have not been announced yet.  Hopefully, fairly soon.  I would like to know my schedule since I am considering a new volunteer opportunity with the local food bank.  I'm getting discouraged about the senior lunch program.

Re: REFORMED. SHoPAHOLICS. Week of November 28

I need to slow down when I read posts Claudia because I missed the fact that little Nugget is blind.  Nugget knew Widget by smell and sound and having lived with cats for a large part of my life, smell is a powerful thing to overcome.  We always had multiple cats and boy when one would go to the vet, the other cats would pick up on the smell and ostracize it for a day or so.

They feel grief like we do.  My birds had seen me take Francis to the vet multiple times so they were used to seeing me putting him in a lined laundry basket.  He would come home so they didn't panic or anything when they saw me spirit him away.  When Francis passed away on Labor Day and I brought him home from the emergency vet, I think I should have let the birds see him.  At the time I was turned inside out by what happened, I kept him downstairs with me.  I tend to transport my pets to their final destination - be it for burial or cremation.  I've used the same place for almost 35 years.

I wasn't thinking clearly and ended up doing my birds a disservice.  They searched for him for over a week and I thought it was going to break me.

All you can do is keep Nugget's routine, continue to love him up and the tincture of time will do the rest. Heart

Re: REFORMED. SHoPAHOLICS. Week of November 28

Good Evening!  As you may see on the other thread, I am still waiting for the hospice supplies to be delivered to the office.  Hopefully, they will be ready for me later today or tomorrow morning.  I am getting my hair cut and colored tomorrow afternoon, and then I have the holiday party.

Hope that Jean's procedure goes well next week.  Sounds scary to me.

I spent at least 30 minutes trying to figure out a charge on my Amazon Visa card.  Turns out to be okay (if weird), but the customer service guy and I had a terrible time understanding one another.  Our connection was bad, and he had quite an accent.  Still don't know why Amazon charged my Kindle in two stages -- one for $2.70 on November 30, and the other for $111.00 or so that is still pending.  But, at least there was no fraud involved.

Between that call and other things I was doing in the morning, I took my walk later than normal, went to the grocery stores later than normal, etc., etc.  Just one of those days.

Hope both of you and your husbands had a nice day and sleep well.

Hugs,

Re: REFORMED. SHoPAHOLICS. Week of November 28

I do hope Jean's procedure goes well, Linda. Also hope the hospice supplies arrive timely. I need to get my hair trimmed again. I should have already scheduled it. I'm glad the Amazon order turned out.

We had a high of 52° today. Griffyn looks gorgeous. They trimmed some of his fur and he looks like a fluffy bear. He was very happy to get home this afternoon.

After I dropped him.off I went to pick up more dog food as we're down to the last bag. They had no large breed in the brand I buy -only grain free which I'm reluctant to buy. I ended up with a bag of regular size dog food. Hope they will get what I usually buy soon.

My youngest sister and I planned to meet for lunch tomorrow but that may not happen. She has 3 meetings she's trying to rearrange. Its difficult to find time since she's working one ft job with lots of meetings and travel and one part time job. Thanks to vivid it's been 2 years even though we're 60 some miles apart.

The Trex table ordered for the back.porch is turning into a problem. They sent it in 2 shipments. The legs arrived but not the table top. Now I have an email that says no.longer available but under orders I see estimated arrival 2/28.

R is limping around. When he wore his hunting boots he didn't realize there was something in the heel of his boot and of course didn't take it off to.investigate. Now his heel is hurting and he's voluntarily using a cane.

Barbara, I hope you and V have had a good day.

Re: REFORMED. SHoPAHOLICS. Week of November 28

Glad Griffyn was so beautiful after his grooming, Claudia.  Hope R isn't limping as badly, and you had a good day.

Sorry you were blocked over something so silly, Barbara.  Hope V does okay next week, and you are not aching too much.

As you may read on the other thread, I was able to do my hospice deliveries this morning, and have my hair cut and foiled this afternoon.  The holiday party was a lot of fun, and the organizers went all out -- china, lovely tablecloths, decorations, games, prizes, etc.  Fortunately, it didn't last until the time they listed (8:00), more like 7:00 p.m.  I was concerned that I would be too tired.  People brought nice food, and it was not difficult to avoid those that had meat.

I decided not to initiate my new Kindle until tomorrow.  The case didn't come yet, but getting my books transferred was easy.

I am still shaking my head about how my Kim Gravel pants made their way to a lady in Michigan instead of her Amazon order.  But, I thought it was very nice of her to send me a letter about it.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda
