REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

Good Morning/Afternoon!  With DST for most of the country, we are three hours behind Q and DD time now.  It has some advantages, and some disadvantages for me in terms of calling DD, etc.

We are having light rain at the moment, and it rained last night as well.  Very gloomy outside, but at least it isn't chilly (currently in the 50's and highs in the 60's expected).

I have nothing excited planned for the day -- church and the gym will be the highlights.

Sure glad I went to Italy in the Fall rather than the spring.  Yikes.  I think the tours were supposed to start again this month or in April, but I'm sure they are questionable at this point.

I have never purchased LOGO, but the TSV appeals to me.  But, I am holding strong against purchasing more clothes or shoes at this point.  I still have way too much.

Glad you were able to get the extension cord to work, Claudia.  A surge protector sounds like a good idea.  I haven't had moussaka for quite a while -- I bet it was delicious.

Hope both of you, your husbands, and furbabies are okay.   Waves to all of our posters and readers.

Have a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

Good morning...I am back from church. We had a great sermon based on the Iditarod race in Alaska. The church put in some new measures like no handshaking or hugging. That is a good idea.

nothing too exciting today...I want to help with the floors but v will not let me.

i told me to remember that there is now a 2 hour difference between us.

linda..I really would not want to travel extensively now...I have a friend who is in Israel right now. Her Dh said he hopes she can get back in the country. I have several logo tops and like them a lot. I have no need for a jean jacket since I bought a new one last year.

Claudia..surge protectors have been a saver for us several times.

have a good day. 🥰🥰

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

Very glad you traveled last fall to Italy, Linda. I think the worst thing to me would be to be stuck overseas for extra days or  even weeks. I always pack an extra week of R's medicines. I guess it's good we aren't taking a trip this year except for R's reunion near DC. Since the hotel is very near Dulles I wanted to fly but it seems if we go R will drive.

It's been a nice sunny day here and 60° after a chilly start this morning. I took 2 bins of heavier winter clothes to the attic, dusted, plus organized necklaces and put clothes away. Yard cleanup is done and the garbage is out. I found Tippy had been busy digging so I have to try to discourage that.

Barbara, I hope your friend gets back in the country with no delays. It's probably good that V said no to you helping with the floors. Maybe in a week. It takes time to figure out how to do things with a cast. Then once the cast comes off it's regaining strength.do

Most of the back room is R's "stuff" and it's everywhere. I do have special items in the barrister bookcases. I have 2 sets of bookends of different Irish musicians playing instruments plus a GGF's nightstick from when he was a constable and various other things. Given the dogs size I did not want the bookcases in the living room.

It's nice that it's 7:30 and not quite dark. I had hoped to sleep in a bit this morning but the cats had different ideas. Food was on their minds. The sooner the better.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

Good afternoon..I just returned from Avery nice massage. I will take Pepper out to the dog park soon so we avoid the nauighty dogs. Nothing else exciting.

i cannot believe how crazed some people are about this virus. Our stores still have a decent supply of things like tp.

linda..I read tour comment in the other post re paper towels..lol. They really are not flushable..my kids tried that when they were pre schoolers and I had to call a plumber.it sounds as if you have had a good day.

Claudia..you were busy yesterday. I have to seriously think about what I have to bring down, if anything.

it is beautiful here. About 75.

enjoy. 😘😘

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

I'm happy to hear the massage helped, Barbara. I hope Pepper enjoyed herself at the dog park.

The only place I went to today besides the bank as Aldi's. They seemed to have a good supply of toilet paper , paper towels, and water. They did not have the sports type water bottles I get for R (so he doesn't spill too much when he suddenly falls asleep and drops it) but they had a good supply of the regular ones. I didn't notice of they had disinfecting wipes.I

It was 70° today! Wonderful.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

Glad both of you had nice weather.  It was nice here as well, but turned a bit windy this afternoon and it may rain tonight and tomorrow.

Good that you had a nice massage, Barbara.  Hopefully, I have enough toilet paper, and I do have some paper napkins that would be easier on the plumbing than paper towels.  I probably should not joke about these things.

I guess our area must have more hoarders than either of yours.  I know there are many sensible people, but enough nervousness that even toilet paper is difficult to find.

I did decide to change my car insurance company.  Not until April, but I'll be saving quite a bit of money.  I really felt that I was being overcharged given my low mileage, good driving record, etc., but I thought my age would make it impossible to do much better.  Think again.  I'll be saving on both home insurance plus car insurance and getting almost the same coverage.

The bookclub meeting went fairly well, but Jo Ann managed to fall on her way in the door.  She didn't notice the step to the back porch where we were meeting.  She didn't seem to be in any pain, and she was helped up, but....  It reinforced to me the need for her to move into the facility.  That probably won't happen until mid-April or so.  Fortunately, her son is coming to help her get things organized.  She is leaving almost all the furniture for the new owner, but I'm sure there is plenty to organize and decide what to move or donate.

I need to write a report for the bookclub, which will take time.  We discussed the book, but also other subjects of interest.  The host's son (age 60) was recently widowed, and has been conducting a long-range romance (via Skype or something similar) with the friend of another member (widow, age 62).  He is flying here to meet her in person, and they are very excited.  If all works well, he may move to our area (from Wisconsin), which would please his mother.

Hope both of you sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. Just received another form from a pipeline company.  I just scanned it and sent it to his children.  Yuck.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

I'm just back from Wal-Mart. Only a few disinfecting wipes and no toilet paper available. Those 2 items weren't on my list but it was strange to see all the empty shelves. Kleenex seemed in short supply too. As far as toilet paper goes I wonder if you could order online, Linda.

We have had State Farm since 1985. Our homeowners and auto insurance are bundled.

I'm glad Jo Ann wasn't hurt by her tumble.

I read in the news about the congregation in DC whose priest thought he had the flu, felt better, and served communion. Now he has the corona virus and the congregation is to quarantine themselves. Yikes. That is where my sister's wife was the rector for a number of years.

It's a rainy day here and not as warm as yesterday.

I wanted to sleep in but Mama Boots perched on my hip and Rusty sat on the nightstand and patted my shoulder.

the house should go up for sale at the end of next week..FINGERS. Crossed all goes well.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

[ Edited ]

I hope all goes well with the house, Barbara.

R's muzzleloader group has a big fundraiser this month. Free dinner and raffles. R said maybe he shouldn't attend. I agreed given his lung problems. There would be lots of people there and a big chance of catching something.

I haven't seen anyone wearing masks here. If I had had time I would have checked Aldi's out of curiosity.

R asked if I was doing the dishes tonight. When I answered I suppose so. He said " don't you want to do the dishes? ". Plain and simple answer "no". I never want to do the dishes. It's just something that has to be done.

We scheduled the car to be checked Thursday. R couldn't get the monitor to display the mph no matter what he did. When I went to Wal-Mart I tried and somehow got it to display. I was going to cancel the appointment but now when we start the car the drivers seat moves forward as much as it can and has to be adjusted back for the proper leg room. I've read the manual and tried to set up memory for driver #1 but no luck. It looks like we'll keep the appointment.

My mistake. I see it's the Georgetown church by the same name. Hers was the Capitol Hill one.

The dishes are calling so off I go.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLiCS -- Week of March 8th

Good Evening!  I had to laugh at your reaction to R's question, Claudia.  I certainly don't like doing the dishes -- that is why I like my dishwasher so much.  I can't imagine someone really like washing the dishes, but you never know.

I think it is a good idea for R to skip those large crowds.  They have canceled a major book festival we have in Tucson and the Weight Watchers meeting and concert at the senior center.  It is possible they will cancel the Adult Day Care and the Senior lunch program, but I hope not.

I saw the story about that church, Claudia.  What a mess.  I don't need TP at the moment, but I was looking for the future.  Hopefully, I will not have problems if I have to be quarantined.  By the way, that sounds like torture for me.  Just sitting in the house for two weeks.  Yikes!

Hope the car fix is fast and easy.

Glad you got things done, and the house sale is progressing, Barbara.  Good luck at COSTCO.  I have heard horror stories about the crowds.  I saw that they were out of TP yesterday.  Some people are wearing masks here, but not a lot.  I saw that the facility where DH was living is asking visitors to wear masks (I guess they supply them.)  I am a little concerned about the nursing facility where my hospice patient is living restricting visitors - hope not.  If possible, I will visit her tomorrow afternoon (after yoga class).

My work buddy was sick today, but things went well.  I also arranged to have lunch with Jo Ann on Friday.

Glad both of you have had such good luck with State Farm.  I have used them for house insurance most of the time I have owned a house, but had not "bundled" the car insurance.  Quite a nice savings.

Hope both of you sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda
