Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

Hurray for the air conditioning, Linda. It's wonderful they got everything accomplished so quickly. Not surprised at 'll that you had trouble sleeping last night. I know how delighted you are with DD's news.

What a day. We managed to stop at the bakery. Among other things I got 2 slices of angel food cake with drizzled orange icing. I didn't stop at the one country store. Instead went on to Wegmans as we drove into the city. I picked up cat litter which I was getting low on plus a few more things. I'll recycle cans and bottles another day

The specialist took x-rays of R's wrist and it looks good. However he should be using his cane on his left side not the right where the hip needs replaced. Because the left forearm has damaged he can't place his full weight on it. He prescribed an attachment for a cane. We drove all around to the places recommended and no one had it. Finally exhausted and hungry (since we had no lunch) and needing a restroom we stopped at a

Longhorn Steakhouse.

We had left at 11 this morning and got home after 7 this evening. My plan now is to check with the VA through R's go there and see if this is something they could provide. The main reason we went back to the microsurgery practice was that R had his 2 surgeries there.

Young cat was waiting for his dinner when we got home. After all it was 2 hours late. Jinx showed up and snuck onto the sunporch and had to be escorted back out. He really doesn't want to exchange a home with 2 small dogs for one with 2 big dogs.

Barbara, I hope you're able to rest and pace yourself. Things will eventually get done.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

Good afternoon..I am in recovery mode...I really have to pace myself because my ra is not cooperating at all. My bad knee looked like it had a grapefruit in ..so I ave my feet up . I think I am done for the day.

The house is very nice, but the bedrooms are quite small.inthinkmi mentioned that the closets have built in shelves, so my clothes will be folded instead of hung. The size of the bedrooms is the only negative.

M and syd just went to get Pepper. I can only imagine her reaction.

Linda..great news on your dd going back to school. I know you have been wishing that for a while. Congratulations to her. I am guessing that you will find your new ac more efficient. The new ones are supposed to be good for that.

Claudia..that sounds like a long day yesterday. R will be happy when his hip is done. I know v said he was very stupid to wait as long as he did.

Have a good rest of the day..I am living one box at a time..😜😜

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

What a long day you had yesterday, Claudia.  I remember running around from place to place to try and find things recommended for DH.  Very frustrating to say the least.  Hope the cake was good.   Sounds delicious.  Hope you, R, and the furbabies are doing okay today.

I'm so sorry your RA is kicking up so badly, Barbara.  And, your knee swelling up as well -- yikes.  Definitely time to take a break.  I didn't realize about the closets.  Marie Kondo would probably approve, but I like to hang some things up.  I'm sure Pepper will be happy to see her family.

DD's car needed a water pump, etc.  Not cheap, but at least she doesn't need a new car.  Her first class is Spanish, and it already started yesterday evening.  They have a textbook that is on-line, but she decided to buy a paper copy.  I don't blame her.  She is pretty good with languages, but had studied French in the past.  What I really love is her enthusiasm for going back to school.  She may not get a degree, but it seems like she is really interested in getting certificates that will enable her to work.   I think that is very important in today's world.

I think the new AC will be more efficient, and it is quieter.

Many good things happening, but of course, I had to worry about something.  And, today I started thinking about the fact that I am not planning to pay for my SIL's car after December.  We had discussed it when I saw her last, but that has been more than a year.

After much consideration, I decided to e-mail her to make sure she remembered.  I figured she might be upset if the money just stopped coming in.  Fortunately, she e-mailed back to say that she remembered, and told me she was so thankful for my help.  Whew!   One less worry.

Hope both of you sleep well, and you feel better tomorrow, Barbara.

Hugs,

Linda

Yikes with that knee, Barbara. Do take it easy. I hope Pepper adjusts easily to the new house.

We checked with the VA and they do not carry it. His doctor did do a referral to the VA hospital for an evaluation. Meanwhile R found the item online and we went ahead and ordered it. If it helps him It's worth paying for it ourselves.

Yesterday was exhausting I detest city driving and you guessed it, I drove up and back. Lots of construction and at one point I ended up the wrong way on a one way street. Luckily I was able to make a quick right hand turn into another street but it was nerveracking. R does not give good directions. He's as bad as my mother was at turn left when it should be right. I know my way to the VA hospital, the other 2 hospitals, the microsurgery, and Wegmans plus a few restaurants and the mall. All else is a guess without gps. He was getting directions on his phone to the various medical supply places. We must have been tired and hungry because we never thought to call them.

it's about 12 days after the 4th of July and as expected we are back to more restrictions. When I saw all the holiday traffic I just shook my head back then.

Terrible jet ski accident up by the dam yesterday. Nothing in the paper of course but a relative posted on FB that one person suffered a fractured neck, multiple facial fractures, broken jaw, knee damage plus a liver sliced in half.

We have a weather watch for strong winds and a possible tornado.

R thinks he can go hunting this fall prior to the surgery. I told him his buddy would have to drag him out of the woods because that hip won't hold up. Smh.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

It was a good idea to remind your sil, Linda. One less concern for you. I'm glad your DD does not need a new car.

I was trying to remember how old out AC is. I'm guessing it's been around 12 years.

I really had trouble sleeping last night. You would think after a tidings I would have gone right to sleep but it didn't work that way. I sure hope tonight is better.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

day 3 of Omg...I have to get all of our stuff into one room...clothes in particular. So I have been readin Marie Konde and tomorrow I'm am going to start the purge..we are of an age where I do not want my kids to get rid of lots of c***. I have only gone up and down stairs once today..but I am very exhausted.

my disappointment in my youngest remains. I called her and asked if she could come down to help fo one day because the girls are at camp...and of course, she can't. Smh

Poor Pepper..she was terrified when she came in last night..no one could touch her without her snapping and actually biting us. So m called her vet and she said to set up peppers kennel in one of the bedrooms and make it her room. She was crying last night but m got her settled down She s much better today..we can pet her and her tail is wagging rather than tucked. Poor puppy.

lots of changes at the Q. My buying days are over.

ms family room is very pleasant to sit in...there is a pretty back yard.

have a good rest of the day. 😘💖

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

Hope you slept better last night, Claudia.  I had a very difficult night -- kept getting up even took Midnite, but kept waking up.  It was a bit cooler today (high of 97 or 98), but still pretty warm on my walk.  Still loving my new AC.

Good idea to look elsewhere for something to help R.  I hope it works.  Also hope he doesn't try to go hunting before his surgery.  It is a shame about the virus flare up in your area.  The former director of the senior lunch program has moved to PA (I think southern part), and she and her husband are managing(?) a historic theater.  They were showing movies (out in front), and were selling tickets for shows indoors (they are musicians).  She was so disappointed that the governor closed everything down.

Hope you, R, and your furbabies are doing okay.  My friend Tina is in the hospital, and they won't provide information about her health condition to my friends since we are not immediate family.  My friend and I decided not to try to call her, but we will send cards to the hospital since we have the address.

Sorry Pepper had such a hard time with the new house, Barbara.  I know that it took my dogs time to adapt to new surroundings.  Please don't try to do too much, especially go up and down the stairs.

My friend Jo Ann said her son told her she had too much stuff despite her getting rid of a lot.  In truth, it is difficult to reduce a whole house down to a room.  Hope you don't get rid of anything you might regret in the future.  But, I agree with you about not leaving "stuff" for your kids to have to deal with after you are gone.  My brother and I had quite a lot when my Mom passed.  His approach was to toss everything into a dumpster, but I tried to be more thoughtful.  It was painful.

Sorry A isn't willing to help you.  My guess is that she will regret this someday, but that doesn't help now.  My brother and SIL were not helpful to my parents, and it upset me.  Particularly upset me when my Mom was on her own for nine years and didn't even drive.  Just sad.

I briefly met the new hospice volunteer coordinator who is from Illinois.  He had worked for a hospice there, and suddenly they closed it.  He and his wife had famly in the Tucson area, and he was delighted to find a job quickly.  I think he was a pastor and a missionary before he started with hospice.

Today, everyone at hospice was wearing a mask so I guess they got the message.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

Pepper must have been horrified at the changes. I'm glad she settled down. Once used to it I'm sure she'll enjoy the yard.

Try to pace yourself, Barbara. Moving is stressful especially when going from a house to a room. It's a shame your youngest is reacting this way. I know I was upset when my youngest sister seldom came down to visit mother and dad. Then the other one would breeze into town and make changes without telling anyone.

I have the car loaded up for tomorrow's recycling event. R pointed out a shelf we hadn't touched yet. Halfway down the cellar stairs- no wonder we'd left it alone. I managed to reach everything that needs to go.

When I picked up.milk today I was able to drop.off some donations. I keep plugging away at my sorting.

The forecast storm didn't amount to much here but an hour north over the state one a tornado touched down destroying 2 barns. It was a bit day. Tippy was very happy to come inside.

Linda, that's too bad about your friend, Tina. At least you have the address. Glad everyone at hospice was wearing a mask today.

Most times the Midnight works but I've had a few times when nothing seemed to help.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

Good Afternoon/Evening!  It is pretty hot here (99 degrees at the moment), and no rain so far.  I'm hoping we will get some rain this afternoon/evening, but the forecast has changed.

Just had two calls in a row -- I didn't answer, and both times they left a number, but not enough numbers for a phone number.  Irritating to say the least.

Hope you are feeling a little better today, Barbara.  Also hope you are taking your time with unpacking, and Pepper is doing okay.

Glad you are able to drop off donations and things to the recycle center, Claudia.  One of my favorite thrift stores isn't open, and the other is not taking donations.  But, Vietnam Vets picked up things a couple of weeks ago, and I am filling bags for whenever they return.

I heard that another friend had contacted one of Tina's sisters who lives in New York.  Hopefully, she will be able to visit.  If memory serves there were four girls in the family.

Very quiet here, but that is okay.  I am doing my usual laundry and weekly financial review plus some cleaning.  Kelli who used to be on our board was one of the hosts for a Facebook "party" for Norwex cleaning products.  They look good, but expensive.  I had ordered the smallest set -- two cloths, but keep seeing things that look good.  Anyway, I decided to see what I had under my kitchen sink, and realized I already have quite a few cloths, etc.  No need to buy a bunch more at this time.   Unfortunately, I tend to get all wrapped up in new cleaning products, but then don't use them up before moving on to something new.

I slept better last night, thank goodness.  Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLIiCS week of July 12

Linda, I'm glad you slept better last night. It's 100° here. I persuaded Griffyn in. Too hot for a furry white bear. Tippy's just as pleased to hustle in too. I hate those kinds of calls.

The recyclables people to different  towns about 3 times a year. April was cancelled so I'm glad they didn't have to cancel the one for today. They accept paint and other hazardous materials along with electronics including tvs, small aplliances, etc. and charge by the pound. The next event is in October.

I heard today my nephew's wedding is postponed till next May. I was expecting that it would need to be postponed. It's too bad.

I haven't heard of Norwex before. I hope Kelli does well with her FB party.

Barbara, I hope you are testing and feeling better today and Pepper is getting used to her new digs.
