Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICs week of March 28

Yes, R has twice had to have iron infusions. Currently he is on an iron pill. He has lab work in early May so we'll find out if the pills worked. I'm glad the hot tub helped, Barbara.

Poor Sydnie.  A small town sounds like a good option.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICs week of March 28

I am sitting in the Az room waiting for my cleaning ladies. My iron infusion was only 1 and 1/2 hours .my biggest side effect is that I am rather dizzy. I fell awkwardly into my recliner out here and couldn't figure out how ton"right"" myself. V just laughed at me. But I did figure it out.lol

I am going to check my bp shortly.

m decided that sydnie is not going to retest until July or August. I think I told you that her horrible behind thevteachdr told her she wouod fail, and that tape is running through her head.

I gave Syd a 16x20 picture of Pepper. Mollie said pepper looks at and and barks and wags her tail. Lol

she is having a priest come to bless the house to get rid of whatever spirits sydnie thinks are there. It was intersting that he did not Pooh Pooh it. She has to go through several things, including confession, going to amass and receiving communion. Yes, she was baptized and raised catholic. They hsd to get a bottle of holy water and she had to bless each room, herself, Syd ,pepper and the gerbils daily .I know enough about what is involved that I could explain it to her. M inks it wouod be a good idea tomhave sydnie be re baptized , confirmed etc in the zcatholic church.

I thought you might find that interesting.

I hope yiu are both having a great day. Again, it is quite lovely here.😎😎😎

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICs week of March 28

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Sorry I missed your post late yesterday, Barbara. I decided to "nurse" my headache by not going on the computer much after dinner.

That is a shame about Syd failing her driver's test again.  The teacher who told her she would fail certainly didn't help.  Hope M's idea of waiting a while works.  Not sure if I told you the whole story, but my Dad had gone with me for my first test, but then my parents hired a driver's ed teacher (I had taken driver's ed in high school, but there was no emphasis on parallel parking).  Anyway, the driver's ed teach just worked with me on the parking part, and I still failed the test the second time.  It was very discouraging since I couldn't do anything about the lazy eye and depth perception problems.  Fortunately, I did pass the third time.

I didn't realize M had been raised Catholic.  Hope the house blessing gives her and Syd some comfort.  My Dad's family was Catholic, and I was baptised in that church.  But, my Dad wasn't a church going guy, and in those days it was very confusing (in Latin, etc.), and I only went one time with him after being baptised.  Then, my Mom "shopped around" for a church, and I ended up being confirmed in the Episcopal Church.

My SIL was raised Catholic, and his Mom was totally Catholic (very devout).  So, my first three grands were baptised Catholic to please their other Grandmother.  She moved back to Mexico before DGD was baptised.  DD and my middle DGS have gone to the Catholic church, and she still does some times.  But, mostly they go to the Baptist church, and not all of them.  No one I have known has had a priest bless the house.  It will be interesting to see if Syd decides to join the church.  Are your other kids practicing Catholics?

It is very nice here -- much warmer than normal, but I cut my walk very short due to the road construction.  Hope that I will be able to get out to the stores and hospice tomorrow since I think it may be difficult for the people to get out of their houses in the midst of things.  Some people were complaining that the mailman and the trash collectors were "waved off" by the construction crew when they were on their streets.

Glad R was feeling better yesterday, Claudia.  Hope both of you are okay today.  Hope your weather isn't too bad.  DD said it was raining heavily there, and turning much colder.  That is a shame about the necklace.

DD has had those iron infusions, but is now on oral medication.  Hope it doesn't cause you any problems, Barbara.

Nothing at all exciting to report.  I enjoyed my geography OLLI class this morning.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICs week of March 28

I hope the dizziness has gone away, Barbara. I don't recall R saying he was dizzy but that was quite some time ago. Its probably wise to give Sydnie more time before taking the driver's test again. Blessing the house plus having Sydnie actively participate should help.

No luck yet regarding the contractor. I have a list of local ones but we need to prioritize. It's difficult finding many reviews I'm tempted to have R close his eyes and pick.

Today was overcast with rain. Possible snow tomorrow. I thought Griffin was due for shot updates in April but hadn't got a reminder card. I looked it up and he was due in March! Calling the vet and scheduling him is on tomorrow's list.

I can't imagine how difficult the parallel parking was for you. I know it wasn't easy for me and still isn't.

My mother also "shopped around" for a church and ended up in the Episcopal along with my siblings and eventually dad.

I hope you don't have difficulty getting out tomorrow for your shopping and hospice deliveries, Linda.

Sleep well. I woke up partway through the night last night and had a hard time getting back to sleep. Fingers crossed tonight is better.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICs week of March 28

Oops about Griffin, Claudia.  Glad you caught that.  Hope you got some rest last night, and R is better today.  They didn't work on my street today, so I didn't have problems getting out.

Hope you enjoyed the pool, Barbara.  As I mentioned on the other thread, I won't even consider going to the pool until two weeks after my second vaccination next Tuesday.  They are reopening more things here starting next week, but I think there are still some limits and masking involved.  Don't know when I will feel comfortable going back to the gym.

Sorry Syd is having those problems.  DGD heard from her doctor, and DD and I think it is good news.  She doesn't agree.  The doctor said there was no evidence of epilepsy or seizures.  So, the doctor thinks the symptoms she is experiencing is due to a sleep disorder.  She told her to go to a specialist, and she was fortunate to get an appointment tomorrow afternoon (the next appointment was in July).  So, DD will be greeting oldest DGS and his wife, and then taking DGD to the doctor.  We are guessing she will need a sleep study.

The reason DGD is angry is that the doctor told her that she needs to lose weight since that is contributing to her problems.  She is on some medications for depression, etc. that are known to cause weight gain, but she is also eating poorly and too much.

Weight is such a difficult subject, and DD is very sensitive to the issue.  But, she is trying to get through to DGD.  I offered to help pay for it if she wants to join NOOM or whatever.  DD thinks she probably needs to lose 70 pounds or so, which is a lot.

I was talking to the hospice volunteer coordinator, and he said that his wife has RA, and they had to time her COVID vaccine around her RA infusions.  I told him that I had a friend with RA, and I realized what a horrible disease it is.  He said she is doing better than she was 15 years ago (I assume she is in her early 60's), but she doesn't complain.  That reminded me of you Barbara.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICs week of March 28

Barbara, its too bad Syd is dealing with some friends who like to create drama. That age is never easy. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the pool. Your weather sounds nice. We had a low of 19° today. It did get up to about 31°. Tomorrow is much the same then warmer.

I tend to agree with you and your DD, Linda. I can understand though that your DGD is upset about the weight.

We spoke to one contractor today who will come by Monday or Tuesday and missed a call from another who said he will call back.

Adam called and was very upbeat. Job wise it is good and he will be doing more in the management line of work. His recent work physical was good. Weight and labwork results were better than last year which will lower the cost of his company health insurance. He plans to go to my niece's wedding so we'll try depending on the cost of porches and roof, airfare, and hotel.

Hope you have a good evening and sleep well.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICs week of March 28

Good Afternoon/Evening!  It isn't quite as hot today, but still toasty with a high of 89 predicted.  The house is still very comfortable, so no AC so far.  I was using the heat last week, and always prefer having no heating or cooling for a little while in between.

Glad you heard from the contractor, Claudia.  DD said that they got a violation notice from their HOA saying they needed to have their house power washed.  Of course, they could rent a machine, etc., but she found a contractor with a good reputation who will do the job for $300.  That will be later in the month since he is busy.

Great news about Adam.  So nice when your kids are upbeat and doing well.

Oldest DGS and his wife arrived with their tiny dog.  He was so small that he could fit under the seat with no problem.  He is a very odd looking dog with one blue and one brown eye, but they are crazy about him.

DD gave them lunch, and was taking DGD to the sleep doctor later in the day.

A man who worked in my office (at one time reported to me) passed away suddenly due to a heart attack.  His wife worked in a different office there, and she took his death very hard.  They had been married 40 years, and had no children.  He was a pretty odd guy, and certainly not my favorite.  But, I learned some very interesting things about him from his obituary.  Really working on not being so judgemental these days.  My problem with him was that he didn't have a good work ethic, which is something that is important to me.  Also, his office was a total mess, he wore the same stained clothes all the time, and he fell asleep often enough that others could hear the snoring.  Turned out that he had narcolepsy, so I felt bad about laughing over the snoring, but....  Fortunately, I fell good about the last time I saw him at his retirement party.

After all that heavy reflection, I guess it is time for me to get started on my laundry area decluttering project.

Hope both of you and your husbands had a nice day, and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICs week of March 28

it is quite toasty here..95 by the car thermometer. I think the ac will go on at bedtime because i do not sleep well when I am hot.

I had my first pt apointment today..it is at my orthopedic Dr practice and I lived my therapist. I have been through enough pt to know when it is good. I will be doing lots of exercises to strengthen my hip muscles. I have a bunch of stretches to do but nothin unfamiliar because I have done them previously.

Linda..poor dgd with her weight struggle
