REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

Good afternoon..105 currently. I was reading an article on what the warming of the earth means for future temps and I do nothing Az will be too livable in 50 years according to the projections. I fear for my grandchildren.

My knees are giving me fits today..probably from the water aerobics yesterday. I am definitely going to have to ease into that. It is compounded by the fact that I have been overdoing since v got sick. So I am going to chill for the afternoon and ic3 then and read. Dinner is in the crockpot.

Linda..that s too bad your friend has to have more surgery because it was not done correctly. Thinking of doing a Leslie Sansone gives me quivers of pain..lol

i am annoyed with our insurance agents assistant. M suddenly lost the family discount because the agent changed Az to our permanent address. So v has to call tomorrow to get that straightened out. Plus our auto insurance rates were raised for a car that stays in Mn yikes

Claudia..rs surgery is coming up. Will say a prayer for him and you.

V s still very weak but improving slowly each day.It is going to be a while.

Have a wonderful day.🌵🌵

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

Good Afternoon/Evening!  It is 98 degrees here -- still not as hot as your area, Barbara. but hot.  Sorry about your knees.  You do need to be careful with exercise.  I modify some of Leslie Sanson's exercises because I am afraid of injuring myself.  They are a lot more vigorous than I remembered -- the newer ones certainly more vigorous than the older ones.  Sounds like you do need to take it easy.  Sorry about the insurance mess -- those sorts of things can drive me crazy.

Had a pretty long talk with Bev today -- what a mess.  I am surprised that the surgeon told her son that things were really a mess in there, and the other surgeon had not told him about all that was wrong.  Another doctor from that practice (other surgeon) came in today and asked Bev how she was doing.  Bev told her she wanted nothing to do with them from now on.  Anyway, the second surgeon said that he will need to see the lab results from the fluid he drained off.  If there is no cancer, she can have general surgery on Wednesday or so if he can get a good vascular surgeon to help.  If not, she will need to go to Mayo.  And, if it is cancer, she will need chemo before surgery.  I'm glad this surgeon seems to be on the ball and honest.

Hope R hasn't had any other mishaps and the surgery can go on as planned, Claudia.  He probably wouldn't allow the bubble wrap, but it is a good thought.  As you may have read on the other thread, twinny/Glenda's friend's husband is going to the hospital the afternoon before the surgery because he cannot be trusted not to eat.  That has been a problem for some of my Caregiver buddies in the past.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

R and I went over to the er this morning to get his hip checked out since it had become very painful (a 10) when weight bearing. He doesn't bruise easily and had quite a bruise from the short step stool he sat on collapsing. Luckily there is no break just severe arthritis and the surgery will go forward. They did prescribe something for pain. I need to call the VA tomorrow to request coverage since it's related to the hip replacement.

Adam called to wish R a happy birthday. He's had some back problems but they seem to be improving.

I've been overdoing things because R has not been able to do a lot. Trying to take it easy is easier said than done.

It was 64° this afternoon.

Barbara, I'm glad V is feeling better. I hope you can take it easy. What a pain to have to straighten things out insurance wise.

Linda, I hope things go well with your friend, Bev. What a shame the first surgeon messed up. it does happen and many times the patient does not find out promptly. R's current urologist told him he would have treated his prostate cancer much differently and not have given the high dose of radiation.

The neighbors' down the street managed to get one of the kittens (the black and white).

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

Good afternoon..105 currently.  No cool down is predicted for quite a while. I am not complaining...

I got my port flushed this morning...managed to make the walk ok...it was longer than usual because only the main entrance was open. Made a quick stop at target on the way home.

Vs legs still look very inflamed..I am betting he is going to end up i the hospital for IV antibiotics.

I am going to have to buy a couple of storage cabinets for our extra items. It will make the den and extra bedroom much neater. I will probably order from Wayfair since they have good stuff ata reasonable price.

Linda..hope you enjoy your classes today. I am sure dgs and wife are going to have an adjustment to the colder temps of NH. It took me a couple of years when we moved to MN.

Claudia, I am sure R is wishing his surgery was sooner. V could barely walk when he got to the hospital. I agree that is is hard not to overdo when one is responsible for 2.

enjoy the rest of the day. 🤓🤓

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

We had a frost overnight but this afternoon it warmed up to the mid 70's. I managed to mow most of the backyard this afternoon and surprisingly didn't hurt too bad after it. It had to be done but I was dreading it.

R isn't hurting too bad. I think the pain medication is helping. He has last minute lab work tomorrow.

When I put cat food out at supper time I was able to pat the white and black kitten (around 10-12 weeks old). I probably could have grabbed him or her then but didn't since the vet would be closed. I hope when I do get hold of any that my vet is not on vacation..

Poor V. R is very fortunate we caught his so quickly. Ordering storage from Way fair or a similar place seems likelikeva good idea, Barbara.

Linda I hope you enjoyed today's classes. My recommendation for your DGS and wife is fleece sheets. I don't use the fleece pillowcases though.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

Good Evening!  Glad you were able to get your port flushed and the walk was tolerable, Barbara.  Cooler here, but not cool at all.  I would rather have heat than cold, but I wish the temperatures were "average" rather than hotter than usual.  It has been this way all summer (record highs in July and August), and so little rain.

Sorry about V -- I hope he is better soon and doesn't need to go to the hospital, but I guess that may well be necessary.  My one experience with Wayfair wasn't great since I never did receive the rug pad despite being told it was on its way for ages.  But, the rug is fine, and I know may like their products.  The storage cabinets are a great idea.  I am totally into storage containers these days -- really makes a difference to have things organized.  Also good for me to see what I have and get rid of the extras.

Glad you aren't too sore, and R seems to be getting some relief from the pain medication, Claudia.  Sounds like capturing the kittens is a tricky business.  DD's dog was neutered today, and apparently things went well.  But, they did not do her dental surgery/cleaning since the vet didn't get the message.  DD has decided to see if the other dog needs to have dental work, and maybe have both done at the same time.  He may not need it since they have been brushing his teeth regularly.

Both classes were excellent.  It turns out that the instructor of the desert gardening class has her own small business, so I sent her an e-mail asking if she would be willing to look at my yard and give me some advice and an estimate for her services.  I am not clear if she does the work herself or works with a landscaper.  She knows a great deal about how to landscape with native plants plus use water carefully.

Good idea about the fleece sheets, Claudia.  I don't know what type of bed DGS and his wife have at the moment, but I know how nice those sheets can be, even here when it is cold at night.  Like you, I don't use the pillow cases.  Sometimes, I just use one fleece and one regular sheet depending on the weather.  I found out that the baby she is watching is four months old, and both parents own their own businesses.  The Mom works from home, and will pump breast milk for the baby girl.

Glad Adam called for R's birthday, and his back is better.

One of the roofing companies is coming tomorrow morning, and I am very interested in hearing what they have to say.  Hopefully, it won't be a ridiculously high bid.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

Good afternoon..I counted a few sprinkles on my windshield when I went out this morning. We had a lot of recycling to get out ...we have dumpsters at the back of the development that requires a golf cart to get to. I helped v because he remains rather weak.

I rearranged my half of the closet...put some of my spring color shirts away. I did a good job on removing excess clothing last spring so I only had one donation bag. Next I need to tackle the guest closet and bookcases in the den.not today, however.

Linda, hope your roofing guy showed up to give an estimate. Great idea on the heavier sheets..I am so warm at night, that I could not use those in Mn in below zero weather.

inthink I am losing my mind..I had a charge to Hollister that I did not recognize. I het my ostomy supplies from Hollister medical so I assumed they forgot to Bill my insurance. While I was talking to the rep, she couldn't see any charge so she said do you shop at Hollister clothing. I got a good laugh out of that as did she. 🙄😲

Claudia hope yourvday is going well...I think rs surgery is tomorrow.

Linda that is too bad your friend has cancer. I hope she is getting top notch care.

have a good day. 😍😍

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

Good Afternoon/Evening! We didn't get those sprinkles here, Barbara.  I was hoping that we would, but they were not supposed to be much.  Just another hot and dry day.  Not too hot on my early morning walk, which was good.

Glad you organized your closet and go the recycling out.  Hope V gets stronger.  That is funny about the charge.  My ex charged some dry cleaning at a place i never heard of and forgot that he did, and I challenged the charge before he remembered the name of the place.  Pretty embarrassing.

The roofing company finally showed up after 11:00, but I was quite happy that the roof seems mostly okay.  One place that needs repair, and one of the skylight domes needs replacement.  But, no new coating.  The other place is coming tomorrow, and maybe the bids won't be too high.  I heard back from the landscaper who taught the class yesterday, and she will be coming over to talk about what I want done, etc. in three weeks.  This visit is free.

Much to my surprise, I got a note that I am in the OLLI yoga class -- I was on waitlist and really didn't expect to get into the class.  I have missed the first class, but I start tomorrow.  In the meantime, I had made some appointments on Wednesday, so I will need to miss one class and may need to leave early for another.  Just not sure how this will work via Zoom.  If it doesn't work out, I guess I will just withdraw.

DD had a horrible night because the female dog who was neutered yesterday was up at least seven times and made all sorts of noises -- crying, etc.  The vet thinks she can't handle the collar, and she is prescribing a medicine to calm her down.

It is funny that Claudia mentioned the sheets, and then they were a TSV.  I hope they help my grandsons.  I cannot use them if it is hot, but they are okay when it is cold.

I'm pretty upset about Bev.  I sure hope she doesn't have pain, and the chemo helps.

Also hope R is doing okay, Claudia.  I'm sure both of you are anxious about the surgery tomorrow, but I pray that all goes well.

Hope both of you and your husbands sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

Linda, I hope the roofing work is less money than you anticipated. So far it doesn't sound bad. I am so sorry about Bev.

I put our recycling out for pickup tomorrow. R needs to be at the hospital at 6 tomorrow morning.

I'm heading to bed asap. I got delayed trying to figure out what R ordered and reconciling the charges.

We had dinner out and brought pie home. I'll worry about eating mine tomorrow.

Barbara, its good you were able to help V with the recycling.

I still need to go through clothes.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of September 20

it is another hot day and they are not ending soon. We are about 15 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Our water softener died over the summer so someone is coming out ongive us some options. I want to get away from dealing with salt because it is hard for v to handle those big bags of salt.

i have an appointment with a different rheumatologisthere. This practice comes highly recommended. I am also getting my hair cut on Friday. It needs to be reshaped.

Linda..hope the roofing bids are reasonable. I would love to put some flowers in but v has filled the back yard with cacti...I am going to talk to him about having a couple taken out. Probably not going to happen..lol

M is trying to figure out what to do with syds hair. She wants to wear it down but hates the frizz. The guy that cuts her hair said she can only use a flat iron once a month. I want her to look at the curly girl method which I think would really help her.

Claudia hope and pray rs surgery went well today. I am sure you are exhausted.

have a good evening. 😎😎
